ABN? office address? anything to make me want to trust the store?

EDIT: ah… past bargains history is good

    • no wifi…diff/old product

That's like comparing an Apple to an Orange. Fail.

    • I have one of those and like it a lot. But if you have an iMac or recent Mac laptop running Mountain Lion, the AirPlay mirroring to the ATV is a killer feature. So I don't think they are quite comparable.

Hahaha this guy has no idea…

  • Any ATV2s?

    • Unlikely

      I want one as well

    • Nope sorry, just the new ones.

    • +1

Totally agree, until there's a JB there's not much love for the ATV3.

      • you don't need to JB to watch .avi files if you have the AirVideo app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, because you can then airplay it to the ATV3.

        • +4

Why would you need two devices to perform single device job????

        • I had a jailbroken ATV2 running Plex and things were fantastic until someone ran an update and there was no JB out yet (and I hated life). Now instead of wasting time messing around with jailbreaks I just spent $5 on the plex app for iPhone/iPad and airplay to the Apple Tv. Works flawlessly and I can update the ATV software right away without having to wait.

(I also have a recent macbook air and airplay mirroring is pretty amazing)

        • So are you saying that to be able to play movies off your Macbook you need Apple Tv and this plex app? Or is the plex app only if you want to stream movies off your iphone/ipad? Or is it to use the ipad/iphone to select/browse files on your macbook and play them on your television?

        • Plex is for streaming movies etc form a PC, right?

So for non-supported codecs, you have

PC Transcoding the .mkv stream to an apple supported codec, then sending it via wifi to your ipad/iphone, which then sends over wifi again to your apple TV, which then decodes it?

This is using 3 devices (4 if you count the router) to do the same task.

  • So, this is ATV3? How come it has picture only without product description?

    • There is a description on the site.

  • How long does it take to ship to Melb?

    • +1

We ship registered post so roughly 3 days from Sydney to Melb.

      • I've placed an order for one. Hope to receive it soon.

        • Your order will be shipped out tomorrow afternoon. So if the Aus post gods are feeling benevolent you may even get it by Friday Afternoon.

  • Not to sound cheap but hey this is ozbargain - can you match this deal?

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/75368

It is expired but if HN can do it … I'm hoping.

We are trying to offer a deal for the people who just want the Apple TV cheap. And there is no such thing as sounding cheap on Ozbargain!

      • lol :)

But for people wanting the apple tv and 2x$20 itunes can you do better than $95 + $35 ?

        • +1

          Unfortunately not.

Roku TV has much more content. I wouldn't touch Apple TV. Waste of money.

  • what do you think guys which one is good?

main purpose of use : watch movies, stream videos/songs/photos from PC or mobile, free TV channels, less further investment such as renting movies
    important one cheaper price

    1) Apple TV
    2) WD TV
    3) Roku TV

    • The Roku 2 XS.. Hands down!

      http://www.roku.com/roku-products#3

      • Can Roku stream from local PC/Lan? at the moment XBMC does not work on it.

        • PLEX > XBMC

    • Roku + Plex = WIN!
      www.plexapp.com/connected/

    • I cant vouch for the other two but I have a JB ATV2 running XBMC and am very content with it. I use it to stream files from a NAS and also run plugins for iView, BBC iPlayer, Hulu etc.

      • Shame it's only 720p. Not great if you have a 40" or larger TV.

  • Did anyone else notice that the f and s in op's display pic seem to be getting frisky?

    • +1

Wow, this guy has attention to detail!

    • +2

When two letters love each other very much…

  • 2x20's for $30 at BigW next Thur instore and online with free delivery.

    • But that is an entire week away ;)

      • BP are doing 20% off iTunes cards for the next 4 weeks!!!!!!

  • Can you match this deal? http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/66646

    • We could if we had the old model, but we don't have any unfortunately.

    • You pay $8 more for a newer model, not exactly sure why you wouldn't want to spend the $8?

      • +1

Some people are looking for a model that can be jb. The reality is that eventually this will be jb as well, though who knows when.
