Wow, looks like PS5 is in abundance, totally different back to the pandemic period…

  • +54

The Bravia promo is how I got my PS3 back in 2008.

    • +12

IIRC that was some insanely great value considering the costs of Blu-ray players back then

    • +5

Same! And it was by redemption, so you could haggle the prices down too

    • +3

In a roundabout way me too. Family got a Wii with a Panasonic TV, then someone on a forum wanted to trade it with their PS3 they got with a bravia deal as their kids wanted a Wii.

      • +2

I also got a Wii with a Panasonic TV! Sold the Wii (already has PS3) and still have the same TV…

      • +1

Yeah Wii still hold up to this day. I kept my one from 2009 13 years later my kids loving it. Still running on component connection. They like it better than switch

      • I remember that deal… my wii had already been claimed by a staff member at HN >:(

    • Me too! I had that TV until 2 years ago as well.
Finally died and I was allowed to get a 4k OLED :D

    • +2

That deal was better as PS3 was via redemption, so I was able to buy the TV at a discount with gift cards.

The TV is still being used as our secondary one.
We also had the panel replaced out of warranty because Sony acknowledged that there was a manufacturing defect.

    • I saw this and had similar hits of nostalgia.

    • +2

Yes but it was $2700 for a 40 inch, which also weighs about 10 times more than a 40 inch today.

    • me too ! bestest deal ever

    • Likewise, alongside a blu-ray player. No idea why they did that but it was a UK deal and I sold the player on ebay for about 200 pounds the same week. Good times.

That TV is now the bedroom one, and with a Nvidia Shield attached is still decent enough for modern use. Heavy af though and waiting for it to fall off the wall!

Just make sure you cross-shop as Sony Store's prices can be quite higher than other retailers so it's not quite "free free".

  • +3

Can you still get free PS5 with price match?

    • Pretty unlikely, exclusion list on price match includes “ Prices where an item is part of a package or bundle”

  • +8

90k 85 was 2999 last friday so not a great deal if you dont game

    • +3

Agreed, in fact it's no deal, just the same TV deal with a PS5 at RRP

      • Sony will be perpetually making money off you with PlayStation games, accessories and subscriptions so it's an investment for them to keep you in that ecosystem

  • +1

I almost kicked myself for not waiting for this deal, but those TV prices aren’t great. If you time it right you could make a better combo deal yourself.

  • +2

probably better off getting the PS5 separately now that stock is easily found and was discounted using ebay codes today https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/760776

    • “Free PS5” might be a better sell to some finance managers though.

  • +2

Sounds better than it likely is given sale prices lately on TV's.

This time of the year is always great for TV bargains with new models incoming.

  • +1

I am relieved (since I bought recently) and disappointed at the same time that the A95K isn't in this bundle.

  • +1

Sony did the same deal back in the day when PS3 was new and their "glass-frame" LCD TVs were considered a design "icon". I bought 3 TVs and got 3 free PS3s. Still have them all. Still work well. This takes me back…

  • +7

Bad prices? Doesn't look like a great deal

    • +16

Don’t get the upvotes, everything was 20% cheaper just few days ago lol

      77” a80k was $4174 eBay Sony

      83” A90J $5360 eBay Sony

      Sony 85" X90K $2900s

      [Sony 85" X95K $5159 @ David jones 22/02]

If you can find a cheap deal & price match then different story, otherwise keep away from current prices

      • +5

        Blind up votes imo.

Just thinking this sounds awesome! Free PS5!

      • +1

It cool there is a sensible Wolf here !

      • +1

Agree with @RogueWolf, not a good deal at all…

  • I wonder if the SONY Store will accept price match as well as honouring the free PS5 deal?

    • +2

No chance. The bundles are separate items on the Sony online store and as such have their own product page.

There's no 'request price match' buttons on the pages like there is on the individual TV listing's.

      • You’re wrong.
If you click the links for each offer, a pop-up appears that offers price match.
I wonder if you can still get price match and still be eligible for a PS5?

        • Ah, my apologies.

Still very unlikely though. As mentioned in a earlier comment, exclusion list on price match includes “ Prices where an item is part of a package or bundle”

        • -1

Why'd you ask the question when you thought you knew the answer?

Terms suggest no as above. So it's not a good deal.

      • -1

        This^

  • Wow X95K is twice the price of the X90K? Hard sell

    • +4

384 mini LED dimming zones in the X95K vs. 59 array zones in the X90K, and essentially double the brightness in HDR content.
Also better reflection handling. If you're using the TV in a bright room the X95K will perform significantly better.

  • -2

They have started this.. Now every house will have a PS5 and a PSVR2

  • +1
  • Don’t forget 6.5% cash back from ShopBack.

  • +4

These TV's are all about to be replaced and can be found on sale elsewhere. As an example, the $7k 85" X95K (which is about to be replaced with the X93L) was on sale last week for $5k, meaning you are paying $2k for a PS5.

    No deal sorry.

  • The PS5 is not 'free'.
