Order Free Spare Parts (Screws, Fittings, Brackets) @ IKEA

3290

I must be living under a rock. Either that or this has been around for yonks and I've only just discovered it now, but if, you're like me, and bought something from Ikea only to find a screw or Allen key missing, or a bracket is badly warped, instead of driving all the way back to Ikea, you can just order a free replacement online!

Find and order screws, cam locks, dowels and more for BILLY, HEMNES, POÄNG, MALM and other IKEA products. Estimated delivery is 2-4 weeks from when the spare parts order was placed. Customers may experience delays with delivery.

Another great service by Ikea. I thought it should be posted to let others know about it. If it doesn't belong here please move to the forums.

Enjoy!

Yeah this is great, I've even used it when buying something second hand and it's missing some screws, it takes a few weeks to come though so if IKEA is close by you may be better off heading in store.

    • I didn't know that!

    • I clocked it at 3 weeks for one set of keys, and 4 weeks for some shelf clips. different packages.
Ikea has many spare bits in store, if you cant wait. A wall of spare bits at Richmond I've seen

    • free delivery?

      • yes, free delivery, from Germany.
I visited a store 4km away from my home, asking for 6 spare screws. They didn't have them in stock, so they created an online order for me.
about 3-4 weeks later I got a parcel, sent from Germany (the country in Europe, not any suburb in Australia), with exactly 6 screws.

Yeah it's been there since forever. This one actually sends parts from overseas. Or you can get these in person on the spot no questions asked.

Like the above comment said, great for 2nd hand items.

    • one issue is knowing whether some small thing is a spare part. I got some screws and inserted nuts with damaged threads. Went to a store, and they said the screws are spare parts, while the nuts (to be used with those screws) are not.
I received the screws sent from their warehouse in Germany, but haven't been able to find the nuts. Screw the nuts :(

There's also usually buckets of spare parts at the service area

    • +2

I did once but they gave me the wrong part.

    • +3

Those buckets usually only contain the most common items. You can get others by asking them at the service area too. No proof of purchase or whatsoever needed.

    Pv screws suck

    • +16

Why would you bother stealing this stuff when you aren't the intended recipient? Just buy some or go to a tip shop and get a whole assortment for basically free?

    • +7

I agree that is a bit unethical

    • thief

      • +1

How is it stealing when they are giving it away for free?

        • +1

Because its meant for people who bought ikea stuff and are missing the odd part.

(profanity) who think this is appropriate behaviour are the reason most companies dont do stuff like this.

          • @Franc-T: And yet it's still not theft.

Most companies don't do it because they buy in things from other suppliers.

IKEA controls the manufacturing process and uses the same hardware across all their products so it's much easier for them to offer spares.

For a store like Harvey Norman to do this they would need countless spares to ensure every possibility from every manufacturer/brand is covered.

if, you're like me, and brought something from Ikea

    Where did you bring it?

    • +2

He brought it from IKEA to his houserock. Not sure if he paid for it though

    • +3

      Came for the comment

Kind of a weird kink but ok.

Last time I built a Billy oxberg set I got rightttt to the end only to find I was short 1 metal dowel(?) to prop up shelf. Replacement part was shipped from Europe and took like 4-5 weeks … haha by the time I got it I kind of actually liked having a double tall shelf at bottom :/

  • Beware, they sent me the wrong drawer runner 4 times.

Sorry to do this… BUT just FYI…

"I must be living under a rock. Either that or this has been around for yonks and I've only just discovered it now"

How you described it is what living under a rock means

    • +13

Yeah how did they not know how to use that saying? Have they been living under a rock?

      • Goodness, I had no idea. For, you see, I have been on mars for the last decade. In a cave with my eyes shut, and my fingers in my ears.

        • That you Cecil?

      • Either been living under a rock or just found out!

  • There is no spare part number for Ivar lugs :(

    • +2

      101324 there you go :)

      • Thanks!

  • No spare part for detolf shelves :(

    • They had those rubber things for the shelves

    • Only hardware can be ordered unfortunately~

  • +2

it's been around forever but good it exists, they also buy back second hand furniture & give you a credit to use against future purchases

  • +6

I must be living under a rock

    "…under a RØKKA" <- FTFY

  • you can get this for free, you just have to visit the store and let them know the piece you need broke and they'll provide a free replacement

  • +1

I am living under the rock too

  • The irony.. just used this yesterday after moving house and parts going missing!

  • +2

I discovered this accidentally when a plastic piece of a furniture broke.

Was very upset about the amount of rubbish I was about to generate, but then very pleased when I found out about the service, even more when I found out it was free, and 3x more when the correct parts actually arrived 😁

  • Great reminder OP! Thx. It takes a long time to get it in the post though

  • Been available for a while now. If you need the parts asap better to go in store. I believe the parts are posted from Germany or Sweden so it'll take a long time to arrive.

  • Better get it fast before Broden finds out

  • Thanks OP! Bookmarked it for future reference if I need any spare parts

  • This is amazing thank you for sharing

  • Thanks OP.
Looks like I’ve been living under a rock for years about spare parts from ikea.

    • +14

Since you've been living under a rock, you may not also know that the Ikea CEO has recently been voted in as the new Swedish President.

He's assembling his cabinet now :D

      ….I'll see myself out

  • +5

Now the word has spread, it won't be long that it's restricted or paid soon due to misuse by scalpers.

    • People are going to start buying furniture sets to scalp an extra pair of ikea screws?

      • +1

Can get spares even without buying furniture from IKEA. Can order or pick up spares without providing details of previous order.

  • +1

Didn't know there was a dedicated page for this. I've usually emailed support and they sent missing stuff over for free. Larger damaged parts like wooden panels needed photo evidence and got sent out for free as well.

  • You must have see the video on tiktok as well OP …….. ?

I must be living under a rock.

Must be a politician. (Especially if you're also a spider.) Dan… is that you?

  • +1

They used to give parts instore for free as well. I recall the staff member asked to consider making a donation to one of the charity boxes at the counters. 🤷‍♂️

  • +1

Thanks OP. Should have known it before so we shouldn't have sent some of those old "furnitures" to grave.

  • +1

Thanks OP. I didn't know about this till this post.

  • So ummm
Can you build any items from just various free spares?

    • Nope, it's just hardware, not things like side panels, shelves etc.

    • Can you build any items from just various free spares?

      Sure you can

  • +1

Last time I went to pick up a missing screw for "free" at IKEA, I ended up spending another $300, so we wouldn't "waste the trip" on a screw 🤦🏼‍♂️

    • +1

ohh so this is another form of loophole aha

but we need that missing parts xD

      • +1

Yeah, it's a brilliant marketing ploy:

        1. Offer free "replacement" parts upon pickup at the store;
        2. Take a screw out of x% of sold products; and
        3. Boost sales 1000%, all the while pretending to be the good guy, the generous company that cares about customers, etc, etc.
  • In-store they gave me 12 legs for a couch (VIMLE) because I bought another module to expand it, but all the legs on the original were 2cm shorter than the new legs. It was during COVID and they didn't take cash donations but instead asked for $5 on card which I was happy to pay. I've got some other parts like bolts and such for free online though.

  • Picked up some good Lack wall shelves curbside the other day, no stock on the wall bracket 139394…..Damn

  • Handy… each time I’m at ikea (not often) I check their spare bins for the feet for the Kallax but they never have them.

    • Just fyi, they have 100 times the amount of spare parts available than what is at the spare part bins, it's just a small sample of popular parts. You just have to ask at the returns and exchanges counter!

    • Do they still have the castors for Kallax?

      • The little plastic disks? Or do you want wheels?

        • Wheels :)

  • Fairly unrelated, but reminded me of this gem:

  • Lifesaver! Thanks!

  • Just used this yesterday. Took a cot apart and had all the screws in a bag on it and magically they disappeared. Neither W or son know anything about it. Enter IKEA Spares. Saved an argument and will be able to move it on to a new home. Great program!
