  • Seem like a decent deal

This is a fair price, what it should have been at launch.

    • +12

Nah, should have been the same as the 3080 launch price.

      • +10

Plus a little inflation. So 1200 to 1250 instead of 1100. This is not a deal.

      • -2

Inflation plus some price gouging, everything won't go back to 2019 so soon. 2.5k is insane, 1.6 K is somewhat tolerable.

        • +2

Inflation, plus poor dollar conversion, and then some price gouging.

      • +7

What are you smoking? The launch price of the 3080 was $1200rrp but it was practically unattainable!

Only 1 store in aus had evga 3080s as rrp and the initial stock sold out within seconds! I know because i preordered like everyone else here and waited like a year only to be told stock would probably never come! Very few people got $1200 evga 3080s

The real launch price of the 3080s in aus was 1500-1600! After a sort time they jumped to 2000++

        • -4

You should be asking yourself that. What does stock availability have to do with launch pricing? It's the exact opposite now and the price has gone up higher. You don't happen to have shares in Nvidia by any chance?

Nice deal. Is this worth upgrading from a 3080 if I sell it?

    • +1

Best way to decide imo is to watch side by side youtube videos which show stats on screen, and read up on any other details such as its future potential (e.g. it might currently be limited from hitting its full potential due to games not being yet made for its technology, or CPUs not yet being strong enough to keep up).

I suspect a single generation step up on the same line probably isn't worth an upgrade, especially in the luxury priced cards territory.

    • +3

      Shouldn’t need to upgrade from a 3080

    • +1

I have a 3080 as well playing at 4k but these aren't worth the upgrade, 4090 is but that's way too overpriced, better to wait for next gen unless a game your playing right now need more fps.

    • +2

If you can't answer this question for yourself I have serious doubts that you even needed the 3080 to begin with, let alone a 4080

  • Upgraded from 3080 master aorus to this. Heaps cooler and double the fps in 4K and dlss 3.0
    , I think worth it

    • Anyone review to show a 4080 is double the fps in 4K compared to 3080?

      • +7

it's dlss 3.0 frame generation, fake frames it inserts between real frames.

        • Yes I said I’m using dlss 3.0. Fake or real it looks ok, not 4K native though. 4K native cyberpunk is 25fps

      • +1

Maybe using dlss 3 it is

    • Recently upgraded from a Gigabyte 3080Ti Master to a Gigabyte 4080 Master, on a 3840 x 1600 display I saw jumps in games from around 80-100fps to 120-130fps, thats with a 10700k, 32gb ram. So not sure about the double… Then again I dont play a large mount of taxing games, but what I can definitely say is I'm seeing more stable frame rates, social zone see less drops etc

    Keep sliding

This one also available from Computer Alliance: link

Seems like the same model, in case OP's deal runs out of stock

    • +1

Thanks, I ordered from computer alliance for $1679

      • Glad to hear, so did I

  • +1

    Tell him he's dreamin'

  • +10

I wouldn't buy from Harris Technology, they intentionally increase prices just to absorb the reduction any coupons could give buyers.
Avoid them if possible, their service is worse then terrible. Go somewhere else if possible, even if just $5 better off.

    • +3

      I completely agree.

HT have been around for decades, and service has been crap the whole time… I don't get how they are still in business. I remember when they were the go-to shop in North Sydney…. looooong time ago now. Crap then, and crap now. Them and MegaBuy, two crap peas in the same pod.

      • +1

Retail they probably dont care about, make all their dollars as a distributor

  • Will this fit into the nzxt h1 v2 I picked up from the other deal?

    • +1

Max gpu clearance stated by nzxt's h1v2 is 324mm length and 58mm thickness. This card is well over the limit of having 342mm length and 75mm thickness

  • Just a heads up, ebay only allows maximum purchase of $1500 using gift card, so you wont be able to cover this all with gift card.
