      Costco Moorabbin in Victoria

    • Spotted in Docklands for the same price

  • +4

all time low id think well done

  • +3

I have this one, highly recommend this one. Great value for money. Only cons are that you'd need a seperate soundbar, the audio quality is terrible which is the case with most new tvs these days and comes with 3 HDMI ports.

    • +10

I feel sorry for anybody who actually intends on using their TV for audio.

      • +1

True true, audio for most tv is terrible.
At least samsung is the best out of the worst šŸ˜‚

        • Only because the current trend is for ridiculously thin bezels and thin bodies. Flat screens a few years ago had ok speakers - you could always do better but they were actually usable.

      • +1

There are quite a lot of TV's with great audio that do not require a separate sound bar at all. It just that we don't get to see many tv models and brands compared to other countries.

    • +3

I think if you have a large enough room for a 75" TV, chances are you should have enough space for dedicated speakers.

Soundbars should ideally only be used if space is an issue. Or for aesthetic purposes, but I'd say if you're buying such a big TV that's likely not an issue for you either.

Just commenting this because I think a lot of people assume soundbars are the best possible audio you can get.

      • +6

Literally any speakers are better than TV speakers. You could hook up a cheap Logitech 2.1ch set of speakers and it would be an improvement.

It's just a fact of of the tv world: the thinner they get, the less room there is for speakers, and given that nobody buys TVs for the sound it's a pretty low priority already.

        • Yeah, 100%, soundbar is definitely better than nothing by a longshot! But certainly not the first speaker I'd jump to unless I had no other choice

      • +3

I agree it's weird that the first option most people turn to is soundbars. It really should be the other way around; try to figure out whether you can implement dedicated speakers and then if that's not possible look at getting a soundbar.

A good used receiver can cost as little as $100 and a 5.1 speaker set as little as $300-400. Wharfedale are the most prevalent on the used market in the lower price categories, at least for Melbourne.

        • Yeah, not sure why JB don't have AV receiver and speakers display now.

        • simplicity and wireless connectivity. And buying the same brand also integrates well

        • Agreed, I initially I spent $200 on some second hand speakers and amp and it's sooo much better than soundbars that are 1k+. Plus have had an upgrade path from there.

If going a soundbar I'd just get a ~$500RRP one for under $200 on sale, and not bother with anything too expensive.

      • You forget that we have women in our lives that whinge about speakers hanging out in the corners :D

        • If that's your situation I think you'll have some convincing to do with the 75" black square on the wall too!

  • +1

Do you think this price is available in all costcos or is it possible to price match ? Really keen on getting this TV if available in casula, NSW ?

    • +2

should be since the online price is basically this + delivery.
      Give them a call maybe?

    • +1

Could possibly be nationwide as it's dropped in price online too. Generally it's always a little cheaper to pick up in store as they don't include delivery.

  • +4

    Great price… do I need a new tv…

    • +7

You always need a new TV

  • Do you know how many they had?

    • +4

I counted about 11 boxes left. The staff mentioned that one lady bought 6 in one go.

      • +4

        One for each of bedroom

      • Sweet thanks!

QLED is the OLED you already have at home

      • +2

They knew what they were doing when they came up with it too

Showing 1099 on costco website maybe can ask for price match

ikea online and in store are run completely separately. went to get golfclubs that were $500 online and $799 in store and they said you have to buy it online as the 2 are basically separately managed.

      • Do IKEA sell golf clubs

        • oops i meant costco

  • +1

great price and great tv, paid $1500 during xmas sales.

  • I was going to pull the trigger to replace my 75" LG which shows white bands (backlighting?) in dark scenes with bright light source…but read the reviews and not going to bother as seems this has backlighting issues too?

    https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/samsung-q60b-serieā€¦

Also their "rebate" seems off as selling elsewhere for $1600

    • Turn your brightness up, and your backlight down..solved.

  • Can we price match? if yes could anyone guide me how to. Thanks

    • +1

Call Good Guys on 1300942765 and tell them its still available instore for $949.99

  • Can someone please confirm if it supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. Thanks

    • No samsung dont support dolby vision

  • +1

Good deal, paid $1600 for a Q60A 85" end of last year. Haven't had any issues with the TV at all and good UI

  • Any at Costco North lakes or Ipswich?

    • +1

Just called North Lakes. No discount on this model. They said they have no stock anyway.

  • VA Panel and 60Hz Refresh Rate but great for the price.

    • +1

Lol wut? VA is what you want for a tv.

      • Exactly. IPS is a horrible tech to have. Pretty much any screen with IPS automatically gets a low score on rting

  • +1

Don't seem to be able to add to cart. Perhaps OOS online?

  • +2

Ringwood, VIC Costco is also offering the same price. Grab 'em soon.

  • Does anyone know if you can purchase in store but have them delivered for a fee?
Alternatively do we know if JB or other retailers will go out this price if out of stock online?

    • +2

When i purchased a bulky item in QLD, they did not offer delivery. However, Costco employee gave me some details of local movers, so i contacted them for the delivery.

It seemed they have some sort of arrangement with Costco. All i had to do was to inform Costco employee that [the name of the mover] will be picking it up on a arranged date, and send a photo of the receipt to the mover.

    • +2

When I bought a 75 inch TV in 2020 delivery was going to be a bit pricey, so I tried Airtasker. Once the unit was boxed up (it was floor stock) the 'Tasker picked it up from the loading bay and had it to my house quickly, even helped me get it through the garage into the house. Cost about $60 IIRC, took less than half an hour

  • +3

If anyone cares, energy efficiency rating on this isn't great.

But, turn the backlight down 50% and it's probably equally efficient as any other VA panel.

As for speakers, Sharp and Eko pro TVs have great sound without needing a soundbar.

Add a soundbar to the equation, and the energy efficiency is even worse.

    • -3

      Thanks Greta

      • S.D.E. ? ; )

I'd love to see the Greta energy rating system rolled out mainstream.

Imagine walking into JB Hifi and asking how many small d1cks is this TV?

    • +1

Total cost of ownership is often overlooked, so appreciate the heads up!

    • +1

At this price who cares about energy efficiency

      • +1

        Me.

I was looking at an LG 8k TV. It used more power than my Aircon.

        That..is ..ridiculous.

Poor efficiency normally presents as heat (the LG panel was hot to touch). Heat kills capacitors..so inefficient normally equals 'will die early'.

A 'Greta' response would be 'we all should be concerned about energy usage'.

But seems we are still doing our best to do the opposite.

        • Tbf, aircon is super efficient at what it does, my 2.5kw aircon pull about 400w.

          • @od810: Hmmm, i recon it will be closer to 800w on average.

            The LG pulled 890 watts.

            • @tunzafun001: The COE of a good small aircon is about 5-6, so 800w is a bit high. I have consumption monitor. When i set cooling at 24C or heating at 22C, the 2.5kw unit consumes about 400ish Watts, the bigger unit consume more.

        • No one is consciously setting out to consume as much power as they can… Not unless they have available solar generation above what you can feed into the grid.

Heat kills capacitors..so inefficient normally equals 'will die early'

Internal heat kills capacitors i.e. higher than designed currents, it's not so much the ambient temperature since electrolytic capacitors have a rated operating temperature of over 100degC.

          • @Juice-Wa: Exactly right..people arent consciously aware…

Because they have taken away the consumption sticker and replaced it with a meaningless star rating.

10 years ago the average TV (a 42" tv) used on average 45 watts.

Today the average TV (60" TV) uses 200 watts. This unit is around the mid 200's.

So the average comsumption is up 4 - 5x that of just 10 years ago (and heading north as TVs get bigger), at a time when all the extreme weather events tell us we are supposed to be reducing consumption

Unfortunately most TV is watched at night..so solar wont help..

But to reiterate, most would not be consciously aware.

          • @Juice-Wa: As for caps. Pop open the average TV and see how many are using 110C rated caps these days.

            Most are 70C caps.

Then cap failure isnt a all good, then hits 100C and fails situation. Is a logarithmic curve, with failure increasing exponentially as temp increases, with almost certain failure above the designated rating.

The LG 8k TV was hot to touch. Its destined for failure. Proof is in the pudding really. TVs are dieing in a measley 2-4 yrs these days. This didnt happen 10 years ago.

My point is (with education) we can all make a conscious decison not to buy inefficient crap that will die in a couple of years.

A hot panel that uses quite a bit more power than the average is an obvious red flag.

Lastly, do you really need a 75" TV in a 3m lounge room? Or even worse a 2.5m Bedroom (look at the end of this post). A 50" OLED might be in the same price point, use half the power..and look so much better.

            • @tunzafun001: I can't say that I've opened up my own TV but datasheets from capacitor replacement kits seem be be rated for 105degC. The datasheets for standard aluminum electrolytic capacitors have specifications for endurance at max rated temperature.

Your conclusion that high power consumption leads to decreased life is most definitely incorrect.

Especially when you go talking about 8k TVs, which has 4 time the number of pixels as a 4k. It requires more components to drive more pixels which will all need to dissipate heat.

I'm not making any recommendations as to what kind of TV people should buy, but I am saying that you're wrong to link power consumption and operating temperature as a definite cause of degradation or failure. You're actually more agreeable if you just came out and said you're penny pinching your power bill.

              • @Juice-Wa: Haha, i think we are both reasonably educated on the matter.

Obviously im saying heat is the issue that kills electronics, not high power consumption.

SO.. If 2 TV's the same size have significantly different power consumptions, then that energy is going somewhere. 99% of the time its being displaced as heat.

So Im saying a hot Tv is more likely to fail, and an inefficient TV is more likely to run hot.

As for penny pinching. This is Ozbargain! Thankfully I have solar/ batteries…zero bill.

  • Would have gotten this isntead OLED, a great deal especially for people looking for a tv

    • Would have gotten this isntead OLED

Why? Because of larger and cheaper?

      • -1

Yep and the naked eye won't notice a difference,
Got a LG 55inch oled for 2k would rather get 2 of these.

        • +1

It did make a difference but I agreed larger and cheaper is better than 55" OLED

  • +1

Hardly Normal and JB doesn't price match Costco. JB rep on chat was excited to learn about this price.

    • +8

Hes probably on his way to get the TV!

  • +1

Last one left in Moorabbin and it's floor demo only

    • Is floor demo cheaper?

  • do Costco price match?

  • anyone know dimensions of the box?

    • Larger than 75" XD

I think Samsung site should have it.

  • No Stock in Epping Vic, Any other store have stock ?

  • +2

    Still in stock in ringwood

    • I called them half an hour ago and they said they had no stock?

    • Thanks mate

  • +1

glad I missed this, need a new TV for watching sport
    https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/q60-q60b-qled

    • Need fast response time and refresh rate to watch sport.

    • +1

Those reviews, OUCH!! Kinda glad I didnā€™t manage to order one. If there are so many users who keep referring to the ā€œwhite cloudsā€ (who are clearly not exactly video fanboys if they dont know the term blooming) are noticing them then they must be very very bad on this tvā€¦Iā€™d rather pay a few hundred more and not stare at them every time I look at it.

      • What tv is a few 100 more better then this?

      • +3

As someone who is still rocking one of the last Panasonic Plasma's, that blooming/clouding in dark scenes would annoy the sh!t out of me. The Pana still has silky blacks that give images a real depth and realism. And because it has a fairly solid frame it houses some very decent speakers. I have a Onkyo 5.1 system hooked up but rarely feel the need to use it.
