These cards are getting better driver support every month. Intel in 2 generations will be outpacing amd

I doubt it. Current Arc cards are power hogs and that isn't particularly scalable. AMD is doing their chiplet transition teething now on rdna 3 so I expect larger than average improvement in their next couple rdna iterations especially if they have another massive testbed project in console revisions.
No real point in mentioning the elephant in the rooms, but Blackwell is rumoured to be the single largest single generation uplift in decades. If that turns out to be true then Intel and AMD will both be in for a long winter.
I expect Intel to get trounced on all their road-mapped architecture and I would flip a coin on their discrete gpu division surviving at this stage. I certainly hope it pans out because the GPU duopoly is utterly disgusting and stands in rather stark contrast to the CPU space.

12 months ago rdna3 was rumoured to smash lovelace (with various leaked numbers to back that up), yet it's incredibly mediocre. What rumours around blackwell are worth putting any stock in at all?

        • Lovelace rumours were fairly spot on besides the test board wattage that was being reported (more than 600w) which seems to be getting put on 4090ti/titan now.

          • @JerraJones: Nah most were calling around 100% faster than 3090 (7900xtx only 30% faster). Not to mention be faster than the nvidia flagship. The predictions were massively off. It was hyped to be a bigger generational leap than 980ti to 1070. Even the 4090 is only around a 65% leap on the 3090. A lot of hype over this node. Greymon55 a total dreamer. 100% faster than 3090 is looking an entire gen off in predictions and more like what the rtx 5080 will deliver

        • RDNA 3 performance seemed a shock to the company itself given how they deviated from their unified driver strategy until just this week. There is no way they'd scupper their credibility the way they did otherwise since their GPU marketing hinged on it and a thirty something percent uplift is better than average gen on gen.
That said, even assuming unpredictable internal idiocy, it has been a horrible generation for AMD overall. They've made fools of themselves on manufacturing QC, implemented clownish new naming conventions and priced their offerings as though raster is still all people care about after nvidia has dangled the raytracing bauble for years and RT has now become sufficiently shiny to impress across a significant percentage of new titles. Heads should roll for the latter two even if they were acting based on the pie in the sky performance numbers.

This is probably the reason? 3080 for 420 USD.

NIce, really happy with my a750. Drivers are pretty good and most old DX9 games play well now

  • Hopefully the a380 arc will be available soon.

  • Meh I'd wait for a 3080/4070/4060 type card for $500. Provided you don't have slower than gtx 1080.

These current prices were only sustained by mining and millennial fomo

  • I've been really impressed by my A770. They are damn decent cards for the money.

  • It's back on sale until 03/04
