What is the activation fee ?

    • +1

You forgot the quotation marks around “activation fee”

  • +7

    $50 card - lose $3.45 after fees
    $100 card - lose $1.95 after fees
    Variable load $159 - breakeven

Sweet spot for profit is getting a variable load for anything more than $159, and even then I don't think it's worth it unless you're trying to reach CC bonus limits

    • +1

Yeah better off buying the Coles Gift Mastercards (current week) or Vanilla Visas if you're in NSW/ACT (starting Wednesday). Not just better discounts but cards can also be used online unlike these. Unless you're worried about them getting hacked I guess (never happened to mine, been buying them for the last couple of years).

      • +3

I bought a bunch of Coles Gift Mastercards on Nov 22. I had $101 unused on one card.
I checked the balance yesterday and found 4 TikTok purchases totaling just over $90.
        I have begun a dispute with Incomm.com.
As others have mentioned - only buy if you are going to use them immediately.

        • +1

Did you end up getting your money back?

  • +3

So $25 worth of reward points on a $500 card less the $7.95 fee, $17.05 net profit….not bad I guess

    • +2

The rewards points have a 'face value' of $25, but they are effectively a WISH gift card, which can be readily bought at a 3% discount. That reduces profit to $16.30 or 3.26%

However, you could buy the EFTPOS card with a high points amex card to use at places that don't accept amex, potentially improving your profit percentage.

      • Thinking about buying a $500 card with my AmEx so I can use it at Aldi. I'll take any Aldi discount I can get and I can double dip by accruing Amex points while still shopping at Aldi. Being an EFTPOS card there's also no extra surcharge at Aldi.

    • +1

I can get 4% off through RACV. Or $20 off on $500 gc. So it's a no from me

      • -2

        4% off on what?

        • Woolies gift card

      • let me know when you can get 4% off an EFTPOS gift card

  • +2

So the $507.95 GC will earn you 5000 ED Rewards points (aka $25 worth) ?
So $17.05 profit in Rewards dollars ?

  • +1

So by my math, the greatest saving you could make would be purchasing a $500 card, receiving $25 in points, minus the $7.95 activation fee.

    So you'd save $17.05 on a $500 card, or 3.41 percent.

Edit: Beaten by those above, d'oh!

  • +1

Double dip from Coles eftpos offer?

    • Or just 'recycle' the Coles cards if still possible.

    • +1

No, as it may take payment, but then not approve the new card. Worst still, is public shame and an angry manager, with no way to get a refund as it was never allowed, so lost funds. A weekly shop booster would net you more points whilst keeping your dignity.

  • These cards can't be used online?

    • No online.
      No tap and go.
      No insert in machine.
      Swipe on machine only.

      • -4

You can add them to the rewards app, I've never done it but might make them easier to use.

    • -1

You need a card card reader and pin pad attached to your computer.

  • I know I won't get Everyday Rewards point for the card spend (just the 10x bonus points): "Standard points will not be earned on amount spent on gift cards, but the relevant number of bonus points which you qualify for under this offer".

But if I'm an Everyday Rewards Extra member do I get my usual 2x points on top of the 10x bonus? Also if I pay for it using Everyday Pay, do I get the bonus point (1x) too?

Or does none of this apply to gift cards and all I get is the 10x points?

    • +1

      Doesn't apply

      • Thought so, bugger :(

  • Can the variable load card be reloaded?

  • +3

I just purchased two variable load gift cards and was awarded 0 points at the checkout.

    I hate Everyday Rewards sometimes.

    • You should get the bonus points later right?

      • I may get it automatically later, or I will have to chase up Everyday Rewards 14 business days from today.

I don't want to have to do the latter, because the last time this happened to me, I called Everyday Rewards three times after waiting 15, 16 and 18 business days, but the first two calls, Everyday Rewards staff told me "please wait, it will be automatically fixed tomorrow". It wasn't, so the third time I called, the staff member pulled the same excuse, but I pointed out I was lied to twice already and I threatened a chargeback due to Everyday Rewards clearly breaching the deal's terms and conditions, and the staff member escalated it to their manager, who fixed it on the spot!

        • +2

WW is very dodgy, the last time they did autocredit probably after many ppl called and complained, they only credit for 1x points. i.e if you buy 2x $500 card you only get 5000pts.

It also happened with Apple GC as well. If it is not auto awards points I won't be bother buying. It is a waste of time having to call to complain.

We should report this to ACCC, many ppl don't bother to call to complain and WW didn't credit the correct amount of points and just kept it for no consequences.

This is not the first time so there should be no excuse on IT issue again and again. They have done this now is 3rd or 4th times to not giving correct points and hoping ppl won't bother to complain. They need to either don't run the promo or they should get big fined so they can learn their lesson.

I will be making ACCC report regarding this and I hope you guys also do the same.

        • +1

Same experience. I purchased a $500 variable and no points. It took me 5-6 calls and a ACCC complaint last time to be awarded. This is very deceptive practice from Everyday Rewards. I wonder how many people would just let it go, as it’s too difficult.

          • +1

@Obbey1999: I purchased 5 x $500 variable load gift cards this morning and was awarded the 25,000 points at the checkout. So there are cases where it does work,
I have also experienced what you guys have cashing up ER for weeks.

            • +1

@Harry97: Maybe I'll have more luck after today!

            • @Harry97: Just got and can confirm also got the 10x points immediately

            • @Harry97: Your local is letting you do$2500 in one transaction?

              • @googoogaga: That will cause issue, not all staff have authority to approve pmt over $2k and the worst part of WW system is it doesn't throw that error if you split payment until that last payment over $2k.

If you buy at night there is no manager in store that have power to approve the transaction and you are in trouble. The only way to fix it at that time is to remove some items to make txn under $2k and they need to refund you for the difference if you have paid more than the total amount after items removed.

            • @Harry97: They seems to fix it now with self checkout but manual checkout still doesn't have correct points.

        • the ultimate everyone deal that ended yesterday 3 out 4 got the 20x instantly but the one didn't work gave me $1 a point… off I wait 14 business days. BTW the one didn't gave me the 20x points was a Metro store instead of the usual Woolworths Store…. Won't be going to Metro Woolies again for GCs

    • Maybe you brought the wrong cards or you already brought 5 today. There is a maximum of 5 per person per rewards everyday,.

      • I definitely purchased two Perfect EFTPOS gift cards in one (and only one) transaction and it is the first Perfect EFTPOS gift cards I have purchased at Woolworths in a few months. They look identical to the ones pictured in the catalogue, and they look identical to the Perfect EFTPOS gift cards I have purchased in the past. They also have the same stock barcode number as Perfect EFTPOS gift cards I have purchased from Woolworths in the past. The description on my receipt is Giftcard Eftpos Varble25to500 Dollar, which is identical to the Perfect EFTPOS gift cards I have purchased in the past. They also have gift card numbers starting with 638947, which is identical to other Perfect EFTPOS gift cards I have purchased in recent times.

My guess is that I was too early, because I purchased them a couple of minutes after the store opened this morning, so there is a good chance the issue I experienced was fixed by the time others attempted a purchase. During the 10% off Ultimate Everyone gift card sale during the week of Black Friday, I went to a Woolworths about 10 minutes after it opened, and I had to scan an Everyday Rewards card for the 10% discount to appear, but that was fixed later during the deal.

        • +1

I can confirm it didn't work this morning before 9am Melb time

    • +1

Points just awarded instantly for a variable perfect gift card for me.

  • Anyone know if these can be stacked with the 10% off groceries from woolies mobile?

    • Doesn't work on gift cards unfortunately

      • +1

        Too good to be true.
I got asked at self checkout. Lucky I picked no

        • It's probably a good thing you selected no.

If you selected yes instead, previous experience suggests you probably would have redeemed your discount for the month and got absolutely nothing in return.

  • I went to three stores, they had none and at the fourth I bought 3x $500, points already in account.

  • So the catalogue says 5 cards per member per day but the banner in store says 10. Does anyone know which is the correct one?

    • +2

You will see the points at checkout, if you don't see the points then don't buy.

      • Not always the case. The two transactions I had today the points didn't show up on screen but did on the receipt.

    • +1

      It's definitely 10. I bought 10 in 1 transaction today.

  • +1

Woolworths is very bad with securing your points, as there is a way to determine which everyday rewards has points left and hackers can use your money to shop.

  • Can I use this gift card to pay ATO at Auspost? If yes, any charge?

    Thanks

    • +1

Last I checked the self serve machines didn't let you do ATO payments using these cards anymore

    • +1

I do not know about these but I have used the Vanilla and Coles Mastercard to pay ATO but online at MyGove and Easy Pay.
