Honest opinion, skip the s23 and go the + or ultra if you want semi decent battery life.

    • Yeah and still no UWB unless you go + or ultra either even in the S23 generation.

Not that the smarttags+ are particularly good

Yeah I wish I held out and gotten the S22+ instead (bought the S22 last year).

Although each new phone is just a minor update from the last model.

Same thing with Apple btw but with Apple they also nerf their older iPhone series via their iOS updates, so people are compelled to buy their most latest devices.
Samsung does the same or are they any better?

        • +1

Sadly not. For Android phones the older ones tend to stop receiving updates after some time or the battery will be so bad that you need to charge the phone twice a day (depending on how much you use it). Either or both will force the user to upgrade.

          • @robotfrom1984: lol, Samsung’s are no better then.
And even on the pricing front, they are just as outlandishly expensive as iPhones now.
Damn, normally free markets were meant to iron out these deceptive practices and not enhance them.

this would be a factual statement if it was made any other time in the past decade or so, back to the snapdragon 810.

because, once in a while, qualcomm puts out absolutely shit-tastic SoCs that are functionally 5-10 years behind, and the snapdragon 8 gen 1 (not the Plus gen 1 or gen 2) happens to be one of those duds.

so yeah, the rest of the phone is minor, but the battery life is easily doubled and operating temperature cut in half by going with a non-SD-8G1 phone.

People are posting 10 hour SOT on reddit with standard S23.
Seems to decent enough for most users.

Yeah I have this and it's a great phone, but the battery is a pain point.

    • This deal is for the S22. The S23 has reportedly better battery life. I've found my S23 to be great so far.
