100x Loratadine 10mg (Dr Reddys Lorazol) Allergy Relief Medication $9.99 Delivered @ PharmacySavings

clearance

Hi Ozbargainers,

I've had a couple of similar posts over the past few weeks, but here I am again; Daily shipment turns up, with great anticipation I open the carton only to see that the supplier has sent me what I consider to be short dated product!!

I lodge a complaint and receive a reply stating that ">3 months expiry is considered industry standard, so if I have received product with >3 months on the clock I should basically suck it up", now this is all fine and dandy in an average mom and pa pharmacy where one orders 2 or 3 boxes of any item, but when I'm ordering 100-200-300-1000 boxes at a time, getting items with shorter dating really gives me the p!ps. Another example of an industry and supply chain stuck in 1985.

To add context to this - FAXES (yes facsimiles for anyone under 30 wondering what this fossil from the Cretaceous period is) still outnumber email communications in our business, wonder why Officeworks still sells them - yes for pharmacies!

To add to my misery I open a supplier mislabeled carton (in our store room) to find it contains Hayfexo 30's expiring the END OF THIS March!

So anyway - I have several hundred more boxes of Dr Reddy's Lorazol (Loratadine 10mg) - which I will be liquidating at or below cost (depending on the box sizes) over the next few weeks. And I have about 20x sets of Hayfexo 30tabs which expire at the end of the month which I am basically selling for $0 plus postage.

    Hi Op,
Anything on a paracetamol and neurofin?

  • +2

How much past the expiry do these start been ineffective?

    • +1

With a large and expensive stockpile of drugs, the military faced tossing out and replacing its drugs every few years. What they found from the study is 90% of more than 100 drugs, both prescription and over-the-counter, were perfectly good to use even 15 years after the expiration date.

      Probably a while

      • +2

I wonder how they measure the success criteria, though? Like does "good to use" mean as effective as new? 50% as effective? Won't-work-but-won't-kill-you effective?

Also strange that Harvard Health doesn't actually link a source for the study.

        • +1

Almost certainly they measure the amount of active ingredient remaining in the pill, and work out what % has degraded.
They probably also look at what the degradation byproducts are, and if they are particularly toxic.

I read about a similar study done 20 years ago (or more), so for a long time i've ignored expiry dates on medicines kept in a cool dry cupboard. I think there are a few i've read that degrade into harmful byproducts, so avoided them, but can't recall what they might have been.

    • Good for several years, according to post apocalypse movies!

  • Hi, Jason! Thanks for the deals. Do you folks stock any bilastine antihistamines?

    • They are really slow sellers for us so our pricing isn't very sharp (Allertine 20mg).

  • +1

For $2 I'll give the short dated Hayfexo a punt. Currently using a pack expiring 09/24 so I've got plenty of time to use that after this one :)

    • +3

Thanks - a few brodens have swept in so only a few packs left.

      • +1

        Sold out.
Both out of my cart on the last screen :(

Why aren't these just able to be purchased on amazon.

No need for the 'pharmacy' bit really is there given there is ZERO professional input into who is buying and their medical condition.

Just let Aldi sell the stuff at a decent price given the f-all value pharmacists are adding here.

    • Supermarkets do sell antihistamines and painkillers.

      • And Fexofenadine and Loratadine?

        Good to know

        • Not sure about those two, but i'm curious what you're angry about. Sounds like you really want to be subjected to more gate-keeping, but if not, then I agree - i'd also be happy having more drugs sold at supermarkets, in fact almost everything outside schedule 8. Let the people that want hand-holding go to the doctor or pharmacist, let the rest of us just get on with life.

        • +1

          Yes they do

        • +1

Yes - pretty much all Allergy relief meds are sold at Colesworth, but generally they only stock the originator brands names, generics are quite a niche hence only sold by pharmacies generally who mostly have to "convince" their clients to select a generic over the originator. It just happens to be that many Ozbargainers fit this nieche (ie want cheap medicines, know the products and don't need much convincing if the price is the best on offer in Australia) so its quite a good fit for our business to promote deals here. We sell on eBay and have considered Amazon, the issue with those platforms is they have high commissions and with Amazon (fba) the postage costs kill the deal, as many of our sales are for clients selecting flat packing + no tracking - this is not possible with Amazon.

    • Guess you've never done any light reading on issues surrounding counterfeit medication.

  • It's showing as $14.99 for me. Is there a code to use that I'm missing?

    • Doh. clearance. Thought that was just describing what was happening. More coffee required.

Thanks OP ordered a box for me and one for my GF. #bargain

    • Sorry my bad, code: clearance

  • Grabbed two boxes like usual, my last batch has 06/24 expiry, so I'll chew through these first. Thanks :)

  • Does anyone know if the Lorazol are the small tablets like Trust Loratadine?

    • They are slightly larger tablets, but only slightly. (nothing like Fexo which by comparison are very large tabs)

  • +2

Thanks Jason, just picked up some loratidine. Very annoyed on your behalf about your supplier. I want to thank you for your hard work, great deals and active communication on this forum.

Is this antthing like Phenergen? 😅

  • How can you deliver s2 medications online without any pt consultation and abide by the TGA regulations? Because if you can do it, what's stopping the supermarkets?

  • Thanks for bringing such amazing prices

Saw our immunologist recently and told them all the generic antihistamines our family takes - confirmed what I knew already how they all the same as the originals

  • Jason do you know if the Cetrelief, Cetrine, Chemist's Own C-Zine, Fexorelief, Heyfexo, Lorazol or Trust contain any decongestants or sweeteners like xylitol?

    • Best to use the tga website as guidance, the details held with the tga are quite specific in relation to fillers/additives (search by the medications name, then download the specific PDF) https://www.tga.gov.au/products/australian-register-therapeu…

      • Thanks for the link…checked them out and all good.

Dear Ozbargainers, please note that clients who have purchased multiples may receive their consignment in separate envelopes (ie 100x tabs per envelope), while these envelopes dispatch together - they may not arrive on the same day. Please do not be concerned if 1x envelope arrives a day or so before the other and please don't open a paypal dispute / charge back if you receive 100x tablets when you have ordered multiples - The balance of items should turn up shortly - If the 2nd (or 3rd) envelope doesn't turn up please send a PM or email, I'll look after all Ozbargainers - I cannot bring ultra low prices if clients are click happy with charge backs as to be frank I have not factored loss (or fraud) into recent Ozbargain pricing as Ozbargainers are generally a very honest/decent bunch.
