    • They feature an up to 3-year non-replaceable battery.
    • What's the iTag? Oh it's replaceable https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT211670

    • Crazy that they got rid of their models that had easily replaceable batteries. Wonder if it had anything to do with how Airtags were getting taken from shelves because of the "safety hazard" that is the batteries?

      • Its the law mate. The old tile devices just had a slide out tab to access the battery. It may not have been feasible to put in a screw or design the battery compartment to be made accessible by two simultaneous, independent actions

    • They're still doing that? I had one in 2016 and thought it was absurd you couldn't replace the battery.

I have these and they are useless because almost nobody uses them. Just go with Airtags or wait for the rumored Google equivalent.

      rumored Google equivalent.

      The Google G Spot? haha

Very handy for locating your wallet and keys around the house though as you can activate the ringer on them from your phone. I've had a Tile Slim in my wallet for years and it has come in handy a decent number of times.

  • Yeh I love the form factor but the tracker costs more than my wallet! Worth it if you're super forgetful but otherwise, learn to put your wallet back in the same spot ;)

the ""card" form factor is worthless, probably why they are giving it away, that and the non-removable batteries makes them a nogo for me.

    • The card form factor is great for going in your wallet, like it's made to do……

The Tile Mate and Slim came first and third in the Choice magazine bluetooth tracker review 11/2022, scoring 95% & 93% and 110 metres & 84 metres outdoor range test. Apple Airtag came 4th out of 12 tested but only had 32 metre outdoor range being the third lowest, also their decibel rating was the lowest alert sound of all trackers, where it shined of course was it's network connection, this bumped it up to 4th place for what is otherwise a poor quality tracker!!
But in saying that I would still buy an Airtag but I don't have an iPhone, Airtags don't work with Pixel or any non Apple phone.
So as @chewki states hopefully the Google bluetooth trackers are more than a rumour as I will be buying a bakers dozen of them if they come out!!

    • 110m over bluetooth is pretty impressive

  • Can you use the AirTag on a mac?

  • Wish I had got another one when the title with removable battery was $15 at jbhifi and they offered a $10 voucher. $5 was a bargain. I don't and would not pay subscription but great for finding my keys (or mobile)

  • Are the samsung smart tags no longer possible to get in Australia? I know they were never sold here but Amazon used to import them.

    • the price is way high right now, but I got these last year Dec for $65USD on the Amazon US store (about $125AUD inc tax/fees/exchange/ship for a 4pack - $30ea was a fair price for me) https://a.co/d/7fK4gKP

  • Seems to be sold out now

If you are going to go tile, better to get the pro if you can so u can get the changeable battery and longer distance…

Here is the 2022 Pro which has been hard to find in aus.. works out to ~$39 not the cheapest, but still pretty good.. and great range on this one..
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Tile-Powerful-Bluetooth-Water-Resi…
Ships from Amazon UK, I bought my during the blackfriday deal.

If you are not sure which one to get, here are my thoughts…
AirTag - Bigger network of people on their system, so if you lose your item, better chance it will be found. If you are an apple user its a no brainer..
Samsung - A step down from AirTag given smaller network, but Android friendly
Tile - A step down from samsung in terms of network, but they have more forms, been around longer. I find its good enough.. If I lose something you can usually tell the last location your phone connected to it.. it connects to my alexa.. the different forms allow me to put it on my remote, in my wallet, pretty much anywhere i want it.. The slim wallet one is credit card size… I am pretty happy with it.. THe only time it let me down is when I let the battery drain.
