how does this compare to LC49G95TSSEXXY which i can also afford /simpsons reference

    • It's a QD-OLED panel. See https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/compare/samsung-odyssey… and compare with Alienware AW3423DW which also has the same QD OLED panel

    • Some might say the 15… inches makes all the difference.
But im not sure - All the big ones in this manner of speaking seem to come from Asian countries and manfactures… lol…

      shifty eyes

    • Not as SSEXXY

So the Alienware with worse quality control. Sign me up.

What makes you say that? It's the same QD-OLED panel with fewer moving parts

Was just being a bit cheeky. I don't believe there's any hard evidence yet that this particular device has QC issues, more just going by Samsung's track record. Speculative on my part, though I'm happy to be proven wrong. Time will tell I guess.

We don't really know behind the scenes how carefully Samsung is vetting their own panels compared to say Alienware, who could well have paid a premium for less defective screens. Though the yields are significantly better now so that's more likely a non issue at this point. I'd be more skeptical of Samsung using cheaper parts for everything that isn't the OLED panel itself. Just my personal take.

Okay, I was just asking in case there was some terrible Samsung monitor QC scandal I wasn't aware of. I'd rate them about the same, since Alienwares are just Dells with more LEDs.

            Samsung's track record

            Samsung monitor QC scandal

There have been issues with Samsung monitors and TVs in these categories

            • @UsernameChecksIn: As with any other manufacturer. Is Alienware significantly better? Because if it's anything like Dell, then no.

    • Took me three AW3423DW monitors before i got one without an issue and i still have one with fans louder than my actual PC.
Oh an reddit is flooded with people with scratched displays out of the box.
Alienware has the OC issues this time.

My first monitor was flawless and still is, fan noise is only noticeable if everything else is switched off so I'm cool. Sorry you didn't have as much luck, can you return it for another one with a quieter fan?

        • Lol no chance, they refused to accept a replacement for the first monitor which had a very loud grinding noise from a fan saying its normal and would only accept a return/refund which also meant i had to pay an extra $100 as the first deal i got was and still is the cheapest the monitor has ever been.

When gaming it's obviously not as loud but at idle it's louder than the 9 PC fans i have.

  • is 34 inch same height as a 27 inch monitor?

    • Not always, but in this case, yes.

      • I was about to fire the cannon until I see your ID. Hello Jasswolf, from my humble experience all 34 inches I can recall is 21:9 and 27 inches are 16:9… Which makes them exactly the same height? Any exceptions?

        • Most of them are 21:9 ultrawides, but there are a few exceptions. I don't think any are used in the consumer market though. The 16:9 configurations above 32" tend to be related to TVs.

Okay price, but I'll wait until it gets stocked at more retailers like JB to get aggressively discounted like the Alienwares

  • Sweeeet! Dell now has a serious competition monitor to rival theirs. Might even see the price get slashed by a few hundred (hopefully lol) after a while.
I just hope (as mentioned above) samsung get their QC under control and not just flood the market with crap, like the G9 & G7uw. They had some serious issues and for the price…. shame shame.
I'd also like to see a 1000R version.

  • Same price for government store, no redeemable SSD.

That said, I'm not sure if this is fantastic value at 1700 considering the AW3423DW with G-Sync module is cheaper quite often

  • My university email no longer able to log in - any idea?

  • not a samsung partner…. quite tempted…not sure if this will be a sharable code?

  • Now in edu store,$1519.05
