yeah that's a great price for a reliable drive. Cheapest on static ice is $111.90

    FYI, Mwave charge -

    Transit Cover of $2.75 ( optional )
    Shipping to Sydney $9 ( PostCode 2065 )
Not sure if they charge extra for paypal or Creditcards
    Pickup option is free.

Total with extra costs shipped is $111.70

    • +2

They took a $2.23 payment surcharge as well for using paypal.

    • +1

2% for paypal, master, visa. 3.6% for Amex.

    • …So it's NOT a "great price" at all. Unless people from all over the country can pickup from Lidcombe, NSW, then it's the same price as other stores.

      On another note…

"Due to security reasons your shopping cart will expire 8 hours once created, this is also know as session timeout."

Then why was there items in the cart, when I've never been to this site, let alone on this brand-new machine. Someone's got security issues. I've seen 'open' carts like this only once before. Not healthy.

It's getting damn close to my 120GB/$100 shipped buy in point.

Too bad I already bought 2 of the 240GB version from that earlier deal $160ea shipped. But I do have a need for one more smaller SSD. Won't be long.

Oh and is this retail or OEM?

    • +1

Other sites (Scorptec) report this (SSDSC2CT120A3K5) as being retail box with cables, brackets.

    • getting damn close to my 120GB/$100 shipped buy in point.

next generation SSDs will use tri-level MLC (aka. TLC) and will be significantly cheaper that current dual-level MLC (which themselves are significantly cheaper than single-level SLC).
All's that's seen is discounting of previous fabrication/generation SSDs.

MSY sell this for $118. Doesn't seem like much of a deal if it was to be DOA.

I'm just starting to considering upgrading my desktop 10k raptor to a SSD. Not sure 120GB is large enough considering the size that applications are getting these days :/

intel SSD's are rarely DOA, you have just as much luck as it being lost in the postal system… if you want something ASAP and the ability to take it back for a swop if its DOA then buying from a store is always the way to go

I've had a 120GB for the past year… it's pretty painful knowing how much i paid for it back then and how much they are going for now.. but it was all worth it.

Anyway, i put a lot of my programs, if not most of them into my SSD and 120GB is cutting it close. I have about 10GB left worth of space. User data moved to a standard drive. It depends on what you use as well. Games takes up quite a bit of space so if you can live with your games being on a HD.. then 120 should be more than enough.

      • Thanks for the advice. Currently I have games and documents on another HDD due to size limitation of my raptor (69GB usable). Back in the day I use to run dual raptors in raid0. I don't play games often, so they can remain on a HDD.

      • 18mths+ usage… Win7 64Bit, Office, Adobe CS6, and every program/util/tool installed that I could ever want… And I've still got 10GB+ left on a 60GB OCZ drive.

        You're doing something wrong.

        • So, writes are being done to the same 10GB over and over, wearing out the same range of cells until you can no longer write to them (for MLC, average ~5000 write cycles).
The advantage of a larger SSD is not the space for storage, but rather space for wear-levelling.

        • 7 days a week, 18mths… still going strong.

There are plenty of 'theories' kicking-around, but reviews clear them up pretty quick.

People get ideas in their head every day. Reasons to RAID0, reasons to overbuy, reasons to blow all their money. Emotions, impulses. A the western world.

It's harder to make smart purchases. We've got too much money.

  • Just bought one, my first SSD :)
    Thanks!
