Go go go!

Differences vs 3 and 3S

  • Visually they are exactly the same
  • Doubled DPI from 4000 to 8000
  • 90% less click noise on left/right buttons (new switches are apparently really good)
  • Slightly lighter in weight
  • Now uses the Logi Bolt USB receiver

Differences vs the MAC version

  • None really… both versions work on Windows/OSX
  • Mac one doesn't come with a USB receiver
  • Different branding on the box

    I'm a 2S user for ~$70-80 a few years ago…

Are we go go go-ing @ $120 for the latest iteration?

    • On my desk I have a 3 and a 2S.If they weren't different colors, you would have to go looking to figure out which is which (slightly different thumb buttons which I never use)

The only real improvement is USB-C

      • The 3S has reduced click and wheel(?) noise.
Another difference between 2S and 3 was the ability to move across devices.

      • Any weight difference between the 3 and 2, 2S? Have a 2 and 2S at home and the mrs sometimes complains about them being heavy after prolonged use. I did say to her I know some great wrist strengthening exercises *wink *wink. Got a slap for my troubles!

        • The 3 feels heavier, slightly. So I googled it and turns out the 3 is actually 4g lighter and I will never have a side hustle as a scale.

          • @jjcf: I had the opposite, the 3S felt lighter than the 3 so I weighed them both and the 3 is indeed 1g heavier by my kitchen scale.
That being said, despite basically being a human scale I have not left my data analyst job in favour of weighing things all day by hand, but it's comforting to know there's a backup if this doesn't work out.

    • My 2s, also purchase around the same price, is going strong. Cannot justify purchase at this price range.
Also to consider is the issues with Bluetooth connection on Apple laptops (unless that is now resolved?)

      • The white 3s version is “for Mac”

    • I got my 2S a few years ago too and wondering if it's time for the upgrade. Mine is still going strong and I've used it nearly every single day. Tempted for USB C and the quieter clicking noises. Partner and other colleagues have mentioned the 2S is quite loud.

      • It is pretty silent compared to my old M720

      • I have the 3S and it's almost dead silent. In a room with an AC running on low it's completely drowned out by the hum of the AC. In a completely silent room you are able to hear it click, but barely and it's very easy to 'tune it out'

My 2010 MX Performance still running strong til today. Trying to justify a change 😅

        • Same here.

Any idea whether the current Logitech Options+ MX software which allows cutting and pasting between multiple PCs, works with the original MX Performance?

I may never need to upgrade it…

  • why there is no white & non-mac version in Aus. too many bluetooth device on my desk already.

    • AFAIK the only difference of the Mac version is it doesn't come with a dongle. If you're using Bluetooth anyway they are identical.

      • the Bluetooth Interference is annoying.

        • I believe you can buy a Bolt receiver separately.

  • "Now uses the Logi Bolt USB receiver" Great another dongle to lose! At least with the 2S you could pair/use any unifying dongle.

    • +1

Bolt is unifying too, but yeah, you can't use your old dongles.

  • I use the M720 as well as the MX Master 3. I prefer the M720 for working from home, because it has dongle storage and there is a thumb button to switch between PCs. To switch PCs on the MX, the button is on the underside, and there's nowhere to stash the dongle.

The MX Master 3 is a slick-looking mouse and I like the weight of it, but the M720 is more of a workhorse.

    • I have both, and I prefer MX Master as it is longer. My hands are not too big, but M720 feels a bit too short.

      • Yep, this is also my experience. Both great mice but the MX is more comfy to use, and I love both the horizontal and vertical scrolls.

Also I’d just rather use Bluetooth all the time as I don’t see much of a difference in daily use.

Is this significantly better than the MX Anywhere 3? My wife has relocated my MX Anywhere 2s to a location unknown and I am looking for a replacement.

    • Two different products, way better than MX Anywhere 3, hence it is expensive.

i want one of these but my original MX performance which was released in 2009 is still kicking along strong.
at this point i'm just seeing how far i can take it

    • Of course it isn't! Come on man.

7 negative reviews in the past 12 months, all in relation to mouse and keyboards and 3 of those specifically of the 3s so I'd say stay away from that seller

  • 3S best mouse I've ever owned…. wouldn't buy anything else now.

Delivery on OP's deal is $6 (metro ACT)… takes the shine off it a little, but still very good pricing.

  • Price beat at Office Works Malaga (Perth), the only thing is that the dude added the shipping before price beating. Other than that all good.
