I have used other Osmo iPad sets with school-aged kids and they are pretty cool. The iPad sits in the stand and the kid manipulates materials in front of it to interact with the device. There is a range of different game packages. This coding set comes with a stand and the hood (which lets the camera see down). The kit looks to be $179 with Australian retailers. It's for ages 5-12.

Also on sale is
Little genius kit with stand for ages 3-5 for $52
Frozen 2 drawing kit with stand for $39 (this looks like the seller adds the stand to a kit that doesn't come with one as standard).

  • Thanks OP

Will look out for the genius kit now

  • Are these able to be used with iPad kid's protection cases? Or do you have to use it without any case? i.e. I have to take the case off it each time they want to use it.

seems like you have to take them out unless the case doesn't block the reflector thing

you'll have to remove the case to use this kit.
I've got the kit for my kids and it's a pain removing it from their ipad case since you'll need to attach the reflector(supplied in the kit) to the top of the ipad where the camera is located.

Edit - The 'coding' kit has really nothing to do with coding. It's more an interactive game with puzzle pieces.
It's a good initial set up to get the stand and reflector. There's also other free games in the main app but requires you to have other pieces.
The number/word pieces(sold separately) are useful as it opens up a few other free games.

(I wouldn't pay the rrp price for these)

      • my friend told me to get the genius kit from facebook marketplace, averages around $40

      • Thanks for explaining, it helps.

      • Well they do introduce loops and repeat until type logic. And the coding jam and coding duo games add wait blocks, music and multiplayer features.

  • Not sure if it's worth it but bought it anyway.

  • 5-12 is a bit optimistic. My son finished all the games/lessons and was kinda bored with it by 8(ish). It's a good time killer for when you want an hour of peace and quiet on the weekend.

    • 1 hour is awesome!

how long until they would get bored of it though?

  • Is it compatible with iPad pro M1 11"? Sorry got very confused.
Ignore it, not compatible with iPad pro 11"

You can find it on marketplace for half that price if you are not in a hurry. Usually once kids are finished, people don't have any use for them anymore.
