Marmot Womens Trestles Elite Eco 30 Sleeping Bag Wheatgrass/Crocodile L $92 + Delivery (Free on Orders over $99) @ Pushys

150

Seems like a good price for a quality sleeping bag. Considering one myself even though I'm not a woman, but I don't see why it wouldn't work just as well for a guy. I believe there are 16 available as of posting. Free delivery on orders of $99 or more so it's probably cheaper to spend $7 on something to get free delivery than pay for the delivery fee.

  • OK, I'm gonna stay tuned for all the comments re gender specificity …

Its about the dimensions. 5"6 height and 147 shoulder circumference is physically too small for most adult males.

  • That pic makes it look a lot like a casket … which surely is not a good marketing angle?!?

"mummy" shaped sleeping bags are generally warmer/lighter. But not everyone likes them

I thought it looked like a cocoon of some sort and had to actually read the description lol

Common design, it's all about minimising the size and weight so they have no wasted size.
You don't want this style for car camping etc where size and weight don't matter, but is an advantage for hiking.

    • you said exactly what i was going to say…

    • It looks horrible…I like to bring a knee up when I sleep and this looks like it would restrict that

      • They do restrict leg movement a lot. But it's a trade off for hiking.
The size matters more for the really cold climate bags which have a lot more filling so the size, weight and premium down savings really matter.

Even Australian alpine and Tasmania don't compare to what properly cold northern America deals with.

For most of Australia you just end up using an unzipped bag as a blanket anyway, because it's too warm.
So a plain rectangle bag is usually a better general purpose choice for car tenting and sleepover use.

You need to take your doona to campings then. Or bring both knees up.

People comment like they've never seen a sleeping bag before!

    5 foot 6 inches ?

    • Good point. Maybe the gender specification is solely based on length.

      • Don't neglect the girths:

        • Shoulder Girth: 147cm
        • Hip Girth: 172cm

Not that I can see how that works from the picture.

      • Length, girth, and for the more carefully designed bags, distribution/placement of insulation.

Bit of an odd bag, this one. It's very short, it's not very warm (the temperature ratings are to be taken with a massive grain of salt, that -1C is something like "user will not actually die if using this for X hours to sleep in" and not a comfort rating), and it's heavy AF and packs huge for a mummy bag.

I've got something like this, but it's for my kid in primary school. Similar length, same 30F temperature rating, also hugely bulky. He uses it indoors.

This is a casual use warm weather car camping bag, in which case you might as well get a cheap rectangular bag that's more comfortable to sleep in.

    • but what is a woman?

      Have you asked ChatGPT?

    • so gender is a social construct something something…

It's whatever the most aggressive man in a dress says it is

    • When he feels like it. At least that's the way in Canada.

  • What temps were you planning to use it in?

Good review here, despite it looking different in the pics https://www.outdoorgearlab.com/reviews/camping-and-hiking/sl…
