ICOM IC-41pro list price is $335.00 and can be had much cheaper with a quick google.

Made in Japan and with a 5 year warranty and can be programmed with commercial 450-520Mhz frequencies.
Much better value for money and build quality IMO.

The GME is basically a copy of the ICOM.

    • Is there a main place to check the best of these for outdoor use etc?

I mean, 5w is 5w. Its the power that makes the difference.

Performance wise these two radios will be identical.

Not like a vehicle CB where you can swap the antennas to suit the terrain., I mean you could but that's just getting silly.

High gain antennas suit flat terrain.
Low gain antennas suit hilly terrain.

    • Does the ICOM IC-41pro has IP water resistance?

      • Same rating as the GME.
        Waterproof and dustproof (IP67)

        • Cool. Definitely choose ICOM over GME brand.

  • Can be had for $379 so not a massive saving

I'd be getting the Icom for $250 regardless

  • I bought one of these for a road trip, https://www.auscb.net/apps/webstore/products/show/5626389
Build quality is great, as was the customer service. Not sure how specs compare but suits my needs, I added a magnetic external antennae to sit on the roof as well.
