for some reason, i kept reading it as "free Nintendo"

    • +4

It's been imprisoned far too long.

    • +2

Maybe it comes with steamed hams?

      • +3

At this time of year, in this country, localised entirely within a 5km radius of your local Nando's?

  • +33

They mark up their menu items for delivery, so it's not really free delivery.

      • +20

They are not wrong. There is a small mark up when you choose delivery vs pick up or dine in.

        Pick up / Dine in:

        Half Chicken Pack
        $22.45

        Whole PERi-PERi Chicken+2 Large Sides
        $32.50

        1/4 PERi-PERi Chicken
        $9.45

        Delivery:

        Half Chicken Pack
        $24.65

        Whole PERi-PERi Chicken+2 Large Sides
        $34.50

        1/4 PERi-PERi Chicken
        $10.00

        • +10

really adds up if ordering more items, lame

i'd rather they charged a flat deliveryfee then

        • +2

To be fair the mark up is still less than other delivery apps.
Eg. the Whole PERi-PERi Chicken+2 Large Sides is $38.50 on Ubereats

    • +17

Regardless if they upcharge, they are really damn expensive for what they are

      • +7

i would rather get chicken from my local charcoal chicken, than the one at Nandos.. Nandos chicken seems so much smaller

        • Tbf that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Best chicken I have ever eaten was in Borneo and the chicken was absolutely tiny. It was probably slayed a few hours before I had ordered my meal, but by god was it delicious. It’s goes to show what type of crap goes into our chooks.

        • +6

Maybe it's Portuguese Peri Peri Pigeon?

    • +2

Just did a quick test with a Supremo Burger. $10.95 pick up, $11.95 delivered so there is still a delivery surcharge even if there is no extra fee.

    • I think most places do this due to to the fees charged by DoorDash or whoever they outsource their delivery too

I dont like Nandos, Chickens most likely are burnt - eating burn food can lead to cancer

    https://www.cancer.org.au/cancer-information/causes-and-prev…

    • +2

surprising that your local Nando's is still in business if they keep burning their chicken…

      • +3

They must be referring to the ashen outside most Nando's chicken does have, be they grill marks or from the flames they cook over.

MauTauAja is correct that things like burnt food (Nando's chicken crust, black but on toast, red meat, alcohol etc.) are all carcinogens and thus can contribute to your chances of developing cancer if eaten. Most of us don't want to be raw-food vegetarian teetotalers eating limp, untoasted, multigrain bread though

    • What about barbecues and charred meats?
The World Cancer Research Fund found that consumption of grilled or barbecued meat and fish was associated with a limited suggestive increased risk of stomach cancer. Heating meats at high temperatures may result in the formation of mutagenic chemicals, thus consumption increases the risk of cancer. Cancer Council recommends as a precaution avoiding charring food while cooking.

I got 2 Oporto near me and not Nandos :(
I like nandos more than oporto but I guess it shows there’s more demand in my area if I have 2 Oportos within 5km from my house 😬

    • i prefer nandos baste and sauce

    • Oportos burgers are way better imo same with the chips, also significantly cheaper.

  • +1

Oh look at that, Nando's is still in existance, all the Nando's near me have shut down, I was close to a 3 stores

  • Had two stores near me that closed down too, the ones in Carnegie and Bentleigh (Vic)
To be fair though, they were both poorly managed and had horrendous operating standards.
Having said that, the ones in Elsternwick and Chadstone do still seem to be doing great and going strong.

My point is that with Nandos it’s more of a franchise issue than a company one.

    • +1

Apparently it's the franchisor screwing over the franchisees that's the biggest problem.

      • Okay but if that’s the case how come more than 50% of Nandos stores are still able to do great business..?

Btw if we were talking about businesses like Subway and United, I would 100% defer to your point as there’s only a small fraction of Subway and United stores that are still somewhat profitable.

  • -1

They used to serve skinless and then they stopped. It's an uphill battle asking for skinless therefore I stopped going to this place.

  • Cheers TA!

  • +3

Nandos is the most overpriced fast food after zambreros….

    • +1

I reckon Nando's tops the list

  • any min spend ?

  • +2

Massively overpriced compared to local stores. My local does 1/4 chicken, chips & gravy for $11, bigger serves & it's a family local business.

  • Stay safe

Thanks TA, but do people still say this? Lol

    • What does it even mean at this point.

  • I used my peri peri points once for a free whole chicken. They sent me a juvenile chicken. :(

    • I tried to use $9 rewards points and the employee said I cannot put it towards a higher cost item, it has to cover the whole price. I swear this franchise is just asking to implode

      • That has been part of their rewards system since day one many many years ago. You must be new.

        • ah. doomed from the start then. Hope your nandos store recovers matey!

  • :(
Only participating and looks like the one in Doncaster Westfield is not.
