  • That was for 128gb

    • +1

      yeah 64gb is really limiting

but where are these guys get NoS pixel 2 phones?

      • 64gb isn't really limiting in any way for the purpose of this deal - backing up photos to google photos.

  • +4

    Use code SAVEMORE

  • -1

    Pre COVID era phone

    • +2

      Those were the days.

    • +4

Oh mah gad, like can you ever like be friends with someone who like has a phone that's like totally pre-covid… eww

  • Can you still get unlimited google drive storage with this?

    • +6

Nope that ended in 2021 afaik and it was google photos not drive. You can get unlimited "Storage Saver" which is lower quality.

      • +2

Was there ever unlimited drive? I think only the OG Pixel had original unlimited Google photos while pixel 2 and maybe 3 had the compressed unlimited Google photos

        • Never unlimited drive, sorry I must've edited that in just before you pressed post lol

        • Pixel 2 and 3 both had temporary unlimited original quality uploads, 3 years or so, ended in early 2021 iirc. Now they just have unlimited high quality / compressed.

    • +3

Nor unlimited Google Drive storage, however high quality photos uploaded from this phone won't count towards your quota of 15GB Google account storage, shared for (email, photos, drive)

      • Google might end this when more new phones come out just as the pixel 6

  • +5

    Still a really great phone.

    • +5

Outstanding phone. I upgraded to a pixel 6a and not a massive difference for general use. Feels really solid. I only upgraded as I smashed the camera.

      • +5

The camera on my 7pro isn't much better than my 2xl

        • +1

The Selfie camera on this phone takes more detailed photos than the 7 Pro.
I have both and the biggest difference is that 120hz screen which makes 7 pro ultra smooth.

    • It will feel real slow nowadays after using latest phones

  • +1

That iPhone 12 mini deal already got a few DOA ones, can't imagine this 2017 phone the battery status will still good?

      • +3

Yeah a bit BS to me and with the word 'sealed' !!!

  • +4

i super doubt its genuinely a brand new sealed.

  • As long as they used a decent battery it will be mostly fine, I am more worried about the longevity of this phone. Its fairly old by tech standards, I am guessing this is long past OS updates and close to no more security updates too.. $150 is a great price but the life of the product dampens that a fair bit imo

    • +3

You can still get monthly security updates with lineageOS

      • Yeah thought about that, not a bad idea but nothing can save it from the ageing hardware.

  • Anyone know what version of android is on this?

    • You can run Android 13 via a custom ROM

  • +1

Bought a 128Gb one last year from Allphones, it lasted 9 months before it refused to fast charge and started boot-looping when plugged into a charger, unfortunately the warranty was not worth the 'paper' it was printed on, so I sold it off for parts, lesson learnt.

I would assume this product is 'as-is' and only comes with a 30 day / DOA warranty, otherwise a nice pretty nice phone even today, and can be updated to Android 13 via the Pixel Experience ROM if you're tech savvy and willing to re-partition the phone.

  • Still using this phone since 2018, battery does seem to need fairly frequent charging now, but overall it's still trucking along just fine. The original USB-C cable that came with mine ended up fraying on one end though, so had to get it replaced.

    I am wondering if I should upgrade…

    • Did you get it from that Oz bargain Telstra port in deal?…

      • Nope, just bought it when it was on sale, no special deals.

        • Ah, well it's a pretty nice phone better than the 6 that I have now, thinking of going back to the xl because it's slim and light, but the charging port is kinda dodgy though.

    • I'm still using this since 2017 (via work). Same dealio with battery but with PixelExperience, runs nicely - though we're working through how to fix Google Wallet after safetynet broke last week.

  • I did :) .. $59 for 24 months and zero upfront cost for the phone..

    • +1

Me too! Still using it now. Just keep it on battery saver most of the time and it gets me through all day easily.
      Last security update October 2020

  • This is still an excellent phone. The camera is as good as you're going to get for one hundred and fifty bucks.

If I was on a tight budget, this would be the phone I'd get.

    • +1

The photos you'll get from this will still rival the Pixel 7 and S23 and iPhone 14 Pro tbh. The Pixel 2 camera is kinda regarded as the best Pixel camera to date.

      • +1

Yep. The photos I took with mine in Japan a few years ago are some of the best I've ever taken with a phone.

  • +5

I got the 128GB model from Mobileciti a month or so ago. Been using it for a few weeks and it's a great phone. It's a tad slower than my Xiaomi Lite 11 (778G) but you barely notice it. I booted up my old LG V30 which has the same processor as the Pixel 2 XL and the V30 feels much slower. The battery in mine has no degradation despite the phone being produced several years ago. The camera blows away any phone camera I've used and has the free compressed backups, which is the main reason I bought it, but I could easily use it as my daily phone too. It does feel a bit odd using a phone with bezels on the top and bottom but you get used to them, and you can't fault the gorgeous 1440p OLED display.

    • Great review. These things still keep going and with the free photo uploads, it perfect for the oldies or the kids.

  • Don't forget it's 7% cashback through ShopBack (New accounts) or 4.2% for existing accounts (Cashrewards is just up to 4.2% for New/Existing accounts)

  • 2000 points on a $100 spend in the woolies reward app for mydeal

  • I had this phone since launch. I've upgraded since, but just a warning, you don't get any security updates.

  • +1

    Awesome upgrades for the oldies.

    • Damn, you're right. My old man needs an upgrade and this wouldve been perfect

  • Any way to use this phone as just to get the unlimited google photos? My main camera is still current phone

    • I have a Pixel XL as a proxy to Google Photos using SyncThing to sync my camera folder between my main phone and the Pixel. Works well but does require some maintenance. I found that SyncThing would sometimes get suspended by battery management - I could dig into the settings and disable those things but for me it was easier to automatically launch SyncThing on both devices on a schedule using Tasker. And then the Pixel XL is only 64GB so I would have to periodically clear up space. I think there's a way in SyncThing to "push" my "deletes" but I haven't been bothered figuring it out.

      • Thanks for the info. Yep the thing that worries me about sync, if deleting photos at pixel will delete the photos in main phone..

        • It doesn't.

          • @tonyamazing: Depends on how you set it up, it can mirror your actions in both locations as part of the 'sync'.

It's not the most intuitive app to configure.

    • Yes, but be aware that it's only "high quality", which is compressed. It isn't terrible for photos, but it absolutely murders video.

  • Any deals for a pixel 1 (og) 128gb? Mine has just died…

    • Hard as nails to find these days unfortunately. I bought 2 as photo uploaders thankfully, 1 to use and 1 as a backup for when the first one dies haha.

  • +4

2017 feels like 10 years ago

  • Why do people still stock new versions of this phone after so many years? I'm worried that it might a refurbished one.

    • They don't, it's 100% refurbished even if it says new in box. There are no "new in box" 2017 Pixel 2s.

  • Gone back to $179

  • Kogan has plenty of Pixel 2 and 3s for $200 or less.

    • But not brand new, most are excellent grade, refurbished or as new etc. For a phone which is very personal thing to me, always prefer brand new sealed.

      • You're not getting a 6 year old phone "brand new", ever.

  • +1

    cough cough
    https://github.com/BaltiApps/Pixelify-Google-Photos
unlimited storage for any rooted phone, spoof to pixel xl
or buy the cheapest android phone you can find, root, use this module and use synching to sync main phone to backup ;)

  • hope anyone who bought this phone from MyDeal can comment on the package, definitely a bit of worry about it BS being brand new sealed, as the description said:

    Whats In the box?
GOOGLE PIXEL 2 XL 64GB AUSTRALIAN MODEL
    Charging cable

Whereas a full sealed package should have all the below:

    What's in the box
    Google Pixel 2
    AC Charger
    USB-C Cable
    USB-C to 3.5mm jack adapter
    OTG Adapter
    SIM ejector tool

    • Ask for a refund if it's not new since it's advertised as new?

    • +1

Just received mine after ordering Thursday night. Box included:

      Phone
      AC charger
      USB-C Cable
      USB-C to 3.5mm adapter
USB-C to USB-A adapter (labeled as "Quick Switch Adapter" in the guide)
      SIM ejector Tool
      Getting Started Guide
      Reference Guide.

Everything listed under "Inside the box" in the getting started guide is there.
Packaging seems original and unopened. But don't know how to confirm.

      • Completely flat battery I guess?

        • +1

Was pretty flat, I didn't check the exact percentage as I started charging it before even trying to turn it on.
