Many don't believe in original price crap anyway, especially the price increase and what not. So didn't bother. :p

It's a wireless speaker… it may be a surprise but a bit of googling does wonder sometime.

If you clicked the link you would have answered your question within 2 seconds.

      • -5

Not everyone have the bandwidht to click on links… you know Cyber Security concerns perhaps.

Though I'll not surprise to see comment saying no one buy it for them to try out etc.

        • Not sure why you got downvoted for the sarcasm 😅

      • -1

I knew there would be some smart arses like you. By the same logic, he didn’t even need to copy paste anything; people can just click that link.

Also, people do check the rrp. Discounts are often based on rrp. This particular seller is IKEA, they don’t change their price frequently.

These confused chimps downvoting everything with three breasts and a banana hanging between their legs.

  • Can these work in sync with my Samsung soundbar?

    • +4

Nothing but the official Samsung rear speakers that pair with the particular model of soundbar you have will work. I have an old Samsung soundbar, which still sounds great. I'd love to add rear speakers to it but the compatible rear set went out of stock years ago…and it doesn't seem to turn up on ebay

Chill guys and girls it’s all cool n the gang

No Google Assistant or casting integration?

    😢

    • +4

Just checked the SONOS app. Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa is on the list.

I've been mostly use (my Gen 1s) with Spotify App which linked with SONOS app.

Didn't know Google Assistant is now available. I'm gonna try that.

      HTH.

    • +2

      Confirmed Google Assistant works.

Casting wise, I used to use SonosTube app. It works to a degree (I haven't used it for more than a year). Hopefully it works better these days.

    • It’s got Spotify connect and airplay 2.

  • +7

Apparently works well as a set of rear speaker with a Sonos soundbar…It has been a while since these were on sale.

    • +1

      it does, that's my setup

    • Same here - Playbar + Sub + 2 of these (Gen 1)
      Happy days.

    1. This or the HomePod mini?
    2. Are these speaker actually any good?
    • +2

Neither, save some more and either get the Sonos five or the Apple homepod 2.

    • +1

I've got three of them, I'm a big fan. Mini if you want Siri, otherwise if you're happy with the standard Sonos app ecosystem then get these.

    • To be honest if you enjoy music these are utter rubbish. I got 4 when they were on sale a while back and yes they are extremely easy to setup and they work brilliantly from that point of view. But as soon as I played music through them they did not impress. Specifically, the sound starts about half way through the mid range with little in the lower mid.. as for bass .. what bass. Are they value for money? Well they are cheap so yeah .. but Ill pay a bit more for better sound.
Eventually they'll end up as speakers in the shed or some place where I dont really care about what Im hearing too much. There are hacks online that take them apart and connect them to some decent drivers which could actually be a cheap way of getting a few sonus enabled speakers. As they are though dont expect much from them.

Honestly though they are made entirely from plastic aren't they? You can't expect amazing sound out of them with an enclosure like that. I've seen teardowns they have similar acoustic build quality to a bluetooth speaker but with a piece of foam thrown in.

  • +5

The reason for these going on sale could be that Sonos is about to launch 2 new speakers in March https://www.theverge.com/2023/2/6/23588049/sonos-era-300-100…

    • +3

Plus, Sonos increased prices of some main products in US. Guess AU will follow soon, making this deal slightly worthier.

  • +1

Hmm very tempting, I don’t need more but good price and I have the $10 quarterly voucher i could use with it.. hngghh.

      • Haha. How do I convince hubby though, I can see him rolling his eyes already.

        • Do this perhaps?

            @v8bargain: Number 2 it is then✌️

              • @v8bargain: I take it you have a Sonos setup of sorts already? Assuming you’re buying these, how are you integrating them? I already have a Sonos 5.1 with the tv, but I’m thinking of putting a Symfonisk pair elsewhere in the house just so I can pipe the same music into another room. Do ppl even do that? I know you can but realistically is it something you’d do hmm

                • +2

@Pecan: I have a set of these but gen 1s. They works great, we hardly use the TV so I don't ever need to concerns about other input sources.

Bought 4 of these, 2 to add to an existing gen 1 stereos for musics, the other 2 will be used in different room as 'music everywhere you go' scenario.

FYI, in case if you run into drop out issue, you can access your speakers support info page: http://{ANY_SPEAKER_IP}:1400/support/review then go into Network Matrix for diagnostic. It gets a bit technical from there though.

          • -1

@v8bargain: Nice . Use for a year, return and upgrade

            • @easternculture: ha. Never really thought of that! I might try that.

              • @v8bargain: Need to set a reminder at month 11 and keep packaging intact, and the speakers in a high place away from kids so it still looks brand new

  • Anyone using these as PC speakers?

    • +8

There’s no Bluetooth or AUX, only connects via wifi/Ethernet. Not really made for PC usage.

Keep an eye out for Edifer or Logitech speakers on sale. Better bang for buck if you don’t need the smarts and are just running it from a pc

  • -3

These wouldn't sound as good as a regular sonos sl speaker … and thise soeakers are quite sub par imho…

    • +5

They are close enough, and you won’t find One SL being sold at this price.

    • +1

These were budget/entry level into SONOS speakers when they first release the gen 1s. Personally quite like the sound it produces, although I'm not an audiophile.

SONOS One SL seems like the next level to me.

  • I have the gen 1s and they're great as part of my rear speakers in a sonos arc 5.1 setup.

wonder whats new about gen 2s…

    • +8

Faster processor, more memory, and lower power consumption when in standby mode. It’s also added a longer power cable

      • +1

Wow your response can be attributed to every next gen product. Profound if you think about it.

        • +4

Well it’s the truth, not sure what I was supposed to say otherwise?

          • +2

@Pecan: Completely agree with your comment btw, just gave me something philosophical to think about for a moment.

    • A faster processor, more memory, and lowering power consumption when in standby mode. It’s also added a longer power cable… lightly updated the [button] layout.

Edit: haha beaten to the punch

  • Tempted as rears for my Sonos Beam2!

  • This now brings it down to the REGULAR UK Price of 99 quid including VAT…
    they're regularly priced at 99 Euros ($154 AU) / 99 US Dollars (145 AUD)….

so they can go further down…….

not a bad price now, glad i didn't buy some over in Blighty and ship them!

  • I've got a Symfonisk lamp and a wall-mounted bookshelf as a stereo pair for my bedroom tele and I'm very happy! The only downside is not being able to tell the Apple TV that I want to use them as default output.

    • how does apple tv connect with these speakers, airplay 2?

      • Yep. You can pair two of the same type ie bookshelf to bookshelf natively in the app and then select that from the Apple TV airplay menu.
You need an app called Sonosequencer to pair a bookshelf with a lamp, like I did, but after that it acts the same way.

    • Get a Sonos beam and use these for the rear. The. It will work with Apple TV

      • You lose proper stereo though

        • Huh? No you don’t, with a beam and sub you gain 5.1

          • +2

@JackFrost: Yea but a beam is 65cm wide, it isn't even as wide as most TVs, so your "stereo" separation is less than the width of your TV. To get stereo you need to place the left and right channels roughly 30-45 cm away from each side of the TV. So yes, you lose proper stereo and gain some rear channels. It will suit most people to be perfectly honest.

            • @onlinepred: Right I see what you’re saying. I might grab an Arc eventually

  • +1

i bought one of these when it first came out for like $120. damn inflation!

    • +2

The original RRP for these was $149.

  • +1

    Wifi bookshelf? To store ebooks?

  • instead of using the samsung bar for their nice fab tvs, can you stream samsung TV sound to these? any latency issues?

  • Currently have a Beam Gen2 and looking at the rear surrounds in the One SL's but now thinkging for less than the price of one OneSL i can get this with stand included.

Question for those that have this setup.. TV is wall mounted, couch against opposite side wall.
Do you point the rears at the seated people or back at the tv or like some 45 degree angle.

    • +1

Rear surrounds should be behind the intended listener. If your couch is pushed against a wall, you don't really have much choice, and your next best option is perhaps to get stands on either side.

  • Whats the bass like on these? Rich and deep at low volumes?

    • +1

No. These are okay bookshelf speakers, and good surrounds. You shouldn't expect fantastic bass at this size and price range.

    • +1

I would characterise it as “pretty good for the size of the speaker” - I have one in a roughly 8x4m garage gym and it slaps pretty well, but you won’t mistake it for a Sonos 5 for example.

  • How do these compare against the Sonos One's?

The Ones are extremely impressive for their size.

    • -3

The ones are much better imho.. and I don't really rate them imho

    • +3

Ones are better (and they should be for the price) but these are more than good enough for rears. I find the Ones a little over the top for rear’s because they’re always softer than the front facing speakers.

  • Bought the Ones for like 220?

  • Could these be mounted outside undercover for Hey Google scenario if linked to YouTube premium?

Or even connected to a smart tv that is outside too as a makeshift soundbar?

  • I have the gen 1 and don't rate it, don't use it much, bought an Edifier D12 instead , much better , cheaper and better stereo sound (but black and brown) and better bass

Don't like dumb wifi only without Bluetooth and no other input connections don't like the app its clunky from my galaxy Android/YT music… I just wanted white colour for the living room to match my tv cabinet. Mono not great either but ok sound if you aren't fussy. Don't slam me guys, just my opinion

  • Question for the technologically advanced people- I would like to have jazz music playing in my bathroom programmed when I turn on the light switch. Any suggestions as to how I might make this happen?

    • +1

May be trigger by Google Assistant instead of light switch event with Google Home Routine.

Hey Google, Jazz up my bath time.
      1. Turn on bathroom light.
      2. Play Jazz music in bathroom speaker.

If you insist triggering from light switch event, I think you can use IFTTT setup.
