      Thanks I added on title.

    • I am very tempted by this, can anyone who has been using these 42" models as PC Monitors for the last year or two chime in please and let us know if they have noticed ANY burn-in at all? For example, where the start menu would be. It will be fine when it's used for gaming or entertainment, but for desktop use I am still slightly worried when it will be used for prolonged periods.

  • +7

Great prices, tis definitely OLED season.
Look elsewhere RBA, no inflation here.

    • +3

Yep only deflation is in the stuff that doesn't matter.

  • +1

55" is the same price at JBs. Also 65" there is $2556 which I believe is a good price also

    • +1

      Added in title and description.

  • +1

    Awesome price on the 42.

  • No 77”?

  • How low will she go? That C2 42” is very tempting.

    • +4

Get it.. I got it today from good guys and its amazing for the ps5 and pc

      • pc

Are you using it as a monitor? If so, how far are you sitting back?

        • +2

It's quite big as a monitor. I'm sitting about 55-60 cms away from it, I have a big desk so can move it further back..

I'm pretty use to it all ready and productivity is great on it.

          • @adamshere: Dang… it’s come down a fair bit since I was watching the price… getting dangerously into impulse buy territory now :0

But yeah 50cm or so… I’d probably need a new desk too.

        • +1

If you have a monitor arm you can buy a VESA adapter off Amazon so you can move it around your desk. That's what I do

      • +1

Also got this as a PC monitor/Xbox Series X gaming TV.
AMAZING! Although, my panel seems to be warmer in the middle compared to the sides when on a white screen. Even noticeable while scrolling OzB.
Hopefully it clears up after a few pixel refreshes but other than that, extremely happy with it

        • If it's still there in a few days and it's even remotely noticeable, return it before the 1 week window (you can return it after, but it's just easier because you can say you just installed it and noticed this massive problem with it). You shouldn't be noticing anything like this on an OLED. Screen uniformity should be top notch for these TV's.

      • Can’t argue with the price. Grabbed one price matched through JB Hi-Fi so I could use the $50 off code from PERKS. Delivery set for Monday. Now I just need to clear all the junk off the desk…

    • Get it now I'd say. TV's cycle and I think they are at the end of the cycle now so new models are coming and will be back up to full price.

I already got the G2 for cheaper than this… Is there much difference

    • +2

      How much was the g2?

      • +1

        2.5k

        • 2.5k

          That's a lot for a 42"…

  • damn, just picked up a c2 42" for 1196 from JB an hour ago…

    • -1

Code expires 3/3 I am guessing tomorrow it still works right? If it does go back and ask price guarantee. They will give you $80 in gift card I think.

      • +1

Thanks, will give it a go tomorrow

        • +1

Offer it should be available tomorrow. It says EXTRA20 code Ends 11:59pm 03.03.2023 . So in my experience they should do the price guarantee. 👍

        • +1

I was able to get the Good Guys refund the $80. Did it in person at the store though. You Should be able to get JB HiFi to do that as well.

          • @saiandkid: tried in store, they can only refund $30 due to the usage of $50 perk voucher. decided to return and repurchase from HN to use my amex $50 cashback. JB online support and sales are helpless by the way

  • +6

That 42 is a great price, but my brain is telling me its that price because its too big for a PC monitor and too small for a TV in 2023.
I can see it being an instant regret if doing anything other than gaming from a computer chair with a controller.

    • +3

The 48” was too big to use a monitor for most but the 42” is about the max you want.

    • +2

It’s definitely big, but definitely manageable on a 60+cm deep desk.
The feet are also a lot shallower than most monitor stands so you can push it much closer to a wall

    • +1

48 would be unusable but the 42 is perfect with a 80cm deep desk

  • Does HN not do cashback? Unsurprising if that's the case

  • +7

Amex peeps, don’t forget to check your offers for $50 credit on HN purchases over $300 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/757056

    • +3

You'll be waiting a while for a decent deal on the C3. If you're ready for an upgrade, id jump on this deal. If you can wait, then grab a C3 in +/- 6 months.
I doubt you'll regret the C2 if you go for it.

      • +1

The difference won't really be apparent until at least the C4 where they are going to add this new brightness layer that uses micro lenses to boost the emitted brightness.

        • MLA will be a great change, the LG Ultragear monitor with it got a great review from HDTVTest

    • +2

Sounds like there’s basically no difference at all..

    • No Dolby vision on the c3?!

      • Surely that's a typo? HDR10+ is a Samsung thing.

    • wait or take the bait :)

New models are full RRP when they come out so expect almost 50%+ on these prices for the C3

  • for anyone that cares i had a look at the cs c2 and g2 all lined up and the g2 honestly blew the others away with brightness and colours.

    • +1

Probably because 42" C2 and cs are using the non Evo panel. I'm not sure you would notice unless they were running side by side.

      • Does the 48" C2 use the evo panel?

        • +2

I don't think so, LG said the 42 and 48 don't get as bright as the 55 and above which would indicate they use the older panel. You'd have to check reddit.

          • @reactor-au: This is also backed by colour calibration tools showing that the 42 and 48 show colours more in line with the older panel type vs the EX/evo panel

      • +1

I thought it was a lottery?

        • I think the 55C1 and 65C1 were a lottery, some were Evo panels some weren't. With the 55C2 and 65C2 they are all Evo panels. The 42C2 and 48C2 I haven't heard of some being Evo panels.

      • All of these are evo panels, says on the title and on the box as well. The original C2s weren't evo but apparently they refreshed it and now they all use evos.

    • I would agree with you 100%. The 77” CS was under serious consideration when Black Friday sales were around…but saw it side-by-side to a G2 and it was a no brainer that the G2 was top of the line not just for brightness but also picture quality. So I guess it’s a waiting game until when retailers decide to clear G2 stock.

  • +1

Does the 20% off code work instore / will they honor the 20% off price in store or do you need to click and collect?

I have a gift card from a previous promotion i'd like to use plus split the sale over 3 amex cards to get the $50 back 3 times.

  • -1

Was super keen on the 42 after doing a little bit of research but by the end of my research my decision was a solid no. colour uniformity on the left and right side is a very known issue especially looking at solid whites. This is a friendly warning to anybody planning on getting a 42 for a monitor. The moment I would run a white test screen on one of these I would lose my mind

These guys seem to disagree.. at least with the 48"

    • There’s almost no situation where you’ll use a full white screen, as you’ll want to use it without scaling

      • People showed examples like going to Google. I've got bad eyesight and I could clearly see it.

There's a lot of talk about it on AV forums.

I wasn't trying to state that it's only visible on a full white screen I was basically making it clear that someone like myself would notice it straight out of the box because one of the first things I do is set a white screen and check all the pixels like most tech enthusiasts.

        • I agree, I noticed it as well. What I’m trying to say is that you won’t notice it in use as you’ll never be fullscreening any applications if you don’t use scaling

    • +1

Agree with you. Got the C1 48 when we had the lockdown back in 2021. Initially wanted to use it as a monitor. Noticed a pink tint on top right side right away. I didn’t even bother using a full white screen to test, I always just use Google to check screen uniformity for whites (for phones, iPads etc). I knew the pink tint would drive me crazy if I used it as a monitor especially when I read or work on stuff that has a white background so I just put it on a side desk to play PS5, Switch games and watch YouTube.

The current price of the 42 is tempting and I really want to buy one but I am worried I might get a unit with uneven tint again. Plus C1 and C2 (under 55”) uses similar panels. I may try Sony next but OLED being OLED, I don’t think an OLED screen with perfect uniformity exists.

      • Appreciate you sharing your experience. I don't know much about OLED but this 42 seems to be aimed at gamers and computer users so I'm guessing a lot of people Will notice and think it's faulty but it just seems to be where the technology is at. This is the first 42 OLED but its problems and similar problems are also evident in the bigger sizes. The big sizes would probably be amazing cinema TVs but the 42 aimed at gamers missed the spot with that uniformity issue that just seems to be normal with the units.

  • Man this is so tempting but scared its going to be too big for my 60cm desk…

  • +1

Same price at Good Guys & JB and you don't have to use HN. Win Win

    • 42 inch dearer at JB just now - $1196 compared to $1116 at HN.

  • 48" was out of stock in Vic metro - JB price matched at $1516 via the chat

  • Same prices ish at JB.

    • 42" $80 cheaper at HN . People can price match. A deal it's a deal.

  • +1

Price match at JB and use Coles 10% off vouchers

    • +2

Exactly!! That's the way to do it. And that way you don't give your money to HN. 👍

    • Coles $100 TCN Him gift cards. JB chat will price match. Get the $50 amex deal alongside and you're laughing. Not sure about any cash backs at JB? Anyone know of any?

      • Oh and the JB Perks/Bday sign up $10 off code. Brings the grand total down to $994 picked up for the 42"

      • Isn't the $50 amex offer for HN not JB?

        • +1

Yeah sorry. and Woolies cards not coles at the moment. I went in store to jb, price matched and I used the bday code so $1106 plus 10% off with gift cards

What are people's thoughts on the C3 that was just announced - think the C2 range will drop even further once the C3 hits stores in a few weeks? Not sure if I should buy now or hold out a month or two.

    • +1

The C3 looks to be an incremental upgrade with a premium 'new' sticker price, just as the C2 pricing was to the C1 during initial release. I did feel the C2 was worth it over the C1 if not for the speedier user interface, but everyone has their own budget.

For those on a budget, the C2 looks to be the pick of the bunch … and then come Black Friday 2023 the circle begins again with the C4 and so on. Maybe spend the savings on a larger screen size, acoustic paneling, soundbar, subwoofer, etc.

FYI Bing Lee also has pricing in the same ball park for those looking for a closer store than Harvey Norman for C2 TVs.

    • +1

Looks like the C2 is on runout. They're clearing space for the C3. Unlikely to stock both.

    • +1

In the past @ 2.5 & 2.6K the 65C usually moves very quick and so we rarely see it go lower - but it has gone slightly lower in some instances.

I think 2.4, 2.4K is a possibility but ultimately depends how much stock is around. LG cut production early on this generation due lower global demand.

  • +2

Price matched the 42" at JB and used Bupa 5% off gift cards for a total of $1066. Happy with that

  • Just pulled the trigger on a 42" for the bedroom, thank you OP.

  • Does anyone have a screen shot of the 65” price? I’d like it for a credit card price protection claim.

  • $2550 plus delivery here and $2555 plus free delivery here for the 65"

I was able to get JB Live Chat to price match

  • Looks like the 20% off is gone. Will the offers be back again?

    • I missed this too. There'll be other sales.
The 55" is up to $2195 now, apparently this price is after $1000 off. Not very competitive at the moment

    • I went to JB Saturday morning asking if they could still give me the 20% off price for the C2 77". They said too bad, sales over. I then asked them to price match VideoPro in QLD as they still had the price on offer. JB said they couldn't confirm that VideoPro had any stock left so wouldn't price match.

I then went to a different JB store - they agreed to honour the 20% discounted price straight away, even though the sale was over. Significantly better service at the second store.

      • Am getting a 55". Would you pay the premium to get the C2 over the A80J? I can get the A80J at $1375 with ebay discounts, and the C2 would be ~$1800 with the 20%.
