Original Coupon Deal

Okay, this is not a great deal. It was a lot cheaper when it was discontinued and retailers were clearing stock. But it's discontinued and I wanted another for a stereo pair before all the AU stock disappears and I have to deal with the dregs of humanity on Gumtree or buy a grey import for $500 on Kogan or some shit. I also had a $25 voucher to use. And they're great speakers.

Same thing happened with Chromecast Audio, I bought 4 or 5 of them when they were $20-30. I had a spare, listed it on eBay and it went for over $150.

This is brand new AU stock from a reputable store, and they don't have many left. So yeah, very niche deal, but if you're like me and want one, here you go.

    Great speakers.

Have a pair from marketplace i bought for $100 each

    • Nice! I don't have any socials, besides this place which is kinda social. Gumtree is the worst

I have Facebook (in web browser not app) for the sole purpose of marketplace as it’s fantastic.

        • I think I'll use my old phone just for FB with a fake account. I don't want Meta shit on my PC or daily phone

  • Do these team up perfectly with the Google Nest system? Does it offer better sound (bass) than the Nest Max?

using from last 3 years, works great.

  • I have one from a clearance bargain a couple of years ago and man they sound great for the (clearance) price!

Bought one of these for $198 from Officeworks in mid 2020. Awesome speaker!

  • I've had 2 of these in stero mode for a long time. Excellent speakers for what they are. I run them in a speaker group with a set of Swan M50W's running off a tube preamp with a chromecast audio, sounds pretty good.

    • how much difference does the preamp make?

      • It does make a difference. The M50W's are awesome as they are, just makes it a little more smooth/warm. I've used it with this setup with it and without, definately prefer it with.

  • What? I chucked out (via the boxes at Officeworks for tech recycling) a chromecast audio a few years back as I never used it

    Feel bad now

    • Chromcast audio are worth gold
I sold mine for 150 about 2 years ago

      • Mine's in a drawer unused. Guess I should sell it or find a use for it

        • Find a use for it, because you won't be able to get another one

  • Can anyone who has a pair confirm whether the aux input works when they're in stereo mode?

Wish I'd bought another when I got the $198 harvey norman deal back in 2020 for stereo pair.

Just tested with my stereo pair and confirm this works.

Great speaker - for Sydney folk, it’s also available for $254.32 pickup from Mobileciti directly in Lidcombe using code PICKUP12.

  • How do these compare to the Sonos?

  • +2

Warning - When in stereo pair there is a large, about 2 second, delay. Okay for music. Not suitable for TV or syncing with video or other speakers. Google refuse to fix. Just try an online radio station and compare to same through single speaker.

    • Only planning to use these for music, but thanks for the heads up

    • I saw this before about delay so held off getting one. I don't have the product but I see they seem to have a solution now. https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/6318642?hl=en-A…

      • Different delay problem. The Group Delay fix just increases delay to sync speakers in a group, it cannot reduce the delay.

The excessively large Stereo Pair delay increase introduced with Google Max speaker pairing is unlikely to be fixed/reduced due to Google not wanting to infringe on or pay for the rights to use a Sonos patent. Stereo pairing definitely not suitable for TV viewing unless you can somehow delay the video image by 2 to 3 seconds.

I think you said it all when you said "I don't have the product".

        • That sucks. I kind of want them to work well. Thanks for sharing your experience with the product.
