Reviews on Amazon US indicate that there are plenty of issues with the Asus ITX board, including random crashes.

    • Really?
I was hoping to go with a Mini ITX build, specifically from ASUS or ASRock. They've had the best track record with AM4 when it comes to price, availability, and BIOS updates. MSi is pretty decent though.

      • Post from Amazon US

board sometimes posts, sometimes hangs with a blank screen. this happened on the original (nov '22) firmware, and it is still happening on latest firmware (non-beta channel as of mar '23, see other reviews, this is not an isolated issue)
        - since latest firmware upgrade, Win11 BSoDs when idling (see other reviews, this is not an isolated issue)
        - don't install armory crate if you can help it. it installs about half a dozen additional bloatware. the sound enhancement app, in particular, was crashing Win11 so frequently i ended up removing it (it kept a background process after uninstall, so there was some manual clean up involved)
        - others have mentioned the arrangement of the SATA ports (for which you need on the weird vertical motherboard adapter) makes it impossible to use with most standard SATA cables. the most common direction used for 90 degree angled SATA connectors won't work, so expect to track down a inverted angled connector on Amazon if you really need SATA
        - USB power cutouts (see other reviews)

        • That's interesting, but I think Bill Gates is the culprit here. Windows11 is a downgrade in my books, like how 8 was to 7. I would stick with 10-Pro for a few more years, and upgrade when Windows20 or Windows12 is out. Or at least until all these weird bugs are ironed out of Windows11.

With that said, it might actually be ASUS fault. But again they've had a great track record with AM4 and Windows 10.

    • Mines never crash. Strix X570-I

Its just matter of luck I think

      • You have a different board LOL

        • His claim is against all ASUS ITX MB if I read correctly.

While my Gigabyte B550I suffers from random failure. RMA and they said it is completely working fine. Hmm

  • The carbon board looks to be sold out as well when you try check out.

Excellent prices for both boards. The MSi Carbon WiFi is one of the 'least expensive' X670E motherboards that actually appears to allow full use of the I/O capabilities of the X670E platform (without stuff going half speed or some ports being disabled if you fill certain slots, according to the official manual). Expansion:

    3x PCI-E x16 slot
    Supports x16/x0/x4, x8/x8/x4
PCI_E1 Gen PCIe 5.0 supports up to x16 (From CPU)
PCI_E2 Gen PCIe 5.0 supports up to x8 (From CPU)
PCI_E3 Gen PCIe 4.0 supports up to x4 (From Chipset)

    STORAGE 4x M.2
M.2_1 Source (From CPU) supports up to PCIe 5.0 x4 , supports 2280/2260 devices
M.2_2 Source (From CPU) supports up to PCIe 5.0 x4 , supports 2280/2260 devices
M.2_3 Source (From Chipset) supports up to PCIe 4.0 x4 , supports 22110/2280/2260 devices
M.2_4 Source (From Chipset) supports up to PCIe 4.0 x4 , supports 2280/2260 devices
    6x SATA 6G

  • Ok, so if your buying a new AM5 platform is this a buy of the year?

    • +3

The Carbon WIFI is an insanely good price for what it is. It's a very good board. I'm doing a new build myself and was looking at other boards, saw this one and insta bought it.

      • OOS

      • Yeh i went 27 mins after posting and it was OOS!

  • nah skip these boards anyway, spending extra on a chipset the form factor cant utilise, only to have to deal with yet another tiny fan going at several hundred rpm

    • Three boards in this deal: mITX, mATX and ATX

      • sorry didnt realise, the x670e-i itx

  • Good lord I'm jealous - Sincerely, X670e-i owner.

    • There is no need to be jealous. I'm sure there are less than 5 people here gets the deal.

I came here seeing the 1st comment. Then I spent some time sharing with my friend and it sold out.

But it certainly set a line in my mind that I will need to wait for next 50% off. Damn it.

      • Good point! For anyone in the market they tend to hover around the $580 - $640 mark (one of the vendors on PCPP keeps dropping price and then increasing again)

        • That's gonna be an endless HODL maybe…

  • Thank you, got the b650m mag mortar wifi, $75 cheaper than my b550m mag mortar wifi….

  • Have they resolved the fan noise issue with the ROG x670? I bought one last year but returned it for a b650e-i for this reason.

  • This is back in stock at supplier 2-4 days but you cant purchase directly. I had to make another order but not pay, then call them and quote the order no. and they manually swap in this motherboard and then you pay. Edit: Just checked straight after my order and its gone again.

    • it's gone to full price now, rang them and guy said the website if not updated

      • That sucks, i must have lucked out with my timing.
