  • Does Samsung Galaxy Nexus have white version?

  • +4

KGNCOOP1 - use that coupon for some sort of discount

    • Doesn't seem to apply

    • +2

Seems to be 1% off, works on Canon 650D. Thank you :)

  • -4

discounts don't apply because the phone is already discounted I believe.

Anymore discount and it will be freeeee

I would rather pay an extra $170 for S3. Is this really the lowest price it's been?

I get a feeling S3 will be down to $500 in not too long.

Nexus is still a good phone but it's been outdone. And I don't like on screen buttons because they take away some of your screen real estate.

    • -2

      Wrong.

      • +6

About what? The S3 costing $569 shipped?

Or the Nexus still being a good phone? Or that it's been superseded by better phones?

Or the fact that it has on screen buttons? Or that on screen buttons take away some of the space on the screen?

Or that the S3 might drop to $500 in not too long?

Which part was I wrong about? Be specific please.

        • +1

On-screen buttons disappear on full-screen video. making it actual true full-screen video. But even with the buttons on screen, i think you still get more usable area (and definitely more resolution) than an SGS2 at least. I'm not sure about the SGS3.

    • +6

Well, good luck receiving timely updates from Samsung. My experience owning Samsung devices previously prompted me to buy a Nexus. It's not the latest and greatest spec-wise, but hey I'm already running 4.1.

      • -7

Nexus is also made by Samsung…

You installed a custom ROM on it. Nice. Could you not also do that on the S3?

        • +5

I thought the Nex had an OTA upgrade to Jelly Bean.

        • It does

        • my nexus has been promptly to update to jelly bean since last week, but i stick with custom rom :)

        • Nexus series will always get the latest Android OS updates because they are designed by Google.

  • bloody great price.

  • +3

For those who remember the deal (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/72139) for this phone at $348 from Chatswood, they still have stock every so often of the Nexus at $398, in store pickup.

  • +1

Good price for a damn good phone. I just got one last week and I'm loving Jelly Bean. Project Butter is the real deal.

    • +3

Indeed. Not much different in terms of UI, but the whole thing just becomes so much 'buttery' that makes you think that's a different phone.

      • The difference JB has made to my Xoom is unreal. Soooo much faster and responsive, I love it. I'm considering fleabaying my SGS2 and grabbing a GNexus now.

  • Will Google release a new Nexus phone this year?

    • -2

Rumor has it that all five major android phone manufacturers (Samsung, HTC, Sony, Motorola, LG) will be releasing their own Nexus phone late this year.

      • Any links to support multiple manufacturers releasing Nexus phones?

  • +1

    FINALLY GREAT PRICE!
    THINKING OF GETTING ANOTHER!

    • +3

      Calm down please.

I think I bought a rug from him once

  • is this phone ok for overseas (as I'm heading off to europe/dubai in a few weeks) ??

    • yes

    • Yeah mine worked great when I was in China for a while. Just buy this phone - it is awesome!

    • Mine worked great in Germany with a local sim from carrier O2.

  • +6

$350 is the known bargain point for this phone. Even then I'd have to think about it. The designed lack of local storage is too apple-esque for my liking.

    • -3

I don't feel the lack of SD card is Apple like at all. Whereas Ipad / Iphone are sold in multiple versions with massive margins on extra storage, this is just 16g all round. There are other reasons- EXT / FAT compatability, file permissions, differing speed capabilities etc which mean many Nexus devices won't see an SD slot.

      • -3

        Keep telling yourself that lol.

      • How did they overcome these challenges in their other lines of phone?

      • a person must have alot of spare time, if they're consistently needing to filter through 16gb+ of content on the daily.. lol

        • -1

Why do you care what I do and don't store on my phone? Is your real name "Google" or "Apple" by chance?

  • Bteer deal than the S2 for $398 at HN a few weeks ago?

    • +4

      definitely!

    • Nexus >= S3 >> S2

      • Hallucination?

        • Nope not really, S3 may have the better processor, but does the Nexus really need it?? Plus I'd prefer vanilla android over Touchwiz anyday.

  • +1

    Nexus or S2 everyone?

    • +1

Good question. But Nexus beats the S2 hands down and can receive the latest Jellybean update. S2 probably won't ever get the JB update, but I guess you can flash it on the phone/

      • +1

In which way is it better? From what I can see on the spec sheet:

        http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4219&idPhone2=…

All it has over s2 is the screen resolution? (but then again it also has a bigger screen)

Otherwise, s2 has better camera, able to use microSD cards and radio feature

        • The fact that the Nexus will continue to receive Google updates for the next 12-36 months alone makes it the better choice. However, specwise CodeXD is correct in that it does have things over the nexus like higher megapixels and microsd support, but at the same time it has other features that you need to take into account such as the zero shutter lag camera and on-screen buttons (which to me is a good thing). Personally I would also prefer the Nexus's larger screen (4.65" vs 4.3") but also note at the same time that it is not Gorilla Glass but rather a fortified glass.

It's really up to you as both phones are great, but I'd be willing to swap the difference in camera and microsd support for the better screen (which is nice and crisp at 720p!)

          Have fun!

        • Also want to point out that the normal S2 has an outdated 480 x 800 screen resolution on its 4.3" screen. That's the same resolution as the 3.7" HTC desire from 2010. (Nexus - 315ppi vs S2 217ppi)

  • Has anybody dealt with these guys before? http://www.thinkofus.com.au/Samsung-Galaxy-Nexus-i9250-p/800…

edit- just realised NO STOCK, sorry

  • Has anyone managed to use USB mass storage without installing a custom rom?

    • what do you mean? you can just plug in into computer and you can access it just like camera or sd card. or you can install airdroid, access your phone data wirelessly without plug in into pc

      • I think he means USB OTG.

  • I am having difficulty choosing between GN or S2

In terms of Hardware, S2 is actually better: Dow Corning Gorilla Glass, 8MP camera & 2MP front camera, Mali-400 GPU, FM radio, external storage support and physical home button.

On the other hand, GN gets the latest updates and will most likely continue this way for another 6 -12 months I think. Even the old Nexus S has JB update now.

    • I'd go the S2, as custom roms should do the job for a while, if (when) Samsung stop updating it.

    • +1

I used to own an S2 until I accidentally broke the screen :( Here's a few quick thoughts.

I miss the S2 camera (good quality images for a phone camera) but it's pretty slow when shooting multiple images whereas the Nexus is super fast compared to it.

People keep telling me that the S2 is a better performer but I don't notice the difference. Maybe I just don't demand a lot from my phone. Or maybe it's Jelly Bean, I don't know. I'm happy with both in terms of performance.

I love the bigger Nexus screen. The S2 screen size was okay but I like having more room to play with. When I had to buy my replacement phone last week, I went with the Nexus and not the S2 because of the screen. For me, that was the main differentiator.

      • -1

I thought GN screen size is actually the same as S2 due to the touch screen button on GN?
And is it true that the latest JB update is quite buggy??

        • S2 screen is 4.3 inches while Nexus is 4.65 inches. Might not be much but I like it, I feel like I have a bit more room to play with. Nexus isn't as easy to operate one handed though and I miss the thinness of the S2 (even though the Nexus isn't exactly thick).

I haven't noticed any bugs on the Jelly Bean but maybe I just haven't been looking. Plus I've only had it for a week. Maybe someone who has played with it extensively can chime in.

        • Been using JB for more than a week now and the only thing that's obviously broken for me is Swype in browsers, which is more a Swype's problem than Google's.

        • Only problem for me using beta Swype in browsers is the auto-spacing doesn't work. I need to manually add a space after each word. Is that the same issue you have?

        • Yes, and sometimes auto-cap every word.

  • RedbullMobile has these phone for $300 if you buy into their $365/365day plan
