    • Keep total under 250k and be ready to jump.
But 50 bucks is 50 Bucks!

  • Does it require a credit check

  • Tempting but im over 25 and have too many accounts that need 2000$ deposit per month

    • +2

Most of them you can just bounce the $2k in and out every month - this one you can

    • +3

That’s only for the benefits, should still be fee free, so claim $50 and dip.

  • +5

Don't forget to use the referral system 👍

  • If I had an account and closed it with them last year would I be eligible?

    • Has it been over 12 months? I think that's the standard with banks to qualify as a 'new' customer.

    • +1

I doubt it but please try and report back.

      Or just ask live chat.

    • From the terms "A new customer is any person who does not currently or has not previously held a Virgin Money Go Account or Virgin Money Grow Saver".

How much does 10000 points worth?

    • +2

It's literally in the title, it's worth a $50 giftcard.

      • +1

        Thanks, didn't see it:-)

  • No issues getting this the last time they ran it.

  • +1

    Free money

  • would this offer combine with referral also or maybe exclude?

    • It doesn't stack. Better to just go though referral to give someone $25.

  • +1

Do they send you out a card?

I mean it's pretty easy to make 10 $2 transaction in a day, and then close it.

    • +1

      Yes. Also supports Google Wallet.

      • I am trying to think what I can buy in 1 day, so I get it over & done with!

Anyone know how long for points to come through because you can cancel?

        • +3

          Maybe 10 * $2 Amazon gift card.

        • +6

A few ideas I've used before
10 x $2 Amazon gift cards direct from Amazon
          10 x $5 eBay/Super Swap gift cards from Shopback
          10 x $2 deposits to theLott.com

obligatory split pay in Colesworth comment

        • Also points come through almost instantly once all 10 transactions are confirmed (typically a few bus days)

        • what's preventing me from paying each item above $2 at woolies/coles seperately in single go?

          • @WhatsTheBigDeal: The hassles involved.

It was a better offer for 20k pts last year this time, requiring spend $100+ for one purchase only. I bought a $100 Coles Gift MasterCard for 2k bonus flybuys pts and completed the required spend as well.

          • +1

@WhatsTheBigDeal: You don't have to split items, you can just split your total final amount into separate payments ($2 splits)

        • For most banks, sending money via Beem It counts as a transaction, since that's how it's processed under the hood (charge the card as a transaction, then "refund" the money to the other person)

          • @webkit: This card does not support EFTPOS so that you cannot use Beem It.

you could transfer points to another VM account as well and bank points in your partner's account for a better return. A small breakdown of what the points are worth.

    500 - $2.25 cash
    17775 - $100 Ikea gc
    17865 - $100 kmart gc
    17995 - $100 coles gc
    35230 - $200 myer gc
    35410 - $200 his/her/home gc
    35775 - $200 amzon gc
    35775 - $200 jb gc

    • what's the difference between virgin money points and velocity points? i couldn't get a clear answer from google

      • +1

        Two separate points systems.

      • +1

Virgin Money Points are NOT Velocity Points.

    • This is very helpful, thanks!

So the earn rate is ~0.56% if going with 17995 points for Coles GC. So the 2% cashback per tap from HSBC global everyday is still superior, unless if you use the Virgin Money card after you've maxed out the $50 per month of the hsbc.

  • +2

I applied this one last year and did not receive the points.

Their online support is a joke

  • +2

This deal actually indicates that frequent purchases/BPay under $2 to earn pts may be flagged. Refer to this topic.

  • I thought it was 10k Velocity points 😭

So we just convert this to a GC?

  • I’m out. “A new customer is any person who does not currently or has not previously held a Virgin Money Go Account or Virgin Money Grow Saver.”

  • Signed up, they automatically give you a "Boost Saver" savings account also?

  • Can anyone confirm $5 ShopBack GCs via Apple Pay or if >= $3 Amazon GC's count as eligible transactions?

    • I bought some $5 GCs straight up and through GPay, both counted.

      • how do you buy in shopback via Gpay?

        • You can't, I bought it from Card.Gift.

  • The Amazon gift card they sent me when I redeemed my points didn’t work 🤦‍♂️

Edit: turns out you need to remove the dashes. Never noticed or had this issue on dozens of cards before. Anyway, it worked.
