does the Uber credit works in overseas such as Singapore/Malaysia?

    • Yeah any one know the t and c

    • As far as I'm aware, Uber doesn't have a presence in SG/MY. They've been taken over by Grab.

      • Yep this. Grab pretty much dominated many parts of Asia resulting in Uber exiting.

    • Aus only mate

    • No, afaik uber credit only works in the currency/country you purchased it in.

I’m hoping to see a repeat of this deal soon

Uber eat without 20% discount is nothing as most estaurants charges 30% more than what they charge if you buy from their restaurant directly…
So only benefit of these cards are use of uber ..!

    • Even 10% off isn't worth it for uber ride imo. When they frequently have 20%+

  • No restaurant gift cards ? Usually they have it with this deal?

    • It hasn't been included for a while now. Last few TCN promos (Coles/Woolworths) has not included the restaurant gift card.

      • I wonder why?

  • So the bar and pub card is accepted in every restaurant where they accept eftpos payment?

    • Might work at some, but I won't say all since some restaurants might be classed slightly differently by some EFTPOS merchants.

    • nope

but I've never got it rejected from a pub or bar

      The short answer is no.

There will be some eating places where they accept EFTPOS payments, but do not accept prepaid EFTPOS gift cards. For example:

      • There are eating places that do not accept magstripe payments. (The workaround is to exchange the physical gift card from this deal for the digital version via the TCN website, except that is dependent on you being happy to use a mobile wallet, plus you will end up with a prepaid Mastercard gift card and will therefore have to pay any surcharges applicable for Mastercard payments at eating places.)

      • There are eating places that do not accept prepaid gift cards as a payment method… as this OzBargainer found out the hard way (and was generally ridiculed by the community). Additionally, I used to be able to use prepaid EFTPOS gift cards at a particular eating place, but they eventually got their payment processor to automatically block prepaid EFTPOS gift cards; I found this out the hard way when I went to swipe a prepaid EFTPOS gift card the last time I was there and got a card not allowed error on the EFTPOS terminal.

The next issue is that I do not know what the list of permitted MCCs1 are on the Pub & Bar gift card, because the gift card terms and conditions are extremely vague, plus TCN never responded to my question around permitted MCCs!

My presumption is that 58132 has to be included, as that is the MCC specifically created for pubs and bars.

I am not sure whether other MCCs (e.g. 58123) would be covered, because (at least according to the Mastercard MCC QRG) merchants selling alcohol for on-premises consumption should be using 5813, and that would cover a large proportion of eating places I can think of.

Regardless of what MCCs are actually covered by this gift card, the other tricky issue is you will not really know the MCC used at the eating place you are at until you try to redeem a card there. One of the joys of TCN gift cards (at least the MCC-restricted gift cards) is that you can see on the TCN app the MCC used by the merchant for approved and declined transactions.

      1. Merchant Category Codes (MCCs). If you need a quick explanation about MCCs, have a look at this comment.

      2. Bars, Cocktail Lounges, Discotheques, Nightclubs, and Taverns - Drinking Places (Alcoholic Beverages)

      3. Eating Places, Restaurants

      • @WookieMonster - what about "The Cinema Card" - is this accepted at both Hoyts & Events Cinemas?

        • Honestly, no idea, because I do not go to those cinemas.

  • So the pub and bar gift card won’t work at mcas or kfc?

    • Doubt it

    • Def not
