Have you guys ever thought of a sample pack of most beans? I don't mind Sumatra, but would love to try the others without having to buy a 500g bag of each.

    • +1

Hey xyzed - thanks for asking.
We don't have sample packs as such but we are always happy to help you choose a blend.
Also, if you end up with something you don't like we have return options for you.

If you like the Sumatra, I would recommend the Twilight or Pegasus as alternatives.
If you then find you like one of those more I can guide you to others.

      I hope that helps.

      Cheers
      Dan

Misleading price displays as per ACCC:

Promoting a price as being a sale or special price, when it is actually the normal price.

Where an item is offered at a sale or special price for an extended period of time, it may be misleading to call it a sale or special price, as the price has effectively become the new selling price.

      kthxbye.

Difference being, these are a coupon code, and also the code is advertised to a limited audience (assuming ozbargain isn't 100% of their customers).

ACCC normally looks down on retailers who advertise a marked down sale for all customers.

        • I wonder how House stores get away with it, I believe they've had kitchenware and knives etc. constantly 'on sale' for years, at huge markdowns such as 75% off.

          • @TekniqAU: They probably have a few of their $1000 RRP knives sitting in a warehouse somewhere while they list it on their website at full price for a few months, just in case someone was dumb enough to buy one.

After a while, they can legitimately claim they've reduced the price by 75%.

Rinse and repeat by changing the pattern a little and tacking on a different Japanese sounding name on the box.

  • Hi OP, can you help me?
My coffee seems to go stale very quicky. Within days even the finest grind setting on my sette 270wi is not fine enough.
I store 250g in Fellow Atmos and use daily, and freeze 250g lots in vacuum sealed bags.
When I get to the vacuum sealed bags they are often stale and I cannot grind fine enough by the time I get to them.
This has been happening for 1-2 years and has stopped me buying beans for a couple of months due to the waste, dialing in, and hassle.

This has happened with AirJoe, Lime Blue etc. but doesn't happen with my local roaster.

    Thank you.

    • Hey there teacherer and thanks for your question.
Hopefully some of your fellow OzBargainers can also jump in here on there thoughts and experience with storing beans.

There are varying opinions on freezing beans so you may find that is just not working for you in general.
I can't comment on beans from other suppliers but I would recommend buying smaller amounts and keeping them in the resealable bag they are sold in.
If you keep the bag cool and dry it should be equally as good as any other container or method.

I hope that helps and I hope others can also chip in.

      Cheers
      Dan

I've been buying from AIRJO the last 2-3 years and am in Vic. I often buy at 1kg which will last me 4 weeks. I store enough beans (250g) in an Airscape coffee container for the week and leave the remaining beans in the original packaging and either Vacc the bag and store in a small esky I have in my cupboard, or on the shelf, which is typically a cool and dry place. So far the bean freshness has been acceptable. I usually buy Sumatra or Colombian blends.

I was actually thinking there was less degradation in Airjo blends than some of my other regular blends.
      For the record:
+1 for Airscape. I have two airscapes: a 1Kg & 500g. I only open the 1Kg once a week or less to top up the 500g airspace that gets opened more frequently.
I find freezing beans reduces my grind consistency. (beans that have been frozen vary so much in consistency that they require a separate dial in process over fresh or airscape stored beans). I don't freeze beans any longer.

    • Thanks - Definitely a better deal - I get to try 3 x 250g (750g) of their blends for $25.50 delivered.

  • I decided to try the Soprano coffee options as I didn't want to buy any over priced chocolate to get a discount from Airjo and I am so impressed with the Soprano beans.

Most probably won't be coming back to you Airjo, sorry.

Hey there viksa - fully understand your feelings on that one and we apologise.
Our genuine intentions were to share with you guys a new product range we were all excited about.

My execution of that however was not well thought out and we annoyed a few of our loyal customers.
      For that I apologise.

We have learned from that one and are moving onwards and upwards.

      Sincerely
      Dan
