If you're also wondering WTF is Tulum

    Destination
    Tulum, Mexico

    • With airfares to the U.S pretty high at the moment and with the U.S being our most common gateway into Mexico, it's not really a bargain except if you were flying to Mexico anyway.

  • +1

For those wondering (like me), Tulum is a place in Mexico.

    • I knew what it was thanks to Instagram if i'm being honest

A true ozbargainer would pulled the trigger and ask questions later, i.e. Where is the heck is Tulum?

    • +1

Don't care, is this a bargain? The only choice

  • +3

I would say this is a questionable deal tbh. So many details missing, availabilities, as well as what the heck Tulum is.

  • price match at hilton.com and get 25% off ;)

4.0/5.0 on Google. The second ridiculous "deal" today, after the Bali trip. Guys, $560 for 4 nights and then in a 4 star hotel is nothing special in Tulum. We are talking about Mexico.
Check all the travel comparison pages, e.g., Momondo and you will see.

Lots of bad publicity lately due to increased cartel activity.

    • +1

Was there in 2021. It's a typical tourist destination, unfortunately, partly dominated by cartel violence. You hear stories from taxi drivers you never want to hear.

      • Should've taken an uber

        • +1

Rent a car from Cancun airport.

        • +1

Uber are not allowed in certain parts of Mexico and/or not recommend. Cartels see them as competition. Google and you see what happened ;-)

          • @[Deactivated]: I lived in Campeche Yucatan for over a decade up until a few years ago. There is very little cartel activity near Tulum, certainly not near tourist locations. Very little violence, I certainly never experienced or saw anything.

The taxi drivers are just trying to scare you. I used to drive up and down Yucatan multiple times per month. Lovely place.

    • well I shot myself in the foot the last time I stayed at a Hilton… Meh

  • The city name reminds me of "toodeloo, MF", said Mr. Chow from Hangover.

  • Having just returned from Tulum, the location is on a main road from the CBD to the famous beach strip. It would be a 10 to 15-minute walk to the beach. Paid parking is expensive on the beach strip. Can't comment on the quality of the accommodation.

Tulum is a very famous tourist place within driving distance of Chichen Itza, Playa del Carmen, and Cancun (1-1.5hrs give or take). Heaps of archeological sites around.
