Not bad for the Pro version, but it’ll get lower soon.

  • Poor antenna/$ ratio

  • Whats the pro got over standard?

      • So the non-pro version is basically better? You won't notice much of a difference in the cpu speed but it has 2× usb3.0 over 1×usb3.0 + 1×usb2.0.
I don't think this is a good price personally being only dual band and not tri at this price point.

        • How is it 'better'? Or do you mean better value?

          • @Skullytor: Just the faster usb3.0 ports is better. I think these days it should be a standard. For the price i think there COULD be a better option. Be it in mesh form or router.

  • Anything in the $200-$300 range? Not gaming, but do have a lot of IoT devices

  • Great router,

Still the same price as 18 months ago though

  • I want the RT-AX86U or RT-AX86U Pro to be my next router. I'm on the RT-AC68U now and its still holding up nicely. Waiting for a greater deal.

    • Same boat.

      Those 68Us are a beaut.

      • Same here just for upgrade, use this as main router and ac68u for the aimesh for bigger house. Feel this way is safer than UK or China version even is cheaper

I upgraded recently from a TM-AC1900(AC68U). It's been worthwhile for me, though, if you're not experiencing issues it is definitely not worth doing.

      • Quest 2 Airlink is more stable
      • On the rare occasion that file transfers have been needed, there's been an improvement in speed which has been nice.
      • Better range - reaches throughout the whole house now. I was previously considering a third AImesh node.
      • I run the marlin firmware on my AC68U - no issues.
Range could be better- however it 'just' reaches to across the whole place

Personally, I was running Merlin and the router was solid for the 4.5 years I used it. The AC router reached to the back of the house but was slow and unstable.

          • @ihfree: I run an eithernet over power to boost the PC furthest away from the wifi
Good to read the AX86U is more powerful! I'll keep looking for a better deal. No hurry

    • 68U is the king of all routers
