ive wanted this monitor for ages, was planning on buying it at its previous price, it seems like its dropping… do I HODL?

    • +5

Well items generally drop in price as they get older. If you've wanted it for ages, why not buy it?

      • +14

        hehe i got it

        • +2

          Love this

        • +2

Me too! Getting delivered tomorrow, can't wait!!!

          • +1

@Trishool: Been using it since 3 days after I wrote that comment, can say it has been absolutely brilliant and you will very much so enjoy it

  • +3

I'm staring at my Dell U2711 wishing it would break, so I can upgrade to something like this, but the damn thing keeps going like the day I bought it.

    • +2

I was in the same boat and now I use both that and a 4K 144hz monitor at the same time.

    • stare a bit harder, frown more often, and learn the evil look of one punch man

it'll have to give in one day lol

      • Give it the weird side eye.

    • Backlight isn't intolerably yellow by now? To be honest I didn't notice it with mine until I had a newer led backlit screen sitting right beside it.

      • It may be a bit dimmer and a hint of yellow in the whites. I have it in AdobeRGB colour mode, so it's on the cool side anyway. It's still good enough to keep using.

I almost pulled the trigger on the 43" Dell the other day. Luckily the deal ended before I caved.

If the G3223Q had a KVM built in, I've had already ordered.

    • It took a new monitor upgrade to realise just how yellow my U2711 screen had become colour accuracy had walked out the door a long time ago lol. I upgraded mine years ago, but still remember the wow moment. Haha

It’s still a very handy monitor to hold onto though lot of retro and modern inputs on it.

    • +1

No joke, my Dell U2711 actually died this morning. I feel like I wasted a wish. 😀

I guess 11+ years is a decent run for a monitor, so I’m not that upset.

I tried to get Dell to match this deal, but the rep wouldn’t.

So I ended up getting a G3223Q from OPs deal.

      Thanks.

  • This or the C2 42 Oled

    • +2

Depend on how much you're using it. If you have regular use like most people do, then OLED might not be a good option because of burn-ins

      • Is burn in still a real issue on modern OLED's?

        • +2

For PC, yes. Windows has a lot of elements that are present and static for hours on end

          • @DontNeedThis: You can hide a lot of it and set a changing desktop background I believe.

        • +1

Yes. And everytime you do one of those "wipes" you're just degrading the rest of the panel to be in line with the burn in.

      • +1

Burn in is irrelevant as LG replaces all burnt in panels for free in Australia up to around 5 years

    • I am in the exact same thought here…

    • I got the c2 42" instead of this and I am so happy I went with the LG.. If you have the money go the C2

    • +4

Text never looks as good on OLEDs as IPSs. You can tune windows to make it better, but only so far.

If it's just for games and movies, OLED is great. If it's a workhorse for hours of work a day, get an IPS.

      • Waiting for miniLED for my next upgrade, seems like it would be the perfect middle ground (deeper blacks than IPS LCD, no burn in).

    • Oled tech is amazing. I wouldnt buy any monitor now thats not Oled

    • -3

The c2 is amazing and the sales Rn are a steal. It also has real 4k120 unlike the Dell. The smart features like casting are also nice. Ultimately I think your desk depth will determine what's more usable though.

    • Some people have said that text doesn't look as good on any tv as it does on a proper monitor, may be worth investigating that also.

  • Will this work for PS5 120Hz gaming? :D

Does anyone want to help me with Uni code? hehe

    • +2

      Kind of.

      From rtings

"The Dell G3223Q has a Console Mode that doesn't have any issues playing games from the PS5, thanks to the HDMI 2.1 bandwidth. As the monitor is limited to 24 Gbps of bandwidth instead of the full 48 Gbps of HDMI 2.1, it displays chroma 4:2:0 instead of 4:2:2 because the PS5 doesn't support compression. This makes text clarity a bit worse, but it doesn't affect the gameplay experience. "

Also it has very average response times in comparison to a 42" C2 for example. However it's definitely the best monitor you can buy for under $800.

      • Thanks. I think the best option is to get rid of your dual monitor setup and just put one 42" C2 for WFH and gaming.

  • +1

I have this, it's amazing, but after using a 4k OLED I wish I had held out a little longer. OLED is worth it

    • Yeah kinda want something has good contrast, ips is just not color rich enough despite the color gamut.

But I am on 240hz, it’s gonna be super hard to give that up even just down to 144

      • +2

Everyone is different, but for myself I don't experience much difference between 120 & 240hz, but the difference between perfect blacks & emissive blacks is wild.

    • +2

Yes but how much is a 32" 4k 120Hz+ OLED monitor? About double this price.

      • I've never seen a 32" OLED. Do they exist?

  • Just curious, how long is the delivery timeframe?

    • +3

I ordered on Sunday and got mine on wednesday (shipped from NSW to VIC)

      • +1

        That's fast. Ordered!!

Looks like a great monitor, especially for office use. https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/dell/g3223q

Got this in the last deal. Very pleased. Monitor came in 3 days. Use it for work and PS5.

  • +4

I got this last week in the refurbished deal for $589. $100 or so more for new is alright, but my refurb seems as good as new and has 3 yr warranty. So far so good, main reason for buying was myS3221QS didn't play well with my M1 Mac Mini and had some flickering with some dark videos, but this one straight to 144hz and no flickering noticed. Going from curved back to flat is an adjustment, initially my eyes were perceiving it as curving backwards but am getting used to it. It doesn't have speakers, which I didn't realise until I tried to use them, but that isn't a big deal as that was just for my work laptop. The PIP/PBP has more layout options which is nice.

  • Seems to be $739.90 after 5% discount, price is $779 on their site.

    • you gotta apply the unidays and the dell student discount, they stack

  • +1

I grabbed this last time and really like it overall for office and PS5 use, but if you want to update firmware you must use a PC. You cannot do so via Mac with Parallels.

  • isnt the price $799 usd?

  • +2

Enjoying mine from the refurb deal (came in perfect condition in the end), and would still recommend it at $690 if the spec is what you're looking for. 32" seemed big coming from 27" but I got used to it quite quickly, even on an average sized desk. Gaming and productivity are both great, and I was pleasantly surprised at the HDR capability — not near a high end TV to be clear, but I was expecting it to be more or less useless, whereas it absolutely makes a noticeable difference for HDR content like Ori 2.

Thanks OP, got one. Not sure why since I like my current monitor, but I'm sure I'll justify it to myself some how.

    • You got one but no upvote?

      • -1

I don't even know how to upvote a bargain.

  • +3

Seriously?! It used to be $740 and I got two, and the price dropped another $50 for a month later???

    • +2

I feel you… Got one from the deal last month, thought it was a pretty decent deal back then :(

  • I bought this as an end of financial deal June 2022 - for $850 so this is a steal. Great Monitor plenty of real estate, good for desktop and gaming. Love the powered USB hub, lets me plug my Steelseries headphones into the monitor, no noise degradation. When the monitor goes into sleep mode so do the headphones, Backlight is subtle and understated. I thought it was a great deal at the price I bought it for, but at the current price it is a really good deal. If I didn't have 2 asus 27 monitors I would be sorely tempted to buy this again.

  • I would so buy this if I didn't already have a 34" 144hz 1440p
Damn, looks great for the price and I do prefer 4K for work

  • If any one is looking for a unidays code - NH0?VJD17536PW

  • can anyone share a unidays code please ?

  • Can anyone hook me up with a unidays code?

  • Should anyone be kind enough to share their unidays code with me, please PM :)

  • Thanks op, got this but the monitor came as a DOA. A quick search showed this is quite common. So be aware.

Already created a request to refund.

    • Mine also arrived DOA, no on screen menu and black screen?

They sent a replacement which luckily worked.

      • What was the turnaround time for the replacement, from report to delivery?

        • It took them one whole week.

  • Thanks OP. Mine arrived today. Very impressed with the upgrade from my 6 year old Viewsonic VA panel (1440p).

Have checked out Forza Horizon 5 and COD MWII. Both look great in 4K and the HDR is pretty decent too.

  • Can someone please help me out with a unidays code?

  • I ordered and forgot to use shop back. Would the voucher codes used work with shop back? Trying to weigh if I should decline delivery and reorder with shop back.

  • Do you guys recommend extend the warranty to 5 years (Premium Support)?
