@RG146 I feel you mate. This thing has been really useful for all our kids, recommended

    • Was tossing up this and the Oricom one which is $39. I love a discount so I’ll get sucked in to buying this.

Hoping my 3 year old takes to it!!

My kid: no, I don’t need a nap. The clock is yellow which means awake time mate.

    • So can you use it for both nap and night time?

      • I have the Kmart one but no, it just sits there during the day making awake time, I mean you could prob re program it every time but I cbf

        • Ok this changes things… was hoping to use it for nap times as well

        • +3

Oh wait - nah this one let’s you set multiple times

“Two time settings and audible alarm: Set a different weekday, weekend or naptime wake up time, plus the optional audible alarm is perfect for routine wake up times”

      • Yes. There is a day and night sleep time setting

My mom would just squirt me with water until I got up.

      • +2

        Ok but what about step-mom

        • +2

She was a different kind of squirter. I'll see myself out.

    • Kid: …and?

  • +2

    Kmart version is also great.

  • +2

Eh, pretty much the same thing from Kmart for $32 - https://www.kmart.com.au/product/sleep-trainer-toddler-clock…

Apart from the audible alarm, I don't see what this over-priced Tommee Tippee clock does that the Kmart version doesn't . Arguably, the Kmart version is a lot less busy.

    • Yeah looks like the Oricom one which should do the job.

Alarm will be handy as we keep a fairly strict nap wake up time to prevent nightmare night times

    • This one also lets you set two separate times which is a huge bonus

Can vouch for these. Worked like at a charm when my little one started to wake up very early at around 3 years old.

  • We had this with our first and it was good.
    Plug/cabling got ruined though.
For the second child we have one shaped like an owl that opens its eyes when time to wake up etc
It’s OK but the groclock i would say is better given the kid has a better indication of how close to wake up time they are if they wake up early. Not that it would make a difference with my tyrant/second child.

I personally would look at Facebook market place for stuff like this…
Have the Oricom one, it helped for the first few month. 2.5 year old doesn't care if it's day time or night time these days… She wakes up few times a night regardless of what the clock shows…. Driving us insane

    • Yeah I saw one on FB asking $20 today.

      • +1

        I got mine for $5

  • I bought one but could never teach my kids how to work with it. Tips?

    • There’s a story book that comes with it you might like to try? You can probably find a pdf version

    • +5

You need to teach your kids what the colours mean.

So this means for a few days at the start of the journey when they wake up early you take them back to bed and lay with them and say "mr clock is blue it's sleep time" and lay there with then even if they don't sleep

The moment the clock changes excitedly say "mr clock is orange it's time to get up" (no matter how tired you are, be excited)

Repeat this for a few days or a week and they learn that blue = bed, orange= get up

They can pretty much comprehend this from just over 1 year old

The above worked with all 3 of my kids

    • I started too early with my kid, and it wasn’t working at all. It came back out a bit after 3 1/2 and it’s working much better now.
Only problem is she feels she HAS to be up of the sun is yellow and comes staggering out of her room not at all ready to go. But def keeps her in bed til a reasonable hour.

I have the connected version and it’s great to be able to remotely set the light or lengthen the time before it changes colour :)

Unfortunately a few months in and my toddler ignores the colours of sleep vs awake unless it’s to her benefit!

    • Oh there’s a wifi version?

      • Yeah, it’s almost twice the price though

        • Yeah bought it from Amazon for $59.99 half a year ago. Still happy with it though.

Read the reviews before your buy! Big issues are charging and not being reliable.

  • I heard of the Kmart ones being much cheaper and decent. Look, theyre all cheap ch*na made stuff so i dont reckon the branded ones are much better, to justify the price difference. Telling for a friend.

  • Have had one for about 6 years, used it with both of our kids.

Works great, means we don't get disturbed before 8am on weekends and 730 for weekdays.

    Highly recommend it.

The stars are useful for them to know how long left as well.

I have one of these but it's pretty much useless. Worked for a month, but then my 4yo figured out how to unlock it so he just wakes up and changes it from blue to yellow. "Mum! Dad! My owls awake"….

    • Smart kid :)

    • +1

Ours tried that - no TV time for the next few days fixed that quick smart.

Kids have worked out that wake parents up early = grumpy parents = not good for them.

  • +1

If anyone is looking for a different alternative to these, instead we have a Phillips hue lightbulb in the kids room, programmed to turn certain colours at certain times.

No waking up before 6am (7am on weekends) unless the globe is blue. Programable via the hue app.

You can even set it up on a nice slick colour change/gradient over 5 minutes or so.

  • My wife accidentally broke one of ours today (trying to find something else so she could save $18…), so this is perfect timing.
