Motorola G62 5G (4GB/128GB, SD480, 120hz, Midnight Grey) $249 (RRP $399) + Delivery ($0 C&C/in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

I am not claiming learner status, I should know better, force me to my happy place.
Not the G82 deal for $2 but still reasonable value in the flacid sea of RRP and above 'deals'.
My pos Oppo A52 hmmmm, 'accidently broke' so I am in the market for a bang for buck replacement.

Released Jun 2022, so should get 1.5 to 2.5 years of updates depending Moto's mood.

Motorola G62 4gb / 128GB GREY SD480 5G 120Hz
Android 12 (planned 13)
4GB is fine if you don't game, don't have lots of tabs open and don't need to have 100s of aps open at once, which is me.
SD480 (327000) has about 66% more performance than an SD665 (197000) which my Oppo had, ANTUTU9
Only has IPS screen, but it's 120Hz if that makes you fizzy.
Dual Hybrid Sim
3.5mm Jack

Seems to be plenty of stock and only $249 (normally $399) for a useable phone you won't cry when you throw in the trash (I mean recycle responsibly) when the updates stop.

Happy Shopping :-)

  • Good deal and I wonder if its due to the MOTO G53 5G release this month RRP $329.

Doesn’t look to be that much better of a phone? Especially for +$100

  • DOES IT COME WITH LOADED bloatware too ?? like Xiaomi phones ??

I am sick of xiaomi blocking the access to system full screen guestures rather than navigation buttons when using third party party launchers like nova etc. ??

Also sick of how much Mi tracks me, all in proof of Blockada which blocks quite a lot of the CCP tracking

The os on the motorola is very close to stock android.

Thx op , really good excused to get back together with Motorola again after long separation.

  • What's the prospects of something like this getting official Lineage support? The price is decent if you need a phone but I really don't at the moment so I need another excuse. At this price I can wait although this is far better than the el cheapo I bought last year.

    • I don't think there is a high chance. Personally, it's close enough to stock that I didn't feel like I need Lineage.

Source: long time Lineage user, since it was CyanogenMod on the OG supported phone OnePlus One

      • Is it possible to root this phone? I cant find much on xda

      • +1

I'd only want it to install once official support ran out.

  • would this be better than motorola edge 20 fusion

    • +1

      Edge 20 fusion is better.

Screen is better and cpu is faster.

Use code "EASTER5" to get 5% off

    • AHHHHHHH, you're right, that's another $12.45 off…… I missed out on the 5%, where were you with this info 4 hours ago? :-)

Thanks OP. The g82 price error destroyed my mental benchmark of prices for budget phones, but I slowly accepted that's a once in a product generation type boo boo and unlikely to repeated anytime soon. My old phone is seizing up so bit the bullet and ordered a g62.

With the Easter 5% discount, and the Macquarie bank 3% off discount voucher, $249 becomes $229.45!

  • This is a fairly capable phone if you wanted local stock. Can confirm it has NFC and FM radio.
Occasionally there is stuttering in menus which is a bit of a bummer.
Still available at this price from Officeworks.
