Lowest price for the older version of this keyboard.

I had the TKL version and even at this price it's hard to recommend. It doesn't have analogue functionality at all despite using magnetic switches, so you're only getting a contactless linear switch keyboard with adjustable actuation. No Wooting style 'rapidfire' feature either. The case, backplate, and keycaps are all very plasticky sounding (and feeling), giving it the feel of a $20 keyboard. The minimum angle is quite flat, so if you use the raisers it sounds even more plasticky and cheap. The LEDs and housing are very large and top mounted, so many aftermarket keycaps won't work. Even the stock keycaps sometimes rubbed on the LED housing.

    weird post

  • Did you get the tkl from wish?

  • I have the TKL of this and added aftermarket Akko OEM profile keycaps, lubed the stabs and stuffed foam in the housing and it's much better. It's a good one if you like light linear switches, but not many people do these days.

  • I'm no keyboard nerd but I have this keyboard and I love it. Doesnt feel cheap to me at all and I think I'm quite fussy with my peripherals. I haven't owned a tonne of high end keyboards so maybe I don't know what I'm missing out on but I'm happy with my purchase.

  • You sold me OP. Bought 10

    Thanks.

Stay away from Steelseries. Per previous comments I've made, I had a Steelseries Sensei which bricked itself during a firmware update. Despite following all instructions & requests from Steelseries and posting the mouse to them for RMA, including tracking, and despite the fact they had signed for acceptance, they refused to process it as they had closed the ticket and wouldn't reopen it.

Also given the great feedback from others, including OP here, that speaks volumes. There are plenty of other much better products and solutions out there for better prices.

  • It's an interesting keyboard. Hall effect switches are relatively rare, and one of the benefits of that is it is a contactless switch (instead of having the slide push and make the copper bits to connect, it uses movement of magnetic field from the magnet inside the slider). I think Steelseries do utilise the switches capabiltiy for analogue input. It's pity that they only put the "omnipoint switches" (their marketing name for the switch) only on alphanumeric row if I remember correctly.

I guess depending on where you come from that novelty might be good or bad since a lot of the things that people do with their keyboard (especially on the switch side) won't be doable (like replacing the switch with different type of Cherry MX compatiable switches)>
