9kg Gas Refill $19.95 (Limit 1 Each Day, Free Membership Required) @ Barbeques Galore

1730

I thought this was a decent price for a refill vs swapping at Bunnings for 30 bucks. Combine with giftcard to make it even cheaper.
I used to just swap at bunnings for convenience but their price has become ridiculous now.

    • You will certainly be uninsured in the event of a fire. And your landlords insurance will probably be voided also.

  • How are people checking the amount of gas left in bottles. Ive got several bottles but unsure how much in them

      The warm water trick

      Weigh the bottle works too.

Just need to know the weight empty, some have it printed on the side, or use one you know is empty.

      • ^ As above.

It do it for sodastream/sodaking, nail gun gas… anything really.

  • I hit a few snags when I try to get my gas bottle refilled.

  • Best place to get a fresh bottle? Finally got around to getting my first gas Weber, is it worth buying a new empty from BG + the refill offer or is that amateur hour?

      Amateur hour

try to find someone selling it for cheap on gumtree or facebook.

    • Congrats. Every single thing I read about them is true.

I recently emptied my first 8.5KG bottle, after ~4-5 years of occasional use.
It's quite-ridiculous how efficient they are on gas. And the BBQ looks like new.

  • I usually go to the shell petrol station which is just across the road and always is a competitive price for fuel. Take my car, and my wife is behind me in her car as she hates filling it up. I fill up both cars with the same pump, usually at least 120litres then do a swap and go, which saves 10c per liter for spending over $20 in store. So the $32 has bottle turned out to be $20. If I don't need a gas bottle I sometimes get a soda stream swap $19, and milk or something to make it over $20 spend in store. Then also get 4cents off for the coles shopping, and scan linkt account rewards 4c, so save 18cents total off fuel. I'm in SA too but my linkt account is still active from when I lived in Melbourne.

    • Not sure if you know but you can pay for several pumps at the same time in the one payment so you don't need to use the same pump if you want to save time

  • In Adelaide BBQG advertise $24.95 and Bunnings is $31.85. Bunnings used to be good, but not now. In Southern area Old Reynella a store on main road through the town do a refill for about $24 cash last time I went past.

  • I paid$15 for my last refill but that was before the had shortage. $19 seems like a decent price. Swap& go is a rip off. None of you guys are true ozbargainers if you're paying for convenience

    • Add in your time and fuel/car running costs and the diff is gone. Not sure what a "true Ozber is but at least some Ozbs don't factor those things in.

      • That's true, which is why I only refill when its on the way to somewhere I'm going anyway…
I drove past that servo and saw they've upped the price to $22!
        Damn manipulated gas shortage!

Swap and go is a bargain if ya bottle is falling apart

Most places won't even fill it up if ya bottle is in bad shape or expired

  • Even the classic cheapies (milk bars etc) I know of are $20.99 these days.

  • Expires 14/08/2023… do you guys know if they still do it anyway?

    • Yes, I just filled up a 9KG bottle for $19.95 today.
The Barbeques Galore email yesterday re-listed the promotion, although their website still says it expires 14/08/2023 🤦‍♂️

  • Limited to one refill per person per day. OP can you update description with this?
