Malvern Central store
120 Glenferrie Road, Malvern, Melbourne VIC

Not cheap against online offerings but still a good competition to other physical store chains for your glasses made in-store with eye tests and frame fittings.

  • Same price at specsavers for multifocal$149. All else equal, just depends on frame designs.

    • +1

1.6 thin at specsavers is extra $120 per pair. Whereas 1.59 thin is included in this deal.

      • Yeah the extras is where they really get you. I recently spent upwards of $500 on a single pair of multifocals from Specsavers. Being blind sucks.

    • Definitely not. The coatings and types of lenses are where they sting you. 99 for one pair with coating. Vs 149 plus excluding coating

  • It’s a great time to be a four eyes…
    Yes me too.

Never bought glasses from a physical store. As OP pointed, online stores are still much cheaper.

I get mine when I visit relo's in Malaysia.

Get excellent quality frames and lens for $20 when on sale.

Not sure why glasses are so expensive in Australia.

only Opened yesterday..wrong side of town

  • Anyone have a decent (cheap) place to get prescription lens only? bought a few frames in SG that I didnt get time to get the lenses made up for

    • +1

you can go into specsavers and ask them if you get their cheapest frame, can they fit the lense into your frame instead. If you have private health cover its all covered.

  • The demise of the optometry industry

  • +1

Optometrist warehouse use 1.59 polycarbonate lenses compared to regular plastic (CR39) lenses. Although this makes the lenses thinner, they also scratch a lot more easily.

As long as you're extra careful with your glasses this may be a good deal (if not on your face, they're in the case), because if not you might find you'll have to replace them a lot sooner than normal

    • Not to mention the horrid ABBE value…

  • i always use clearly

  • Anyone know how much for multifocal lenses without the frame - aka reuse own frame.

I assume the $149 price is with the frame included.
