And here I am using the woolworths home brand ones like a hobo. Time to upgrade!

    • Don't bother, I sent mine back, came with flat batteries and I couldn't find the battery compartment anywhere.

  • pity it's not the chocolate finish, chocolate finish doesn't chip on the finish if dropped ….

  • feeling of french luxury

  • Are these worth jumping on at this price?

    • +1

      No. Check out amazon.

      • +3

Are you sure you can find them cheaper on Amazon?

        • +1

amazon has them cheap often from UK …… check on camel if the ones you want are a bar again or not.
the u select ones usually cost a bit more than the std mechanism ……

    • Depends on your budget for salt and pepper grinders

Nice I have actually been looking for new smaller mills for the dining table.

We have 40cm mills that are used in the kitchen.

    • If only we could get really small ones that take up less space in the kitchen.

      • Wife is a chef so we got the big ones nearly 15 years ago, more suitable in the kitchen when cooking a lot,

        • Ah yes, I remember when waiters with giant pepper mills were a fad in restaurants :-)

          • @bargaino: Actually still a thing

          • @bargaino: Yep , but the big ones are actually useful in the kitchen with the chefs as you can grind alot quickly / easily.

Mine are 30+ years old. One (salt) was replaced for free about 20 years ago. Good quality and no issues with the warranty claim.

These are well made, and designed. Definitely worth the prices asked and importantly are not likely to be made redundant through designed obsolescence, i.e. Not likely to become added to landfill during my lifetime, unlike the cheaper alternate products named here.

Put a 3xCamel search on the model you want. Amazon has these reduced from time to time.

These https://www.amazon.com.au/Kyocera-Salt-Pepper-Spice-White/dp… are excellent small mills, and yes it's the same Kyocera that make printers. Turns out they have a thriving ceramics department 🤷🏼‍♂️

problem with small ones is they run out of pepper quick ….. shape is important if you have space issues ….the peugeot paris are fat in the middle …… look for another shape as the foot print is small with pepper mills but the rest of the shape can be an issue is little space …

Some of the Peugeot on the roads could be cheaper than these haha .

I have a set for over 4 years now..l.. I am no specialist but bought these over electric grinders at the same price because they are billed as "pro" grade.. the only issue I have is that they seem to keep becoming lose .. the top nut that is .. but they work brilliantly from day one to now 4 years later.. I have no idea whether they are good value but seem to be built to last and work well..except for the top nut making the assembly loose .. just my 2 cents if anyone else is in the same boat..though I did buy them pre Covid and it was on OZB for way cheaper than the currently advertised price

    • Yep same..I still love using them though the pepper one works far better than the salt.

      • Yes thats true

    • +1

Bought these about 4 years ago after reading all the hype. Pepper mill was ok but as you said, the top nut constantly comes loose. Salt mill was rubbish from day one, twisting forever to get a tiny bit of salt. Maybe I got a dodgy one but not really what you expect from a “premium” product.
Just replaced them recently with oxo good grips, far more functional if not as fancy looking

      • Same here… The pepper mill seems to tighten all by itself and the paint on the top screws - the only thing differentiating salt from pepper by sight alone - has worn off.

        They work well though.

      • In the same boat. Bought this exact set two years ago. Just don’t seem to justify the price. Doesn’t seem to provide any extra performance to the cheap ones you get from Coles when you buy their ‘fancy’ pepper and salt.

This is an insane price for salt and pepper grinders lol. The mark up on these must be very nice for the producer.

The price of this is a joke, 129 + 9.99 delivery for salt & pepper grinders? brahh…

I'm a bit unhappy with my Peugeot pepper grinder, the peppercorns keep getting jammed so nothing comes out unless you change the grind setting or turn it upside down and shake it. Bit disappointing given how hyped these grinders are. And like @shaidas, the top nut keeps getting loose too. When it works, it's pretty good, but overall it's much more of a faff than it should be, would try a different one next time

    • Same with mine! It'll often stop grinding completely and requires shaking, banging and frigging to get it going again. Very disappointed considering the cost.

    $129 grinders!
Perfect Ozbargain deal seeing as a vast majority of people here are on $200k+ annual salary with a variety of investment properties/vehicles

    • +2

$129 for a solid product that should last a decade or two.

Yet no one complains about $1500 gpu’s or $600 CPU’s that are only cutting Edge for a couple years.

      • Mine are 12-15yrs old and still as good as new.

      • +2

I bought my salt and pepper grinders from Kmart or Target about 10 years ago. I can't imagine I spent more than $20 for them.

Guess what, they still work because they're just salt and pepper grinders. The cost has little to do with the quality.

        • Not to mention all the comments complaining about issues above lol.

Nice. Now I know where to keep my 1$ salt

I can sense this offer will never be oos

have marlux pepper mill also french, that is now 53 years old and still working ….got a peugeot pepper mill as i also wanted a mill with green pepper corns, only down side is the u select mechanism has some plastic parts which the std mechanism doesn’t , but should last ……

haven’t bothered with wooden salt grinders anymore ……the iodised table salt from coles works fine and you need ceramic or stainless steel mechanisms for salt due to rust ….. the salt grinders i had, the wood absorbed salt on humid days and on dry days the salt crystalised and finish started to peel from the wood at the base …..

  • I can buy lifetime supply of salt and pepper for $129

    • really just need the pepper grinder , fresh ground pepper is great as it’s more aromatic has the pile haven’t drained out unlike pre ground ……salt doesn’t change flavour over time ….doesn’t matter how old it is ……

just buy the pepper grinder for $60 …….

  • These are not great honestly. Unicorn magnum pepper mill is 10x better, and for salt a grinder is kinda pointless. A Box of kosher salt is $10 and a small container maybe another 10, done.

    • Agreed re: salt. I bought the Olsson’s sea salt flakes that comes in a fancy container and just refill it. I can’t think of any reason I’d ever need a salt grinder.

  • I’ve heard the classic grinders are better quality than the u’select ones, can anyone confirm?

  • +1

Almost cost as much as a CPU's
