Is the 5K label a thing for ultra-wide 1440p? It is fewer pixels than "4K"

    • I don't know, it's less pixels then 4K so I don't know how it can be called 5K.
      7372800 (Dual QHD) vs 8294400 (4K)

      • +4

Not much difference to the dumb logic of calling 2560*1440 2k.

        Just lazy speak/marketing.

        • +1

Yeah I don't get that either. 2560x1440 is QHD, four times HD which is 1280x720. The same as 4K is 4 times 1080P which is 1920x1080.

This is what happens when you let the marketing team just go for it.

          • @Hank Scorpion: It's like USB and that whole mess, atleast Wifi they tried, than moments later added 6E ffs

Too many people with too much time on their hands….

Don't get me started on audio as well….

            • +1

              @scuderiarmani: C'mon, what's not to like?

              Doesn't everybody want 6e wi-fi?

(read that aloud if you just heard a big whooshing sound)

      • Don't complain about 5K if you accept the term 4K, it refers to horizontal pixel count which is stupid cos everything the came before (1440p, 1080p, 720p..) referred to vertical count, so yea this monitor is by all definition 5K due to its 5120 horizontal pixel count, hell it's more accurate than 4K cos 4K is 3840 rounded up

        • Wait until you buy a "14TB" disk and check the actual disk space!

Phones, tablets and monitors used (well still do) to count the bezel as part of the total screen size!

          Marketing lies.

    5K is 5120x2880.

  • Well how about that! Samsung now incorporates look and cost as part of the model number! SSEXXY and EXXY

Sorry everyone. I just wrote what Amazon has as description. I removed the 5K from the description.

No need to apologise, if anything the standards bodies owe you an apology.

  • what genre of games is this kind of monitor targeted at? seems a strange size/ratio

    • Plenty of games benefit from Ultrawide resolutions… this is just wider and when supported, better.

I absolutely loved this monitor, and still regret switching to a 42" OLED, I will likely go back when OLED Ultra-wides aren't so overpriced.

    • Great for Racing Sims, Flight Sims, ARPGs (that support it), MMORPGs (for wandering the lands), etc

Prefer playing on my Neo G9 as opposed to 42in OLED C2!

Will compare to the bigger curved OLEDs when they are released later this year …

Would get this if it was true 4k or better with 240hz 1ms ips

  • This is better than the 42" OLED TV? ??????

    • "Better" is a qualitative assessment!

      • I prefer gaming on my Neo G9 (similar to above) just more immersive
      • I prefer video/photo editing on my 42in C2 OLED
      • I prefer productivity apps (excel, word, browsing, notepad, RDP, etc) on my Neo G9 (just prefer those windows side-by-side)
      • I prefer HDR / movies / media on my 42in C2 OLED
      • etc
    • Depends if you like the widescreen format or not

  • This would be perfect for a 1:1 ratio for my double centrefold in a single view. SEXXXXY

    • LOLLL

  • 100hz refresh rate

Worth getting over other ultra wides that usually offer 144/165hz refresh (obviously they cost more)?

This is not lowest. But I go this and never go back to normal screen.
