Why don't you round it up like everyone else to $299 and not use the $25 credit from Google to make it look like a bargain. Considering a 500g prepaid satchel with tracking from Australia Posts is $6.90 the postage ie just insane

    • capitalism?

harsh, to be fair back in my day it was "shipping and handling" very few people charge the exact cost of postage as they do have to go and mail the bloody thing.

      • I would call it the cost of doing business as you dont see people giving surcharges for pay in person because someone has to serve you.

Moots: Actually bit off on the shipping costs there but they are likely using a courier service which includes insurance up to $1K per satchel. Fastway..couriers please… that is my guess for the higher rate of shipping.

I do however agree with your general statement. Tired of seeing companies dropping the price and jacking up the shipping to look more competitive.

    • Your charges at a glance
Prepaid Parcel Post Plus 3kg Satchel $11.40
      Registered Post $3.20
      Extra Cover $3.00
      Total Charge $17.60

I don't think this is a bargain either…..but considering the Nexus 7 weighs 340 grams by itself, I seriously doubt it could be posted in a 500g satchel. And then it wouldn't be insured.

These guys probably don't use Australia post though, it could be more or less. I personally think that for high profile items like the Nexus 7 they are probably better off including the postage, but either way, everyone here is going to be consiering the total price. I don't see a probably with them mentioning the $25 Google Play credit - I have no doubt that had they not included that in the title, someone would have asked about it.

not harsh at all , this product can be bought in jb hifi for $300 with a little bargaining , no postage ,local warranty, same day pickup, no deal here to be honest.

Not really a bargain. More of a "Hey guys! We're selling the Nexus 7 too!!!!"

  • Dealess

  • +2

I think it is far from a "top buy" lol

  • From the reviews I've read it sounds like waiting for Nexus 7.1 is the go, because there a few bloody stupid but easily fixable problems with 7.0.

  • I like how they price RRP $339 from the air. I'm amused.

Also Google's RRP is $319 I think. I read it in an article just before the release date. Which would cover Google's shipping prices ($299+$20 shipping = $319).

  • no deal, more like a ripoff

But isn't this a great deal for those in remote areas unlike us city clickers who can buy it in store. Is anyone offering this cheaper than this price delivered?

  • Not a good bargain

  • +1

Freight is $9.95 now, over all is a good choice for those who may drive an hour to the shop and find out no stock or not on special… BTW, many retail shops are selling $319, buy online is always saving guaranteed.

An hour??? JB HiFi is next door! And haven't you heard of calling beforehand to check if the store has shop. No deal here.

  • Price on the site seems to purposely mislead people to thinking its actually a bargain. It's more or less the same as retail.

  • It's not quite a bargain but it is still $19 cheaper than the RRP which everyone's selling at. With $19 you can get yourself a fairly decent lunch ~
But I do wonder - when are the prices of other similar tabs (particularly 7") gonna drop? I thought Nexus 7 should 'disrupt' the tab market
