Same with McDonald, special deal all up

      • +2

Only decent deal I still get across my accounts is $1 large fries. The good deals have really dried up lately.

        • +1

Yeah, all I get lately is hash brown deals.

        • -1

It's even better since new accounts have $1 choices of large fries, cheeseburger, soda, Sundae or 3 nuggets.

    • Not sure why this thread was created in the first place if the price has gone up??? Y_Y

    • +2

Price goes up every time a new sheet comes out.

  • +30

There's not a single good deal there. The 'Shake-and-Win' app regularly throws out $4 deals that are better than all this crap (and the odd free chips, slushy or soft-serve).

    • +2

Ive scored a few free breaky rolls.

      • +6

Yeah, about 6 months ago they were giving those away like crazy on the app as some sort of promo. That brought back fond memories of the 'endless free bacon deluxe' burgers that used to be possible to wangle from the app, back in the olden days …

        • +3

I still get the odd free brecky roll when all planets are in alignment. For me, trick is to roll the dice in the morning close to 8.30am~ish.

          • +3

@Davious: You just have to roll before 10:30 for the breakfast items. Disappointed they remoevd the coffee.

            • @Bdawg: True this.

I remember back in 2019/2020, a coffee was most certainly a given, if you rolled before 10:30AM. It used to make up for my morning cuppa whilst going to work. An easy $5 saving on the pocket back then. Now they've stopped the Free Medium Coffee, I get it very very rarely, like once in 6 months (wonder how is that even possible, such odds in their algorithm).

As for the Brekky roll, it is RRP $7.75 and is the best ever Shake N Win prize. The rule is the same – shake prior to 10:30 AM. You wont get a free one always, sometimes they throw in a $4 Brekky roll. But yeah, you may get a free one, once every 7 days or so, is what I've observed.

    • The app updated for me and had different prices and deals for a few days.. like $5 whoopers.. Now its gone back to the original deals with $4 whoopers.

      • Yea they've been back to $4 for a while now… surprisingly. Same with bacon deluxe I guess.

      • That was for the month of Feb when they ran a promotion doling out Gift Cards with shake n win prizes. Not a great deal.

  • "Really "Jacked the prices again good luck never going there again .

    • +5

      never going there again

      Taking your word for it!

    • +1

"The prices are better at Hungry Jack's" they go up every 3 months

  • +1

Up n Up every next issue

  • +16

If people keep buying prices will never go down. Clearly many businesses are taking advantage of fhe inflation alibi

    • I actually dont know anyone that goes to HJs anymore. Ive been once in the last year or so. Fast food is awful these days, tastes bad, you get tiny meals and is ridiculously overpriced.

  • +8

    Jacked prices

    No Bacon Deluxe

    No thanks.

Friggen whopper doesn't even come with cheese anymore, christ

    • +11

      it never did

      • +2

Yeah but you can get whopper with cheeses, and at the price, i'd want cheese.

  • +4

No bacon deluxe for ages : (
I've stopped going :'( losing some weight but really miss the bacon deluxe deal.

Can't even use the app as something's broken and I never get a reset password email

    • Bacon deluxe on the app in a small meal is $7.
      Used it last week

      • Can't get into the app.
The people in the store can't help and I already spent an hour trying to sort it out through support.

        • Create a new account?

          • +2

@B-Man02: Better yet sign up to the HJs app with 4 new emails adding your Birthday as the next month.

This month get $1 welcome whoppers for each of the 4 accounts.

Next month get 1 Whopper free per week.

Also Shake n win odds get better over 4 accounts.

            Following month, diabetes.

            • @Tiggrrrrr: Lol! I only have 1 email and my work email.. too much hassle

Does the app have deals on bacon deluxe? I could be tempted

              • +1

@Exprise: The shake n win consistently pops up $4 Bacon deluxe.

  • +3

    So, to all the price-lamenting artery-cloggers - what's the alternative? $12 cheesehamburgers at Grill'd? (I don't mind, but I'm curious).

    • +1

      Ham sandwich :)

      • Absolutely a great alternative, but that would be more expensive at a store/cafe, right?

        Talking fastfood restaurants and similar.

        • +1

bread and ham from supermarket, make it yourself

          • @Leho:

            Talking fastfood restaurants and similar.

Not sure how to stress more what we're talking here.

But yeah, possibilites are endless. I can even go to friedns' house and have food for free.

    • +1

$20 Parma and Pot at your local

    • +1

A decent smoko shop/takeaway cafe or fish and chip shop.
      Burger with the lot

      • +7

I remember when a burger with the lot was around $8 and outrageously expensive compared to a McDonalds/HJ burger for about $3.

Nowadays the burger with the lot is still about $8 and a fast food burger is the same or more.

    • +5

Some people just like to complain.. it would be helpful if the neggers could list where burgers are cheaper other than citing prices from 1998…

Hmm actually Carl jr does look good lol..

      • +3

        IKR!

I don't get the logic where $20 parma is cheaper (per kcal) than 2 whoppers for $12 (see somebody's comment above).

Everyone's outraged, nobody's got a substitute. To me, Domino's $5.99 value range is great, but that's not really a comparable substitute.

        • +1

Domino's Simply Cheese large for $5

          • @Fobsessive: Whole value range is $5.99 now. If you know of a coupon that still brings them down to $5, I'd be happy to hear it.

            • @MiscOzB: Simply Cheese is still $5 at Enmore Domino's. I just checked online. Same as what I paid 2 weeks ago.

The rest of the large Value Range is straight to $7, ouch.

          • @Fobsessive: Hiked to $5.99 now.

    • -1

$1 cheeseburgers and large fries at maacas?

    • +2

$3 Chicken Royal has stayed at the same price point ever since 2018. Not that it is comparable to McChikcen, but hey, thats RRP $7.75 at Maccas.

      • My bad, just went to my local HJ and noticed, Chicken Royale price is hiked to $3.50 as well!

    • Yes

      • Is iPad okay?

        • +3

literally anything that can display the vouchers, you could even use a DS with a working internet browser

source: I used my work laptop once when I didn't have my phone with me lol

          • @Zackeroo: Is paper okay?

            • @DogGunn: Yes, if I remember right there used to be paper versions of these vouchers at a point

              • @Zackeroo: You can still get them at the counter. Just ask for one.

        • You could even use a desktop PC if you were so inclined.

    • +2

Yes for now but soon phone will be jacked too

  • +8

Shame Carl's Jr isn't as common as Hungry Jack's. The whopper should be a $6 burger, tops. I never eat there anymore because much better options are available.

The burgers aren't better at hungry jacks

    • +1

I went to Carl Jr's only once (because of the distance), and the burger was everything the Whopper used to be.. It was generously filled, tasted awesome…

I don't even know what burger I got, but it was from a Ozbargain deal pamphlet.

    • +3

But this deal works out $5.98 each yet still no upvote

      • +1

Yeah, I don't think that's a special price for the product. Just my mental RRP.

They're just terrible burgers on paper for price and nutrition.

I'll have a burger with the lot from one of the half dozen (sometimes less) fish and chip shops in any area

    • +1

Did msjb put you up to this?

    • Personally I think most of Carls Jr burgers are way overpriced for what you get, and not higher quality.

  • +5

You may as well just eat at any other burger place with those prices.

    • +1

Same, gonna follow up tomorrow as the terms say all claims has to be done by start of april

    • +1

Same, I’ve emailed them twice, no response.

    • MeToo. They don't respond anymore.

    • me too. and a 20/30 dollar eftpos card too. one of the two.

  • +9

    The patty's get thinner
    The rolls get dryer
    The salads get staler
    The sauces get scarcer
    The drinks get flatter
    The prices go higher
The value just isn't there anymore

    • And they are missing the bacon deluxe burgers :'(
But the bacon kept getting thinner. It's now thinner than my prosciutto lol

  • Anyone still score free brekky roll from shake? my last one free is about november. never got one since.

that greasy burger no way should charge $6 !

    • Yes, it's still there if you roll pre 10:30am.

  • +1

    Yeah nah

  • +3

"Price has gone up" has replaced, 'burgers are better' , as this once go to fast food place races itself to extinction.
The service is crap or inconsistent, price rises on auto pilot, ordinary quality . I doubt they will survive on teenage customers on their way home from school , or people treating themselves once annually only find they end up p*ssed with the price, quality and service. They must be working to push people away to Maccas. Maybe the US Wendys is going to snap the dying HJs up?

And it's no thanks from me.

  • Anyone have a screenshot of what the vouchers were 10~ years ago? I remember some absolute bargains there.

    • When i used to work there in the mid-90s, the 2 whoppers deal was just $3, and with cheese, it was $3.5.

      • -1

When I bought a house in the Mid-90's it cost $165k.
Same house today is $1.1 Million.

So if you look at it that way, HJ's is behind on the price increases….

    • +1

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/104242

2 Whoppers deal has doubled in under 10 years, crazy. Burgers have shrunk a fair bit in that time too (shrinkflation).

      • Take 2 HJ catalogues into your next salary review for reference…
Minimum wage will exceed Elon Musks salary in 5 years..

  • +4

About 1998, voucher books in vic received by mail
I might be $1 short but this is how I remember it because I ate about 6 per week during high school where I'd ride a bike instead of catching a train to the next suburb

    2 whoppers $3.00
    2 whoppers W/cheese $3.50
    2 bacon deluxe $4.00

We used to get extra books from all the old ladys in the neighbourhood, who had no interest in junk food

  • +1

These coupons are a joke, especially in the context of what's available on the app (e.g. small Whopper Jr with cheese combo for $5).

I miss the days of two Whopper Jrs + 2 small fries for $4.50 or whatever it was

  • I like the look of the medium iced coffee for $3, that seems decent.

Now to try and get the HJ at my workplace (major shopping centre) to honour it from the image on my phone - I don't think I have any chance of that 😂

  • +1

RIP the cheap 2x bacon deluxe and whopper. My bowels thank you

  • That’s what we get for not allowing more competitors into the fast food market.

  • +2

I see Mr jack is hungry to jack up those prices again.

  • +1

$12 for 2 whoppers is actually a deal these days? That's complete insanity.

    • +4

Not a deal in my book. I don't care what anyone else says

    • You mean $8.95 per burger.

  • bad bad price

  • They have an app now, why still stuck in 1990s using paper coupons?
