you may want to add something cheap to your cart if you want to get the 5.0ah battery, as its only free shipping above $99

    • +2

i bought 2 batteries so i can get a smidge above the free shipping requirement.

fyi, you can't travel on a plane with the 6ah batteries, that is why i always getting the 5ah batteries.

5ah batteries have 90Wh, and the limit is 100Wh when traveling. 6ah is 108Wh

Lithium-ion batteries (rechargeable) - not exceeding 100Wh in a device

Can't imagine why I would ever need to take power tool batteries on a plane.

        • +7

Yeah, it's a bummer getting my whipper snipper into the overhead storage on the plane.

        • I've got the slip on USB port for mine so my tool batteries can be used as power banks
In saying that I'd just pack my power bank if I was going on a flight.

        • i check in my tools, and put my batteries in my carry on.

        • +1

You might not, but at the very least there are thousands of tradies that are FIFO in this country that would be supplying their own tools on site.

  • Thanks. Bought 2

I love how makita sell a 5ah battery for 99 bucks and ozito sell 3x 4ah for 99

    • +1

Yeah they are pretty expensive..Not sure how the quality of Ozito batteries are but the genuine Makita battery I bought 7 years ago is still going good.

      • I remember reading here that the Aldi batteries had Samsung cells in them, how much better are they going to get?

        • +1

I actually have some ozito tools that are over 10 years old, they are probably the first or second gen Li Ion tools they released and both batteries still work fine, and they were only 1.5Ah, so that's saying something

@Jackson: For anyone who wants to know

A large deck about 30 square meters using a brushed impact driver only to put in decking screws with pre drilled holes.

Makita 5 amp lasts the whole day

Ozito 4 amp Would need to charge at least twice.

I use to do quite a bit of decking. When I had a helper on the job the good old ozito would come out.

Also when comparing cheap tools to the makita millwaukee.. its the weight. Seriously when you using it day in day out the vibrations and weight really comes into advantage

            • @George Washington: Thats good info, but I bet the advantage is in the tool and not the battery. Can you build your next deck with the makita tool and the ozito battery via an adapter? I am willing to bet (missing 1 Amp aside) that the battery lasts almost as long

              • @Jackson: I have a gut feeling as well. The battery should do just fine. I reckon its the build quality of the tools. Better internals in some

    • +1

I love how makita sells $400 skins when aldi sell $40.

      • +2

I love Makita tools can build skyscrapers while the Aldi would break on the 1st floor.

        • +2

To be clear I was making fun of the previous comment. Obviously there's a quality difference between one of the major brands used in industry and bunnings/aldi home brand.

          • +2

@OZKap: There's clearly quality differences in the tools, but I disagree that there's much difference int he batteries. You can open them up and check the cells, and even if there was there isn't double or triple the difference like there might be with the tools, it's simply a tax to pay so much more for the battery from a better brand, a bit like buying the ink once you are roped in with the printer

            • @Jackson: I agree, there’s definitely a difference in the tool but I think batteries, maybe a little quality difference but not as significant. I suspect they make more money from the batteries, like printers and cartridges.

Go to bunnings and get 10% price beat, brings the cost to $89.10 per 5ah, $125.10 per 6ah.

    • +1

I tried, they said no cuz the store wasnt in Sydney.

      • +1

If it was they’d say no because the sky has a cloud in it. If it didn’t they’d say no because India won in the cricket. Or some other lame excuse. That marketing like is the biggest truth bend ever.

      • +1

Go back and try again, this time show them Sydney Tools are doing them. Surely there's a Sydney Tools store in Sydney?

Thanks OP, just price matched at Bunnings

    • Do you go to the tool counter to price match or the dudes walking around the toolshop?

      • Went to the tool shop and they took me to the main counter. It was easy as

    • +1

All in the family anyways toolkitdepot is owned by Bunnings.

  • @TonyPaul

Hey can you just charge me $89 so I don't have to drive to a bunnings? THANKS :D

  • Reckon we might see a dewalt battery sale anytime soon? Can't bring myself to buy a 5ah at full price lol

  • Thanks OP bought 2 5Ah batteries for $89.10 each at Malaga Bunnings in WA after price match.

  • Thanks, OP.
Just bought the 5Ah battery for $99 and added a cheap pair of safety glasses for $3.45 to qualify for free shipping.
Incidentally, Toolkit Depot is owned by Bunnings. You'd think Bunnings would price match their own subsidiary.

  • In NSW, with shipping it's 109 so they beat that and I paid 98.10 for it. Happy enough with that.

  • I'm in the car park of my local Bunnings empty handed as they would not price match because TKD is in another state.

    • Show them Sydney Tools have them at the same price

      • Thank you. I came home and just bought two 5.0h from TKD anyway. Still a good deal!
