  • Is it just a walk-in ?

    • Yup just go up to the counter and they will offer it to you

  • +4

Can confirm! Eating it right now. No line as well

  • +1

    Standard price is $14.

They told me they will be serving until stock runs out (which they estimate to be around 4-5pm).

    Thanks OP!

  • Thanks op , had one

  • I gotta say, for a ‘chain’ ramen restaurant, Hakataya slaps. I miss the days of all you can eat noodle at the OG Gold Coast branch.

    • Is it worth trying? I've yet to go (I've been to Taro's, Beppin and Danbo so far)

      • +1

Don't go, if those are the ramen restaurants you've been to, you'll only be disappointed.

      • taro

You are going to be very disappointed if you tried taros

But taros you can’t get at Garbo or Sunnybank

        • Must’ve been unlucky or something because I got Taro’s in Woolloongabba and it was pretty underwhelming considering the praise I hear

          • @bestywesty: Taros is the worst ramen I've ever had, and I've tried most Brisbane ramens. I worked in a ramen shop in japan fwiw

            • @belongsinforums: @belongsinforums which would you rate as the best?

              • @ilubbargains: In Brisbane? None are outstanding that I've tried. Hakataya is fine when it's free. I occasionally eat at men ya go. For the price, it's decent but their salt ramen isn't great.

The newer one opposite asian arcade has an interesting chicken ramen.

If you're ever in Melbourne, there's a little Chinese shop that does amazing Chongqing noodles, in their equivalent of queen's plaza .

In Japan, ginza bonten is killer. In Okinawa, the two famous oki soba shops shit over all of the above.

                • @belongsinforums: Actually there is a Japanese restaurant called JFX in Gold Coast and they have an amazing Yokohama Iekei style ramen, the best I think in Queensland I’ve been looking around.

Only if you like the iekei style though it might be too much for people who like it simple.

                  Source: trust me

            • @belongsinforums:

I worked in a ramen shop in japan fwiw

As someone that ate ramen literally every day in Japan for a month from 5 star options down to literal hole in the wall setups, Australian based shops just hit different.

        • -1

Taro is rubbish just pure salt

    • +3

Danbo is the goat of chain ramen though. Then we also have Taro's in Brisbane, and right down the road from this Hakataya is Beppin… Hakataya is great for free though, I went and got a bowl from this deal.

      • Fingers crossed that Ichiran one day comes here.

        • +1

Try ginza bonten in ginza. God tier

      • +1

did you mean ramen danbo on gowan? i thought it was pretty average on both occasions :/

        • +1

Yeah. The sunnybank hills one is quite hit and miss from time to time, but I've never had an issue at the Southbank restaurant.

    • Hakataya slaps

I agree. Slaps harder than Will Smith lol

    • Yeah, even Ramen Champion put a 5 noodle refill limit on.

  • Looks like their payment system isnt working haha probs why!

Just got it for free, 6 min wait

  • Were any of you cheapasses game enough to ask for extra noodle lol

  • Thanks op, had one was great

  • Cheers OP, had to wait about ten minutes but free ramen is free ramen.

  • the noodle they serve isn't actually ramen but soup still tasty

    • What is it?

      • thin egg noodle without orange colouring because they wanted to cut costs

traditionally there's no egg in the ramen

  • Thanks OP! Had already had lunch but couldn't help myself to some free ramen.

  • great deal but unfortunately they only sell pork ramen? couldnt see a single vegetarian or vegan option

    • there is… just tell them to hold the pork hahaha

but it can't be vegetarian anyway the soup is full of animal parts

    • What other kind of ramen could you possibly want? Maybe tofu if you're off meat for a diet>?

      • Most ramen places ive been in bris like Motto Motto and Taros and Men Ya Go and the like have at least some vegetarian option (the wife prefers this) so i was merely stating i think everything here is pork and there is zero other option as an FYI.

  • No more guys. Security guard is there just in case.

    • Just incase what lol

  • Keisuke in Perth or GTFO.

    • Why not just pick a random shop in Japan

  • free again today until they run out

    • For real?

      • indeed, check their FB page
