  • Good price imo.

    • C18 though.

  • i like chips

I'm just curious if users who bought from the JW Computers deal can comment if they are single/dual rank. From google search it sounds like there might be both out in field.
Might be useful info for some users interested in buying these.

    • I got dual rank but I got 32gb

      • +3

        as in you got 2x32gb = 64gb?
otherwise its the same as this 2x16=32 model F4-3600C18D-32GVK isnt it?

  • is it worth upgrade from 16gb to 32gb? mainly use for youtube and browsing ozbargain

    • +13

Depends how many ozbargain tabs your have opened.

    • Check your Windows task manager and see how much is in use.

    • For webbrowsing no

    • +8

      In case you're serious: no.

    • For your use case probably not. 16gb is the new absolute minimum for 2023 surely. For 2022 it was certainly a strong recommendation.

Are we looking at 2024 and 32gb being the next recommendation I wonder?

This is good deal as you could stack in 64gb for less than $250 which all things considered sound pretty good. Handful of RAM hungry games like cities skylines benefit from the RAM.

      • I saw a YouTube video where 32GB seemed to make a small difference in quite a few games, especially for the 1% lows.

With RAM this cheap and 4000mhz still not really gaining anything, 2x16GB of 3600mhz CL18 seems a good choice.

  • Is CL18 too much latency for gaming ?

    • +5

      No.

    • +5

Speed and latency go together, general rule of thumb is 3200 CL 16 is similar latency to 3600 CL 18.

For AM4 AMD, 3200 cl16 is good, can do better but improvements will be a few percent at best in most gaming requirements.

5800X3D does not care much for faster RAM, so went for 3600 CL18, not as fast as my old RAM but a few titles are now using a lot more and 16 is becoming a very minor bottleneck.

      TLDR - it's fine.

  • good price, got aegies 32 gb 3200 MHz kit couple of weeks ago for $125

  • Hi Guys,
Sorry, noob question. But would this be compatible for a Dell G7 15 Laptop (i7 9750H)?
From the Dell website, the configuration supported lists 32 GB DDR4 at 2666 MHz (2 x 16 GB).
I am assuming yes, but thought I would check just in case. Or if there may be a better option out there.
    Thanks!

Huge novice myself but pretty sure you need laptop ram as this is too chunky to fit

      • +2

oh of course! Sorry, yes, that makes sense. Thanks LucidNinja!

        • +5

          yep you're looking for SODIMM

  • Not a bad OxB deal considering it comes from an AI chatbot. Impressive.

    My rams: Corsair LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB 3000mhz C16)
    Games: Mainly FPS

Would I get any performance gain for adding this 32GB into my PC?

    • Short answer: nothing human-detectable.

    • No, but you could try overclocking what you have.

      • Overclocking is crashing my PC using XMP. Not sure if it’s because my CPU is not supporting anything beyond 2666

        • +1

I was gonna recommend swap, but not much point since your PC only supports native up to 2666 and XMP seemingly doesn't work.

Having said that your used sticks are (somehow) still worth around $60 on the used market.

        • RAM tuning is a deep hole, many options.

The quick one is to adjust the timings manually and the voltage, but you will need some advice on what those values are beyond my expertise.

          I'd post on Reddit.

I have no idea what this is but I want one because of the cool name.

    • Memory sticks for building (or upgrading) a good gaming PC.

  • I'm contemplating a new build and would like a dual M.2 NVMe board. I haven't built since 2014. Is there a board that uses this RAM (DDR4) and provides PCIe 5? Not over-clocking.

    • Use pcpartpicker (and choose Australia)

Thanks OP, but this is cheaper since it has free shipping

    BPC 119 + 15 ship = $134
    SE 129 + 0 ship + 1.29 fee = $130.29
