  • Bud 2 pro vs buds 2?
    Is there much difference

    • B2 has better battery life too apparently

    • +3

      I had both, results:

      Buds2 Pro: returned
      Buds2: my favourite buds

my issue with Buds2 Pro is it doesn't go as deep into the ear canal as Buds2. as a result I could never get a good fit/seal with Buds2 Pro, resulting in poor ANC and sound quality

while Buds2 are great in every way, with their good fit and seal I find their SQ and ANC amazing, especially for the price. I got them free with my S21 FE though lol

      • Buss2 doesn't fit well for me , it feels like it will fall down any moment

        • pros should be worse then? shorter earpieces

        • +1

Id be checking their ear attachment pieces - they should fit great due to their depth

          • @superroach: I have the original buds pro and the buds2

Buds 2 is much more comfortable but sound is better on the Buds pro

        • I found the same when I first used them changed to the small tips and never have an issue I use them all day at work and have fallen out maybe 2 times in 12 months .
Working a manual job welding so I’m moving around alot .

      • +1

YMMV - I initially also had a really bad seal/fit with my Buds 2 Pro, I experimented with tips from other earbuds I owned, settled on a pair that came with an old SoundPEATs model of mine and the fit/sound is 10x better than any of the stock ones.

        • +1

          10 times? Really?

          • +3

            @elektron: At least..

            Or even 10.33x better.

            But not 10.35 better thought.

          • @elektron: In terms of usability, yes. Was considering returning them at first because my left ear could never get a good seal with the stock tips. Transitioned to some cheap 3rd party tips and now the fit, sound and ANC is good.

    • +3

      I have both pairs.

The buds 2 pro has much better noise cancelling and has a slightly fuller and deeper sound. They are a little bigger and heavier so are slightly more prone to a poor fit. I generally use them at work or around the house.

The buds 2 have noise cancelling, but I find it isn't anywhere near as good as the pros. The sound generally feels a little tinnier on the buds 2, but if you weren't swithing between the 2 pairs of ear buds I'm not sure it would be noticble. The fit is perhapss a little better for my ears and the buds 2 are my first choice for any running or activities where I'll be moving me head a lot.

    • +1

I have both. Buds 2 pros have a much better noise cancelling and ambient mode. Also way better sound quality. Better water proofing according to the specs.

Buds 2 on the other hand is lighter and more comfortable.

Both better than galaxy buds pro for me.

  • Main difference will be ANC I think.

    • +2

      Buds 2 still as ANC

      • +1

Its pretty average the anc but yes it does.

Also it had a firmware update to support multipoint too

        • +1

Isn't it only for latest Samsung source devices, so not true multipoint?

      • Yes you are right, it does have ANC.

  • +3

Not sure there is anything better for this price! light, comfortable, decent ANC and good sound accuracy.

You think 99% of the population aren't at school/uni.

          You smart :)

        • +5

          4 000 000 enrolled in schools
          4 300 000 enrolled in VET/TAFE
          1 400 000 enrolled in University

9 700 000 enrolled to study, not counting staff (with some crossover for VETiS).

You think 1% of the population are enrolled in education? 260 000 people?

You would benefit from enrolling in further education.

          • @scphotos: Not to mention that university alumni get to keep their email address access for life

            • +1

@Jonzay: I don't know many universities that allow you to keep your edu.au address after completing your course.

              • @sena86: Huh, I thought it was standard. I have mine for life. Every time they overhaul the auth system and I get locked out, I call them up, mention my student number and alumni status and they fix up my access rights again.

          • @scphotos: They sure would benefit they’d get these buds at edu discount

        • -1

          you think this is Murica?

    • All you need is someone with an EDU email who can click a link once for you to enable EDU store access on your normal email linked Samsung account.

      • Good point, thank you

  • +6

Same price on Samsung EPP if you have access.

  • Kogan has been hovering around this price for a few months

    • Grey import?

  • Does it say how long the promotion lasts for? I won't be able to access the EPP store until Friday when I link my email

    • +2

This is what it says on the EPP I have access to

Save 50% off RRP for a limited time only. Hurry, offer ends 30.04.2023! T&Cs apply.

      • +1

        Many thanks :)

  • +5

Thanks OP. Got a pair. Had reward points from S22 Ultra phones purchases so had to pay only $1.10 cash. What a steal!!!

    • great idea, I just bought one and pay $1.10 also haha.

    • -2

That does sound like a steal for the pair (or should i say, a steel pair)

    • How many points do you have to use?

      • +2

        10,840

        • +1

Jeez did you buy a $10,000 TV to get that or something?

          • +1

@Charlieeee: I bought me and the missus new S22 Ultras last year. Had 14000 points in the account which in Samsung terms meant $140. Happy days!

  • +1

I have the galaxy buds + i wonder how these compare to them. Has aonyone jumped from the + to the B2?

    • +1

      In my experience:
The Buds+ have better battery life. They have wings that help them stay in your ears better. The Buds2 come loose after a few minutes and they are difficult to handle owing to their smooth shape. The Buds2 have ANC and 360° audio (if that matters to you).

      • +1

Thanks for the insight. The buds plus still work fine, they have their moments. Had the issue with one of the buds not charging but worked out how to get it to charge again.

Was looking at future proofing. I mean the added features would be nice to have not a necessity.

I was interested in the bowers and wilkins pi 5 s2. I know they are in a different league, i guess i am lookong for an exuse for the pluses to die.

    • Yes I did
At first I wasn’t a fan of them because I was using the wrong sized tips and they kept coming out seems I need small tips on the buds 2 and used medium on the plus .
The anc is good but battery life seems worse on the 2 .
If I was to buy another pair it would be the 2 for sure .

  • Have been using these for about 18 months. Love them.

  • +1

how do these rate compared to buds plus? I have buds plus and the fit and user experience is great, simple but connects automatically to my Samsung phone every time, good haptics. just waiting for the day mine die and need to replace with something (since you cant get buds plus anymore)

    • See my comment above.

    • +2

Same, bud plus has to be one of the best purchase i ever made. The thing cant die no matter how much i abuse and drop it. Battery lasts forever and stay on strong on your ears, bought only $90.

  • +3

Westpac customers can avail the same EPP offer through
    Rewards and offers tab

    • Can we redeem the westpac points to buy this?

  • -1

I usually hate Samsung as most things they produce is cheap garbage that they dont support well in comparison to what else is on the market. However their mobile division is actually a standout. My OG galaxy buds has been going strong since 2019. I don't even know when they will break and force me to buy a new pair.

BTW. Does anyone know if the case here is matt or gloss? I didn't like the Buds+ mainly cause it had a case made from scratchy plastic.

    • Gloss. You might find a cover for the case on Facebook Marketplace which was part of the pre-order bonuses last year.

  • -2

    This or Beats studio buds?

  • -1

I got a pair free with my phone last year. Unopened. Not sure if I should sell or keep it. I have a pair of Taotronics ones… not the best, and no ANC. But they work, so I feel like I should just sell the Buds2.

But on the other hand… I know they're good… and I already have them so…

    • I had the taotronics and then bought the Galaxy buds… I gave away my Taotronics so fast. 4 years later and they are still going strong, battery life still superb and I use them 8+ hours a day. My only issue with it is that it picks up a lot of background noise when in a call, so considering upgrading.

      • Ah! This is exactly what I needed to know. I have a pair of bluetooth gaming headphones that really block background noise out. I can be walking around in the city and people wouldn't know. I need a pair of earbuds that will have the same level of background noise reduction or removal.

Maybe I will sell the Buds2 after all.

        • Just to clarify, mine are buds 1. I'm trying to work out if buds 2 pick up less background noise. IF you do decide to sell and are based in Melbourne…raises hand =D

          • +1

@ShinK0: Will do. I'm tempted to try them out now just to see what they're like.

But if I sell them, I'm going to sell them unopened. I'll send you a PM if I decide to.

        • I can be walking around in the city and people wouldn't know.

Are they wearing gaming headphones? And blind too?

  • +1

How is the mic on these? I've got the Galaxy Buds and they are horrendous. They pick up every little detail of background noise more than my own voice which makes for a very unenjoyable conversation for those calling me when I'm out.

  • Just bought a pair of Tozo T10, tempting to cancel and get these instead

  • So tempting, but it seems that by all accounts the sound quality is better on the Buds2 Pro? Sounds like I'm better off waiting for them to come down in price? (and they're matt, unlike the Buds2 which all look pretty shiny?) I have small ears though, so that's a plus for these ones, being a little smaller.

does any promo code works /tried ?
feel free to DM if you got any spare,Thanks

    • +1

why Neg, I saw promo code at checkout that's why m asking.

  • Compare to Bose Quite Comfort OR Sony WF-1000 OR Jabra Elite 5, would you recommend this? (For Samsung User)

PS: Most of the were 50% on JB HI-FI before. So only consider they are half priced.

    • +2

At this price, the Buds2 are a clear winner. If money is no object, I'd go with any of the other three.

The feature set on these is great for the money. You may or may not like the fit as they are smooth and slippery to handle, but they don't stick out like some other buds.

Being a Samsung product, they work great with Samsung phones.

  • -1

My Galaxy Buds 2 are a much better fit than my Pixel Buds Pro and they sound pretty close

  • +2

Want these buds and other education store deals but aren't a student? I've got the ultimate ozbargain thing to do for you! If you live in NSW, they are offering free TAFE courses. Just sign up, get your student email address and you are set!

    • No workie. Signed up last night for a cert in digital media and you only get a login to the learning portal.

      • Really? I got a email login for a diploma!

        • Need to wait a couple of days or something? I was going to do the course anyway but cheap buds would be a bonus.

  • +3

Found this deal that has purple and green at $102.99.
    Free shipping in AU/NZ, too.

    https://www.jackdeal.com.au/samsung-galaxy-buds-2-r177-true-…

    • Is that place legitimate?

      • 4. In the negative review of Jack Deal, we reserve the right to prosecute false allegations on the Internet.

        Wow, can they do that?

        • If they can prove your claimed experience was false (see some examples below) and that it caused their business "serious harm", it can count as defamation. It's pretty hard to prove, pretty expensive to do so, and unlikely to be pursued. People have sued for it before, with varying degrees of success.

          Examples for defamatory reviews:
          - Making fake accounts to submit multiple reviews, which appears as multiple customers
          - You never actually dealt with the company
          - You claimed something that was clearly false (for example, that your ps4 broke when actually the delivery was late)

          TLDR: Yes

      • +1

I wouldn't trust it. The store is banned on Ozbargain for having an expired ABN.

  • +1

So reading through this, they both suck, have shit noise cancelling, and both are awesome with top shelf noise cancelling..

    Thanks for clearing that up.

    • +1

It's the nature of buds. Certain models will fit some people's ears perfectly, but not at all in others.

How good something sounds is excitement subjective.

      • +1

        *extremely

  • Never used earbuds but temped to get a pair for zoom meeting at work.

Any advice whether I should get this or soundspeat? Cheers

    • +2

I use these for zoom regularly and they're fine

      • Found bluetooth connection to any Windows machine to be shockingly bad.

        • I've had zero issues with it

  • What are they like compared to the Sony Linkbuds S. These are the 2 I'm considering upgrading to from my original galaxy buds

  • +1

Does anyone get weird itchy ears after using any of the recent Buds?

I have the original Buds Pro, Buds2, and Buds2 Pros and all give me crusty ear canals.

However other earbuds like the OG Buds, Jabra 75t, and Sony WF-1000XM4 don't.

It might be something to do with the plastic or metal Samsung uses in the new buds.

    • +1

Yeah, some people have been experiencing this for the Buds 2 and Buds 2 Pro but not for the Buds and Buds Pro. They changed the materials for 2nd gen, and there is a department handling this issue, so you aren't the only one.

      • They changed the materials for 2nd gen

Is that actually the case? Came across a lot of comments from people on google who already had nickel contact dermatitis allergic reactions with the first gen when Samsung were already using nickel in the terminal contacts. But also seems to be a lot of conflicting accounts of people who didn't have bad reactions and now do with gen2 and vice versa.
