I was going to get the OG Xbox Series S/X wireless with the adaptor for my PC, but I thought it would be pointless since I'm not sitting that far away. I had a Series X and liked the controller, this looks pretty similar, and prefer it over the shape of the 8Bitdo Pro.

Also available in black.

Black shows less magic Doritos dust

That's why I posted the white one for you degenerates.

  • So this retails for more than a standard controller? I thought third party controllers were usually worse.

Where can you find an Xbox controller retailing for $48? Majority of OzB posts have been within the $60-$70 range.

And 8BitDo makes great controllers, own one of them and very happy with it. This controller is wired, though there are wireless variants out there for a bit more.

The normal price for this is 99 according to amazon.

        • +2

Can find it for $50-$60 off AliExpress for this same wired version, though it'll probably be 2-4 weeks shipping time as opposed to Amazon's much faster times.

8bitdo tend to be quality 3rd party controllers. Some on a par or even preferred by some over official 1st party ones (check reviews of the Pro3 by people like Spawn Wave & Wulff Den)

Great controller for fps games and playing RetroArch.

Although it is Abit uncomfortable in the hand and I find it very difficult to use when playing RL

      • You must have small baby hands.

        • Nope, I have average size adult hands

    • I still have an 8Bitdo Pro which I have been using for retro games. If this thing is uncomfortable, I'll just return it.

  • Is this 27 bucks better than the wired PDP controller I picked up half price from Big W? I haven't had any complaints so far

    • I think you answered your own question

No need for the wireless adapter as the official controllers work on Bluetooth or over a USB cable anyway. I sit close to my PC and use Xbox One S controller over micro USB.

    • Didn't know that. Should have kept a controller when I sold my Series X

      • +1

honestly, the genuine series X controllers are absolutely unsuable on PC if connected via bluetooth. they randomly disconnect unless you shell out for the dongle

        • Good to know. I think these 8Bitdo ones will be good. I still have an 8bitdo Pro on standby, not the 2, so I'm curious about the third buttons on the back

        • I found noticeable lag on bluetooth too, I returned one recently and rebought the wireless adapter one

          • @jdawgydawggy: What bluetooth adapter are you guys using. I am using the genuine series X controllers with the built in bluetooth on my MB and it's flawless (Intel AX200 with bluetooth 5.1)

            • +1

@greatlamp: I tried the built in Bluetooth on my laptop, not sure what that is, and also a supposed Bluetooth 5.2 usb adapter, again, unsure of brand. I think it was an extra $20 for the wireless adapter bundle, I was happy to pay for the convenience haha

Nice for xbox game pass/cloud too

  • Will these work with Xbox 360?

    • Dunno, prob not

  • Why would anyone use cable over wireless instead?

    • +8

I need lowest lag possible when playing waifu simulator games.

Why do hardcore gamers use wired keyboards and mice over wireless? Why are all the high end mech keyboards wired? Why do people still use ethernet cables over wifi? Why do I need to plug in my phone for fast charging? And why does my slower wireless charger need to be plugged in anyway?

      Ugh, wires are so annoying.

If you’re using it for PC gaming where you’re sitting near the computer anyway, it’s a no-brainer to go wired IMO - less latency, no chance of Bluetooth DC’s, don’t have to be concerned with battery life.

To damage control that button-smashing friend of yours. They will only pull your pc/console, not breaking your coffee table or anything major. This is also how we keep our purring furballs safe.

    • Ask NBN

    • The real reason you dont see many xbox 3rd party wireless controllers, is the licensing cost of the wireless chips from microsoft is insane. they really dont want competition in this space. I have this controller and the only down is the cord. I will grab the ms controller over this 80%of the time. but it has helped me in a few multiplayer fps.

  • Does this one work with Switch, and other devices per their normal controllers (with the selection switches) or does the Xbox licensing make it Microsoft only?

  • Does this have hall effect sticks?

    • +1

only the 8bitdo ultimate bluetooth model does, and the gulikit kk pro 2

      • Thanks

    WTF?

    • probably incorrectly entered in Amazon's systems as having a rechargeable battery - I had the same thing with an Nvidia Shield since some of the models had game controllers (with rechargeable batteries)

  • Do the triggers vibrate?
