Great price. I've been waiting for a local store to drop HDD prices like this, or even from Amazon AU, as they're much easier to deal with for warranty.

But the deals are always from Amazon US or UK it seems.

    • Slowly but surely the local HDD prices are coming down… but at this pace, I have to wait at least a year to buy an 8 or 10 TB HDD

I've done returns on Amazon US hard drives after a year. Just open up a support chat.
But I understand the preference and would love to see these deals in the AU or local stores.

    • Same aye, been wanting to buy 4x10TB or even 4x8TB if prices are good enough.

    WD Elements FTW! Hellium matters.

Any Seagate drive of 12TB and above are helium filled.

      • Anyone know if these are CMR or SMR?

  • Weren't 8TB drives a better deal a few years ago? While SSD prices go down, the HDD prices are still quite high compared to where they have been.

  • What kind of stuff are you guys storing where you need multiple of these drives?

    • backups :-P

      • Fair! How long do you expect each drive to last?

Other than being $16.44 cheaper is there any significant difference between this and the Ironwolf Pro?

Seagate IronWolf Pro 12TB NAS Internal Hard Drive HDD $328.74 from Amazon (US via AU)

Is there a good reason to go with either specifically?

    • Warranty, number of use in NAS although it’s not hard limit. MTBF, yearly writes, if only slightly more expensive, GoPro is no brainer

  • Nothing good has followed the phrase “12tb of…”
