Samsung 7.5kg Front Load Washing Machine, $425.65 (after $75 Cashback) Delivered and Installed

610
SAVEFIVEINJULY

Our wash machine died this weekend, so we were after a cheap washing machine to see us out for 6 months. This was the best deal I could find on a machine larger than about 5kg.

7.5kg Front Load Samsung Washing Machine WF8750LSW1 from appliances online, free delivery and installed to most capital cities (with old machine taken away… though we're selling our old broken machine on ebay for a few extra dollars!).
Price on appliance online is $527, but discount code SAVEFIVEINJULY brings it down to $500.65. Then get $75 cashback from Samsung (in form of citibank cash card… so take it to any ATM and get your cash out).

Cashback claim from Samsung:
http://www.samsung.com.au/promotions/home-appliances/fridge-…

I found mostly positive reviews for this machine. That said, the negative reviews don't usually start coming in for a couple of years after the product is released because that's when things start to fail. The machine comes with 2 year manufacturers warranty.

EDIT: So it looks like we've alerted appliancesonline that they need to turn the page on the calendar… the coupon code is no longer valid.
Cashback from Samsung still applies, but I've marked this as expired.

  • O no just bought it a week ago!!! anyway will try the cashback. This is a good washing machine with a large hinge door and very quiet

  • +2

use your AMEX if you have one to get extra $50.00 http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/76605

    • +4

I think this is $10 back not $50?

    • thanks. Actually I paid on Amex late last night, so registered this morning. Let's see if I get $10 back!

      • I think you need to register before paying in order to get the $10 :)

  • can anyone comment on front loaders and top loaders? need a new washing machine but not sure if this is a good one…

    • +1

Front loaders seems to be nicer on clothes, as they cause less stretching of the clothing. Replaced a top loader with a a front loader a few years ago, and wouldn't go back. The only 2 downsides are (as the linked article says) - you can't add things once the wash has started (ours literally force-locks the door and won't unlock it until about 30 second after the wash has finished), and ours uses more power when it's off (30 watts - which is crazy - so we turn it off at the wall plug - and I imagine that current ones will have fixed this, because it's silly a design flaw).

      • The WF0754W7V1 uses only 0.3w on standby (measured with Steplight meter). 30w is massive.

        • +2

Regardless of either situation, turn it off at the GPO when not in use.

        • +1

0.3w consumption = 1kwh every 138 days. Less than a dollar per year. I just leave it on. 5kw of solar panels on the roof helps offset the monetary and environmental cost.

        • So by your calcs, 30W = <$100/yr. I'd be flicking a switch personaly for a 30W phantom load.

        • For 30w yes, I would flick it a few hundred times a year. For 0.3w, no.

        • I agree completely. For 30 watts we do flick because it's worth it, but for 0.3w it's just not worth the effort. The annoying bit is the only way to really know how much everything in the home uses is to manually measure everything. We found the worst standby-mode offenders were the front load washer (a circa 2008 LG, at ~30 Watts standby), and the Xbox series 1 (that was around ~22 Watts standby, from memory). We made sure to turn both off at the plug thereafter, but stopped worrying so much about things like phone chargers (that typically use fractions of a Watt).

      • +1

If there isn't too much water in the drum, we can actually pause our Bosch front loader and add extra items in.

      • Yes, they are not as rough on your clothes as they don't have the big agitator, and rely more on the tumbling action, however this takes much longer and a normal wash takes 110 minutes in my F&P 8kg.

      • +1

We can add things after it started.
Just need to wait a minute after I pressed pause.
The door won't become unlocked straight away.
It's all in the manual (the little booklet no body reads) :D

    • @paulevan - In our experience, we replaced our top loader with a Bosch front loader and we'll never back to a top loader.

    • Ask around a lot, you'll find that opinion is quite divided. I've tried a few & I wouldn't have a front loader til the tech is a lot better developed.

Some of the guys have already noted some of the caveats with FL, and some of the top loader issues can be easily nullified by using some simple forethought & common sense when it comes to washing practices! ;)

Much of the front loader 'advantage' is mostly hype IME, having to wash some soiled items twice for instance negates any perceived 'improvements' in efficiency IMHO.

That said, this is a good price for this unit if you're after a FL.

  • I have had one of these for around 6 months and been very happy with it. Thing I like the best is that it is very quiet compared to the Asko machine it replaced

  • I have a WF0754W7V1 from AO and so far am very happy with it. Quiet, efficient, and it was Choice's top ranked model in the last washing machine comparison. It even beat the Miele costing over twice the price (by only 1%, but still impressive).

    http://www.appliancesonline.com.au/75kg-front-load-samsung-w…

    • for anyone in brisbane that doesn't mind second hand
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/7-5kg-Front-Load-Samsung-Washing-…

From the receipt there it looks like the price in the meantime has risen to cancel out the cashback.

@Cluster any major annoyances with this machine? In the market for a FL washing machine. Water use isn't that big a deal, as I plan to try and recycle the water, but power usage is. I want to run it at night if I can on offpeak power, but the washing machine I have now is way too noisy for that.

Whats your experience with noise for this model?

      • +1

1400rpm spin is noisy, depending on the load. The sides of the machine vibrate and it does knock a fair bit, but the machine doesn't walk. Normal washing/rinsing is very quiet. If I close both the laundry and bedroom door it's hard to hear the machine, but then again I haven't run it at night when everything is dead quiet. I have lots of solar power available and no off peak power.

I measured 1 kwh of electricity usage on the 2:15 eco bubble wash, 30c. Around 1.3kwh with a 60c wash.

  • Was in the market for one - now done and dusted.
    Thanks braddsey! =).

  • +1

Omg mine died lastnight! Thanks so much I'm gunna buy this now :)

    • Mine died a few weeks ago, fixed it myself for $50. It was just the brushes had worn down.

  • +3

I'd rather get a top loader with an agitator in it, protects your fabric better. The electricity and water savings you get with a front loader are very marginal, probably only $20-30 a year. Not to mention no kneeling down to pick up the laundry.

Still a excellent price, front loaders are more expensive than equivalent top loaders.

    • We've found the agitator actually stretches and knots up the clothes. Friends of ours just bought a new Simpson top loader and they hate it.

      • It's funny, we've all had top-loaders for donkey's ages with no issue; but now suddenly front-loaders are being pushed on people with gusto the humble agitator is now public enemy number one??? Bizarre! ;)

        • Hahaha, it's true. We were going to buy a top loader initially but thought we'd give the front loader a go.

We did have reservations about the cycle time on front loaders but with the biggest load on ours, the cycle takes 1.5 hours. Initially we found an 'eco' mode which set the cycle time as 4 hours…we never use that one! :)

        • Our new 6.5kg Samsung top loader does not have an agitator and compared to our old 5.5kg Hoover
it seems like a bottomless pit when loading gear in. I wasn't expecting to be but i could not be more impressed with it. Got it on sale at The Good Guys for $424. : )

        • Yep we have the same mrfluffy - with the see through panel I'm surprised how entertaining it is to watch :)

Must say: the power of the water-jet agitation is impressive. Really cleans our clothes, these Samsung top-loaders use less water anyway and love the little tune when it's finished.

Loving Samsung this last few years: 3D smart TV, BR, HDD and now our washing machine.

      • Everyone has different experiences, but it's when you don't have an agitator that clothes end up in knots, this is because without one the machine relies on clothes rubbing against clothes to get things clean, where as an agitator is designed to separate clothes so they can be scrubbed by the agitator.. And it's exactly why you'll find that machines that have agitators will be advertised as being gentle on delicate fabrics versus ones without it being advertised as being efficient.

But of course if the machine is crap, nothings going to help you there.

I bought a Fisher & Paykle 8kg Top loader with agitator, for $750. It's so gentle that I just throw in my business shirts in even though the labels say hand wash only, it's been 6 months and no problems with my clothes.

      • I bought a Simpson Top Loader becoz of its capacity - 10KG. Love it big!!! I had an LG front loader before but the water saving feature seemed to be TOO WATER SAVING. I was always worried my clothes weren't rinsed properly. Now I can have a full load of water.

    • Front loader = kneel down. Top loader = bend over to get clothes at the bottom. Both are not ideal, but the front loader can be raised if you wish.

      • Not being facetious, but how would you go about raising it?

Many of the front loaders that I've seen have a tendency to walk, so I'd be worried about it falling off some sort of pedestal?

        • My Samsung washer comes with optional feet about 15cm high, but it's also possible to buy purpose built cupboards and pedestals (search online) for raising washing machines. It's not unusual to see raised front loaders in European homes.

        • Metal brackets, if you have a double brick home. The oscillating motion might cause damage to the bricks long term, but I have no doubt that there is a special fixing or vibration dampening solution to that.

        • We have a "Amazon" one, like this:http://bit.ly/TaqkmE and yes when you get the machine off the ground the vibrations are accentuated and the machine does tend to want to go for a walk. I have rubber mats under it and that helps a bit.

        • washer that my cousin has in the US has built in cupboard bases. takes up heaps of space but better on your back. I stack a dryer on top of the washer so can't really raise it.

      • At a cost of insanley $250….

  • Looks like a pretty good machine…thanks for posting OP.

We bought a Bosch back in April to replace our top loader and it's been great. We wouldn't go back to a top loader now. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/67807

  • +2

I bought this a few months back. Pretty good and quiet. I went from a top loader to a front loader. Won't look back as well.

NOTE!!!!!: This machine does NOT have a hot water input/inlet. It only has a cold water inlet/input and uses electricity to heat up the cold water. If you have a gas water heater then that may be cheaper overall.

    • how does it work with gas water heater…pls explain

      • It doesn't. There is only a cold water inlet. The unit heats its own water to the required temp.

    • They use cheaper parts on the water inlet, so that if you do hook it up to hot water you risk melting the plastic parts. Its a bit of a gamble, but I think if you found the right tempering valve, you could have the water come in at luke warm. Tempering valves mechanically mix hot and cold water to produce some preset value. Only ones I've seen produce 50c water, which may be too hot, but if you could find one that produced say 30c I think you would be okay.

      • Never thought of this…going to have a look around. Thanks!

    • EDIT If you have a gas water heater then that may be cheaper overall to buy a machine with the traditional hot and cold water input.

  • Bought one, thanks OP.

  • I bought this exact same washer from Good Guys about 3 months ago (not as cheap as this, but a good package deal).
The machine has been fantastic, is whisper quiet (we often forget that it's on unless we're standing infront of it), washes very well, and comes with a manufacturer warranty on the motor for 10 years. Obviously all the other comments re: standby power, energy/water rating, etc is all valid and was most of the reason why we went with this one.
Summary - great price for a great machine.

  • +1

Only have cold water inlet!!!! more electricity consumtion when want to wash in hot water bcz its using Ceramic heating element.

    • That would be my suspicion as well…on-demand electric water heating always equals costly IME!

  • I have had the 10kg Samsung for a couple of months. So far good, no problems. However, the things I miss over my old machine are:

A 30 minute cycle. The choices on Samsung are about 60 minutes or 15 minutes. The 15 minute cycle is too short, 60 minutes is too long!
A hot water inlet. It only has a cold water inlet, so it has to heat up the water. A hot water inlet is better if your hot water is cheaper (gas) that electricity.

    • Bought this exact machine a little over a month ago and it's doing quite well. Was $490 delivered from Aus-appliance but just checked and not available anymore. Could have been cheaper with cash back. Can confirm it has only cold water inlet. Bu it's has quick daily wash mode which is 30mins. Just a soft correction from the above comment.

It also has a Play/Pause button which supposedly allow you to pause the washing cycle to add more load within 5mins mins of starting the cycle. But haven't tried the option though the manual says its a feature of this washer.

      Good machine indeed.

      • Bu it's has quick daily wash mode which is 30mins

How do you get the 30 minutes to kick in? My daily wash setting is preset to about 54 minutes.

  • Thanks OP, great value :)

  • i wanted to get one but they are out of stock. when does the cash back end? when does this discount promo code end?

    • Cashback ends 3rd October, or when another 6571 claims are submitted. Take a look here:
      http://www.samsung.com.au/promotions/home-appliances/fridge-…

You can find this machine for a similar price, but stock is restricted. GG's have it for about $500 at the moment, but they charge $50 delivery. GG's Hoppers Crossing apparently have some in stock, so could collect or negotiate local delivery if you're near them… worth checking GG's online for your local store.

There's some online stores around Sydney doing it for about $500 also where I think you can get free delivery. Google it and see what comes up… the price comparison websites will show you.
Beware, there's a few "factory refurbished" sites offering it for about $450… but not cashback.

  • I have the same unit bought a few months ago, does a good job, daily wash done in 30mins.

It does only have one water hose to the cold water tap. doesn't bother me as I only wash with cold water.

  • Looking for a fridge, OP's link has $200 off for certain models, but mostly large 2 door ones. Still … reconsidering my options. Thanks OP!

guys i would totally recommend the higher end model, see below, with 1400rpm.
    http://www.appliancesonline.com.au/75kg-front-load-samsung-w…

Though i've been told this model is going/just to be obsolete, but actually the new update model only has minor cosmetic updates… no motor/hardware change, So its still the one of the best if you want the best value for 1400rpm types! :)

I bought this a month ago, at the time the best deal i could get for [MACHINE/DELIVERY/INSTALLATION/REMOVE OLD MACHINE] was $650ish, so might be slightly cheaper even now, PLUS this $75 cashback!

Check below if you want more info on getting washing machines! :)

can anyone tell me if its direct drive or belt driven? btw the goodguys had it for $509 but they are out of stock and said its older model and clearance the replace is wf1752wpc for about $635. not sure what the difference will be between the two models?

    • Not sure about the drive but I just got the WF1752WPC model from Harvey Norman for $550 (before cashback). The WF1752WPC is 1200 RPM while WF8750LSW1 is 1000 RPM. Will post copy of receipt if anyone is interested.

  • The V1 model is the direct drive version. That is why I skipped getting the OP one and paid the little bit more for the one aliguu is talking about.

EDIT: Came to $615.65 after discount and cashback.

  • is it ok to connect cold water intel to hot water connection?? so i dont need to use Ceramic heating element to save electricity…i m not sure about it..

    • It's NOT ok to connect the hot water into the cold water inlet. The machine has no way of cooling down the water.

      • no my meaning was when i want to wash clothes with hot water then connect pipe from cold water to hot water tap…is it ok?

        • How does the machine regulate the temperature of the water? What's your water heater temperature set to? Sure you can pipe in 70 degree water and let your machine wash the load but when it comes down to the rinse cycle… do you want your washing machine to be rinsing your clothes with hot water?

Leave it on the cold water tap.. it's better in the long run or just buy one that accepts both.

    • Think of what happens if you pour water out of the kettle into a drink bottle. That is what will happen to your new washing machine, and it will not be covered by warranty.

So Samsung are spinning shit with saying you get cash back?

      (Pun intended)

      • Only if you have skid marks on you undies.

    • hmmm. good point. I assumed it would be the same cashback as I received for another offer.

regardless… $75 on a mastercard is just as easily spent.

  • I have one at home.
By reading the manual, one thing it sounds odd to me is only two programs allow 7.5kg load
The others are 3kg or less.
    Is this common?

    • Yeah, our 7.5kg Bosch FL only has a couple of programs at 7.5kg.

  • Coupon Expired :(

  • +1

I picked up one of these a month ago and can also confirm they're a great unit. Disappointed I missed out on the cashback though :(

  • Coupon no longer works.

  • My wash machine died 2 weeks ago.. Just bought a $9XX new one last week :(

  • Spec states height is 844mm. Can anyone who has this machine measure the height if the leveling feet are removed? (In advance I understand the importance of clearances and leveling the machine)

    • my machine arrived 2 minutes ago. I can confirm with my trusty tape measure that this is the correct height!

  • I got the bigger 8.5kg version that is a bit fancier (but should have got something like this). First one had to be replaced immediately because the rinse (with water pumped in from the upper front) was too noisy. Seems ok. Pros - excellent quality wash particularly if you turn on all extras. 1400 leaves them very dry, don't need much time on the line to dry. Low water use. Cons - doesn't rinse out detergent very well, clothes a bit stiff from it still. Normal wash takes 2 hours. High power use.

  • Washing machine received, claim submitted. quick, painless!!

  • Received washing machine yesterday but there is no carton package?

    • Appliances online take the packaging away.

  • I ordered one of these washing machines on Monday from Appliances Online. Yesterday it was delivered and my broken one was taken away. I am most impressed with the service I have received from Appliances Online. I have registered for the cash back from Samsung. Let's see how long they take to get back to me ….

  • Found a stash of these at the Masters branch at North Lakes QLD. So if anyone on the north side of Brisbane is chasing one, there was 4 left at lunch time today. Marked price of $495.00. After cash back $420!!! Absolute steal!

I'm over the moon with this deal as my 9yo 7.5Kg front loader died about a month ago and I was torn between repairing it, or purchasing a new machine. This deal made it a no-brainer. Thanks OP.

  • Can anyone with the Samsung 7.5 answer a quick question for me? got one from Masters but had to take it from display. Did your one come with a thing to use liquid detergent in the main wash part of the tray?

It looks to have a slot you can slide a divider into but i didnt get a divider with it. Without a divider you can only use powder for the main wash. Pretty odd given the instructions say for some cycles to use liquid.

    Thanks,
    Neil.

    • Yes - mine did.
