Had to sell my left eye to afford this. But wow…the graphics that I can now see with my leftover eye!

    • +18

      You mean rightover eye ;)

      • +4

LOL. My left is your right tho!

  • +9

    April Fools?

  • It is one of the best 4090, will buy if $2,000

  • -3

Seems to be a good saving of $600. very very tempted

    • No doubt this is a very good card, I would have definitely upvoted the deal if these were reasonably priced to begin with. Worst part was they GIMPED the 4080 pretty bad to make this card look attractive. And unfortunately its working for them.

  • +5

    I want it + i don't need it + im poor = hodl

    • -1

      Use a better dictionary

      • -1

        They probably couldn’t afford it

  • FYI, the RRP of a 4090 is $2959. Just my 2c

    • +1

This isn't an entry level RRP model.

  • +3

Lower end models can be had in the $25-2700 range

  • This, or wait for 5090?

    • +1

Yes always wait for the next evolution….

    • I am waiting for a 5090 so that I can buy a used 4090. Even thats not gonna be cheap ;)

    • +15

4K ultra 120fps gamers disagree with this statement

    • +1

you can't even run 100 fps with cyberpunk 2077 at all ultra settings + ray tracing + DLSS off on a 4k 144hz monitor with any 4090.

      • -1

So why buy it if it can't run it?

        • -2

Why even breath if the best air purifier in the world rn can't filter out PM2.5 100%?

Why even drink if the best water purifier in the world rn can't produce pure water?

          • @Smilence03: So you're suggesting buying a $3k video card for one game??

            • @Mondorock: I can't figure out how you came to that conclusion…. the obvious answer is no

    • +1

Looks like the recently released, almost 10 years old The Last Of Us on PC is so poorly optimised it would benefit from 4090 at 4K.

  • Thanks OP, picked up 3

    • Can you give me one? Lol i wish

  • -4

Genuine question, but how do people justify spending this much on a graphics card?

For example, you could go to multiple music festivals with this kind of money.

    No judgement, just curious.

    • +8

      Priorities.

      • -2

        Like what, gaming?

        • +5

What's important to you. You can use these for things other than gaming too.

        • +14

For example, you could go to multiple music festivals with this kind of money.

Why would I go to multiple music festivals when I can buy a top of the line graphic card with this kind of money?

          No judgement.

        • +1

Not just gaming. I saw someone bought loads of these to unveil censored content of videos…

          • +1

@wt860: Where can one see such a thing? Need to do plenty of research to protect my family™

    • +8

I guess gaming/pc'ing etc is a hobby, just like someone may spend tens of thousands on scale trains or slot cars or stamps, or coins or whatever…

You could still go to a music festival and buy this.

    • +23

Have you seen the people who regularly attend music festivals? Id happily spend $3000 to avoid them

      • I can smell them already.

      • +3

hahaha I have to agree. Can't wait to spend $500 to go see Taylor Swift or Drake, no thanks…. I could never understand why people do that.

    • +2

For example, you could go to multiple music festivals with this kind of money.

You could argue those things are gone and done while this is a thing you can keep for a long time and actually be useful, sure you'll have pictures or memories of going to a music festival but at some point you really do just forget about it.

    • +6

I swear every iPhone, 80/90 graphics card thread has a comment like this

      • +3

Yeah, for some reason you never see these sort of comments in posts for TVs with a RRP of $7000.

      • +1

Yes, understood this is a deal, but still this is OZB, people are mostly here to save everybit. its common to get questions like this.

        • +3

There is saving by choosing a different brand/model but at the same time a lot of people are really particular about their PC builds. As I rarely buy a new PC, I usually spend a very long time deciding what pieces I want and I usually stick to my list even if prices are quite different. I just try to wait a bit longer instead.

          • +1

@ozbs25: No doubts about what you said. It is more peace of mind and satisfaction when you own the hardware you want. I for one would never buy a BPC or techfast deal.

    • +3

      Ewww , outside?

    • +5

Personally, I ain’t buying a 3 grand graphics card either, but music festivals feel like a waste of money to me as well. That’s not the case for everyone of course, but if you’re someone who plays video games for 30 hours a week, having a card that’ll run everything on max settings for half a decade seems like a fair purchase

      • +2

Some people also use these to render/edit stuff too. If you can afford these it could save you a heap of time.

    • Well I guess you could order a tonne of Pizza instead, or buy a TV… What kind of random suggestion for music festivals…. Could think of a million other things I'd do over go to a music festival….

    • +1

For those who do any machine learning stuff a 24gb card is looking mighty appealing right now, since it's so vram hungry, and the only current choices are a 3090 which is long out of stock, or a 4090. It's still too much for me to justify, especially with how much power it draws and how much heat it would generate, but it would speed up my work quite a lot and allow me to use better tools, and also be great for gaming unlike the machine learning focused cards.

  • +2

I bought one but now have no money left to complete the gaming rig.

Looks great on the mantle piece.

    /s

  • +4

    I just can't bring myself to upvote a $3k+ GPU……

  • +1

This and the rog are the best looking cards this gen

  • +6

Wasn't long ago that flagship cards were a whopping $1k aud. This is just beyond reason.

    • Which gen are you talking about? How far back do you want to go? I remember the 2080Ti was $2000+ before covid. 1080Ti was released 6 or so years ago for $1200.

In any case noone says you need to get one of these higher/top end cards.

    • 8 years ago the 980ti was $1k

      A 3050 beats a 980ti
      https://youtu.be/ieiMDuNr-YY

Almost everything cost less 8 years ago…

      • +4

Can't wait for people paying 10k for a 9090 and remembering when 4090's were 3k.

    • +2

Titans were in 2-5K range, depending on generation.

  • -2

I would upvote, if this was the cheapest 4090 card, irrespective of price - but it's not (see other comments)
If this is not the cheapest, it is not a bargain, just advertisement.

    • +6

It does seem to be the cheapest for this particular card. Some would prefer to get a better brand or particular card for something as expensive/important as this. I sure would.

      Edit: words

    • Not every 4090 is the same.

Dumb neg for the sake of it. Maybe contribute positively instead. Maybe post a better deal? Your first.

  • +6

This Aorus Master has been sitting at $2999 for over 3 weeks. Not sure why it suddenly becomes a deal, meh

    • -4

Well maybe you should have posted it…

      • +7

why would i post something that is NOT a deal?

        • -4

          Evidently. It is.

          • @scuderiarmani: Honestly. Seriously. It is NOT.

          • @scuderiarmani: The target consumer of this product is gamers. And majority of gamers wont spend that much of money for a graphic card.
It might be cheaper but just not worth it.

            • +2

@windwai: Another target consumer - is someone working with 3d graphics or machine learning. For them, the card is well worth the price.

              • +1

@DmytroP: Those people needed the card and the price is acceptable for them, but it does not mean 4090 worths the asking price.

Let's use NBN as an example, some of us have been jumping providers every 6 months for discount and other are settling at $70-$100 per month for 100/40MB plan. But when you compare the price with other country (e.g. New Zealand), do you think our price worth it?

A bottle of coke priced at $4, I can pay $7 dollars for it when I am thirsty. But it is not worth that much.

You are saying what this card could worth to a few people, but not what it should be priced at.

            • -2

@windwai: Thanks for sharing your opinion.

It's cheaper than RRP. It's a top end model.

Don't like it, don't care. If you are in the market for the card, it's a good price. No amount of internet tears is going to change the situation with GPU pricing.

    • I can talk about the low range. Prices have been steadily falling. Used to $2900, then $2800, now $2700.

What may stop the fall is our terrible Au dollar, but so far they keep getting cheaper

      • I agree. The price def has been falling, which is pleasant to see. I pulled the pin on a 4090 Gaming OC at $2500 so it doesn't really concern me anymore, but it is looking promising for the rest of the gamers community. When people didn't buy, the retailers had to lower their prices steadily :P

        • How are you finding that gaming OC?
People's main problem seems to be size, and fitting in a case, and fan noise, apparently it's louder then most, and also if you have it in Zero start mode where it only turns on when needed it can rev up to 100% being very annoying. There are fixes and work arounds but I think that fan problem remains. But what is your opinion?

          • @bobvegas: Hmmmm I'll have to let you know later as I'm still waiting for the rest of my parts to arrive, so I can finally assemble my PC to test it out. (Yeah I don't have a rig rn….) I didn't want to buy the rest of the parts first before the GPU, since GPU is the most expensive component out of all, and costs about as much as the rest of the parts.

I have got a Montech Sky Two case, so it will definitely fit there. In terms of noise, I don't think it will matter as much as what the people say.
Cost efficiency wise, Gaming OC has much better build quality than the AIC boards that use reference design and worse phases/memories. It also allow you to power it up to 600W, unless many variants that lock the power at 450W. For $2500, gaming oc would surely worth the money. If one day I decide that I can't stand the noise, I will just buy a water block and transform it into a custom cooled loop.

MSI gaming trio don't have vaper chamber so I wouldn't even consider it. I ignored all the AIC cards that used reference design, like Zotac/PNY/INNO3D etc. I would actually prefer a TUF gaming over Gaming OC, but I wasn't able to spot a good price for TUF. So with all factors considered, gaming OC was the best choice I could have at this point of time.

Price is ridiculous, can get a full gaming PC with RTX 4080 for the same price as just the 4090.

Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4080 AORUS MASTER, lowest $1799 centrecom
Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 AORUS MASTER, lowest $2999 umart

    4090 MSRP of $1599 USD
    4080 MSRP of $1199 USD

    400usd to aud 599 aud

Why local retail charge 4090 $1200 more (2999-1799) aud not 599aud
    Huge profit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 AORUS MASTER should be 2399 aud !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Import tax + vat usually brings it closer

    • +4

Get a clue and learn what the US pricing actually means.

      • +1

Also, the Aorus Master aren't cheap cards, they don't cost $2700 here, and they don't cost $US1600 + Tax in the US. They are a high quality card.

        • +1

          no, according to
          RTX 4090 VRM meta-analysis and FE/AIB comparison
          https://linustechtips.com/topic/1461611-rtx-4090-vrm-meta-an…
4090 Aorus Master high-res PCB pics
          https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/10cbawj/4090_aorus_…

the build quilty of 4090 Aorus Master is below FE, (Core VRM, Memory VRM, filters), So all card below the FE standard should sell below FE MSRP.

Why? 4080 AORUS MASTER can sell for $1799(~$1200usd), but 4090 Can't mach 2399(~$1599usd)???

maybe add $100 for the tax($600usd), $2499 should be reasonable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

          • @kenmizuki: It doesn't sell for $US1600 + tax, that's the domain mostly of 14phase VRM's 700-800W with 3 phase 150amp VRM's on the ram
            AORUS MASTER has 24phase VRM's totaling 1200watts, and 4 phase 200amp memory VRM's.

The importance of the phases is to reduce signal noise, it can result in higher clock speeds at lower power levels, and higher total clock speeds when overclocked. FE is a very well made card too, but don't get confused with believing cheap reference cards are anything like the FE.

            • @bobvegas: Is there a point in OCing a 4090? I thought undervolting it was better.

    • I was literally in the US two weeks ago and the best I could find was a PNY for $2,500 after getting sales tax back. It was not worth the lack of warranty.

With sales tax the yanks are paying similar prices.
