Was looking for a new mouse to replace my Mad Catz R.A.T. 9 that the batteries have finally died on (again), and saw that the entire range is 50% off at JB. No idea why, and couldn't see it in the current catalogue. But cheap is cheap.
The Mad Catz RAT series are really a love it or hate it mouse. Personally they work really well for my messed up carpal tunnel needs, but I know they can be controversial. YMMV.

Online only, so sadly no stocks in stores.

I have this Mouse (The 4+), feels like I have had it for at least 2 years…and I highly recommend it.

I don't use it to game, just use it casually. It is more comfortable than a regular mouse, has a ton of features, moves very smoothly and reliable.

This reminds me of the days where they went bankrupt and stopped releasing signed drivers for their products, spawning numerous Reddit threads where people pleaded for solutions to get their $160 mouse to work again

  • I have a mad catz 8+. It's a fun feeling and nice customisation. I love the side scroll wheel. BUT the left and middle mouse buttons have developed a double clicks after only 6 months. I just wish it lasted longer.

    • Have you looked into replacing the actual click buttons on the mouse? I had to do it on my current Logitech one. A quick browse through AliExpress (and a month of shipping), a 15 min disassembly/reassembly process and my mouse is as good as new.

      • Yeah i might if I want to use it again. At the moment I'm rocking the Logi Lightspeed g502 which I prefer for gaming now. But the Rat 8 was better for working

        • I loved that I could move the shape of the rat mouse around.

Replacing the clicker on my g903 mouse was easy. Apparently it's a known issue with that mouse.

Glad to see JB sells this brand now. like 7 yrs ago I went to JB and showed a pic to them, they said never seen it before. is it really a mouse LOL.

  • Had 2 rat 7's years ago.

Both times the mouse wheel and audible left Clicks stopped working

    Syder's cut

  • I still have my rat mouse from eons ago. Just couldn't bring myself to chuck it out when I changed mice.

    "The R.A.T. 8+ is constructed around a super lightweight chassis…" It weighs 157 grams…..

    • +1

Well, it is a rat. Imagine their regular weight chassis haha

Almost 50% heavier than the 'old' g502 lol. The mouse looks like an abomination like the other dime a dozen 20 dollar cheap arse mice you'll find on ebay+amazon that look flashy but feel cheap despite the heavy weight unlike g502. Ewaste.

  • this has been my go-to gaming mouse picture when i am trolling my friend.

  • R.A.T. 8 gone.

  • Not sure about their mice

But Mad Catz console controllers are historically absolute POS

  • Seems like Officeworks has pricematched in on their website - https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/madcatz-r-…

they work really well for my messed up carpal tunnel needs

Claw grip (from jb hifi website) means it puts more stress than vertical ergo mouse, so how did it help? Do you hold it differently than you normally do?

    • No claw grip. Just gives better palm support and a good rotation for my wrist. Somewhere between the Razers and the MX Master.

  • In a wide field, this is the ugliest mouse I have ever seen.
