Weirdly you can now find Seagate Exos drives for cheaper than Ironwolf Pros now, would recommend the Exos for most applications given the cheaper price

    • Where?

      • -1

They also have brand new ones here
14TB for $274.55. Local stock too so protected by ACL

        • Thank you for your information

  • Aren't the Exos quite loud?

    • They are when seeking.

Very loud but the Ironwolf Pros are definitely not quiet either

  • I know Amazon charges gsr.om imported stuff know, but can you claim it back if you're a gst registered business?

  • Do Amazon ship and package 3.5" hdd's safely now?

    • Pretty sure it depends on how the manufacturer ship it?

All the WD stuff I've had has come in WD boxes with plastic inserts each end to hold the HDD with enough give to absorb shocks, but not so much it bounces around. Only time I've seen WD stuff shipped like that though, pretty sure usually shipped in bulk with multiple drives in one box spaced out with a grid of foam to protect them.

So perhaps even though not their fault, WD changed the way they ship their bare drives to Amazon? I mean DOA drives aren't a good look even if it is 99% Amazon's fault. Because not seen WD drives in boxes like that anywhere else and it would have to cost more to ship a box of drives like that. No more or less likely to arrive at Amazon's warehouse DOA either, but they'd know that Amazon aren't going to waste time and money unboxing the individual drives. Haven't looked, but should result in better average reviews for their drives than the competition?

Historical low today. One for $381.25, two for $732 ($366 per drive). Order in batches to avoid international fee.
