The Art of Auto Engineering: a 20-Hour Video Course A$33 @ How A Car Works

140

Most people on this website probably own 2000 Camry's or Tesla's that never need fixing, but everyone else should hear me out.

Over the course of 20 hours, Alex Muir dismantles and then rebuilds a 2001 Mazda MX-5 Miata. Every part and every system is explained in incredible detail, alongside beautiful CGI that makes it easy to understand. Professionally filmed in 4K, with full subtitles - this course covers the practical side of a major in automotive engineering.

What you are taught will teach you everything potentially saving you thousands.

The $33 price is an early bird special, whilst filming is still being completed. It will end in June.

  • No thanks

  • What will this tell me that the FSM won’t? The FSM will still be needed to get correct torque and clearance specs so why waste 20 hours?

Pretty sure you can get everything that this covers free on youtube and google.

  • I'll split it with someone 50/50.

thanks OP. great details. many videos. $33 good entertainment

  • Imo, I found this course a really good start for someone looking for a job in automotive, but is a bit too much for DIY purpose.
His knowledge and the way he transfers them into learning stuff is great with practical videos and theories thanks to CGI.
I started with no background in this industry at all and I believe this course help me a lot to become a mechanic apprentice. I did a pre-app course in Tafe as well but somehow I found this one impressed me more.

    • OP says it is still being filmed, how did you already complete it? Or were there other courses?

      • +1

Yes, he's still building up his course. But even back then, there was enough learning stuff for me to pass my interview and get a job which is all I need.

  • Is that car a rotary engine? If yes then it's surely not very useful…

    • No, an MX5/Miata has a standard 4 cyl engine, the RX series had rotary engines.

  • Thankyou OP. This is an interesting project that I feel would be of benefit to a lot of those truly interested in automobiles. I feel this sort of know how should be more common place on many subjects and would certainly would prefer to pay for a professional video series like this than wade through thousands of youtube videos, online forums or, heaven forbid, rely on commercial television to garner such an insight.

  • Rev up your engine!
