The repayment advertised will repay the transaction balance within the interest free period. Minimum monthly payments are required – paying only the minimum monthly repayment may not necessarily repay a purchase within the interest free period. Not interest free anymore since you have to pay monthly fees…

      fees are not interest though?

When it's $7.95/month, for $40/month repayments, I would rather go with interest.

well I'm not sure why you'd even get BNPL for a $480 item over 12 months to begin with.
If you're making higher value purchases (purchase limit is up to $5000) then $8 a month is far better than interest.

            @ihuntbargains: For multiple reasons mate.

            Budgetting mainly.

Not everyone has $480 lying around for a want that isn't a need.

            • @sh4hp: If you can't afford $480 over the 4 payments that BNPL like Afterpay offer, with no monthly fees, then you probably shouldn't be buying the item, especially if it's a want, not a need.

Not making logical use of a BNPL service isn't the fault of the service provider, its a user fault.

              • @ihuntbargains: We are regressing, but not many places offer ALL BNPL.

And a want is never logical, money wise.

Just saying that it's a charge that I would have rather gone with interest with instead. And because it goes into your balance, it's not reflected in your monthly repayments. My fault for not reading the TnC carefully. It flagged me when I kept seeing the monthly charge keep going even after the 6 months I divided the purchase across.

I made a booking.com order (reserve only, unable to settle payment) via the Zip App for its 8% cashback.

Received the booking.com in partnership with Zip email

On arrival at the hotel, the Zip card wasn't accepted.

Despite getting commission on this sale, Zip refuses to award the cashback.

    Disappointing.

Will stick to better cashback providers.

A monthly account fee of $7.95 will also apply and a one-off establishment fee may apply for new customers.

    Naaah.

    monthly fee lol

bnpl is dead, look for another job op

The 'No-Interest Fee' title might look tempting but keep in mind that unlike something like after pay, Zip Pay has a $7.95 Monthly Fee that will be charged even if you make their so called minimum repayment. So basically you would be shelling out almost $100 for a year. Keep that in mind before you dive in. Made the same mistake and don't want anyone else to fall into this trap.

for zip pay, you need to pay the whole balance from the previous month off to avoid the monthly fee

The applicable standard variable rate is 23.9% per annum. What a BARGAIN…..NOT

As Andrew Leigh said to ANZ's Elliott on CC rates: Twenty per cent is taking you into the world of payday lenders and loan sharks, not the world in which an esteemed major bank should be operating. And that's without any annual/monthly fees being taken into account. Disgraceful imo

There's also an establishment fee as well.

  • +7

Interest packaged up as a monthly fee. A nice lie from Zip Money.

    • They're getting desperate…their share price is in tatters.

  • Feeeees? The System tells me that they go to affiliates and must stay!

  • +3

This doesn't appear to be a bargain, more like using Ozbargain for free advertising.

  • $0-$99 establishment fee

A one-off fee, up to $99, based on your approved credit limit may apply. See your contract for more details.
